A list of puns related to "Skokie Lagoons"
This warm weather has me excitedly planning for the summer! If itβs allowed, where would I launch from?
Anyone ever heard of bobcat sightings in the Skokie lagoons and or on Forestway drive?
I am looking for cats and potentially bass fishing from the Dam. Should I be on the south side of the dam (next to Willow) or the other side that is actually Lagoon number 1?
I am new to the area and was told that there is great channel cat fishing at the willow road dam at the skokie lagoon. It looks like its 50 feet deep on the southside of the dam. Can anyone confirm that this is a good spot? I was going to use live minnows and drop it to the bottom with weights
Anyone going or fished recently?
Edit: 3:30pm 5/2/20. I am here and bunch of people fishing. A lot of people kayaking and biking as well. Caught a few small mouth. Starting to sprinkle so People are leaving.
Does anyone know if the Skokie lagoon is open for kayaking right now? I couldnβt find anything online.
I've been skunked at the Skokie Lagoons both times i've went now.
I used a high low rig with hot dogs and cut shad aiming for catfish while flipping for bass with carolina rig, bobber and worm, and soft plastics on lagoons 3,4, and 5.
Iβll be checking out the Skokie Lagoons for the first time on Saturday. Can anyone recommend the best spots for bank fishing bass? The lagoons are huge and I donβt want to waste my time. Thanks!
I've tried following these directions but to no avail:
βHeading north on the paved North Branch Trail, there is a decrepit gravel trail that cuts northwest from it and crosses a very small crumbling dam which crosses over to the big island. Follow a zigzag of dirt paths past an abandoned well and an oddly-placed fire hydrant that looks like it has not been used since the 40s. After that you are on your own.β
I thought the dam was the one by Dundee but that's not it. Any help?
Been catching a lot of bluegill here and even a couple sizable bass. Just wondering if anyone is doing more than just throwing these guys back?
I've been fishing at those lagoons since I was a wee lad with my grandfather. We went up there today (last time we were there was around October) and a large amount of the trees that were there are gone. This really sucks because they provided awesome shade on sunny days, but I'm sure there was a reason.
I might get a few comments saying "you aren't looking hard enough," but as someone in the suburbs I can say there are genuinely NO good natural lakes, and the few that exist are mostly bordering other counties and have poor fisheries + poor environments/conditions for fish. The best bass I've caught is a 5 pounder on a golf course pond but that can't really be counted as true fishing, and other than that most bodies of water are plain crap for big fish. Example: skokie lagoons. The rivers are weak, low, and sparse. All of this especially holds true for pike. Anyone have thoughts on this?
My 4yo is getting into fishing with me and really wants to catch a bass. Can anyone recommend somewhere in the city or north suburbs thats easy to get to and kid friendly? The bass don't have to be big. Thanks
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
