I am trying to write a one shot that follows the story of the Battle of Castle Itter. Source. But instead of being about Nazis vs. Americans, it will just be a conflict between two opposing forces. The story involves a castle that is being used as a prison in the middle of a war-zone where Americans, with the help of turncoat Nazi soldiers, successfully defend a Nazi siege. I would like to end the one shot with a Battle of the Pelennor Fields style siege that culminates with a roof top battle against a dragon. The basic plot of the one shot is as follows,

1. Party learns of incoming army
2. Party prepares the prisoners and the castle for battle
3. Battle ensues
4. When it seems like the battle is won, a dragon swoops down and fights the party on the roof of one of the towers.
   My issue is how to set up this epic ending. How should I start the adventure, and how should the characters learn about the incoming invasion?
   In short, I am asking for your ideas for imminent battle plot hooks.

My party is currently trying to defend a castle during a siege and I'm running into a bit of dm writer's block in terms of activities/encounters for the party to take part in during the siege.

I have some fun details already set up. The enemy general has made a deal with a powerful fire elemental and has the ability to melt large (100 foot) swaths of wall into molten lava twice a day. Also, he sent a body double to their only meeting with him, so they have no idea that the general and the Molten Man are the same person.

I'm just having a hard time tying everything together into a cohesive, playable session. You guys are super creative so if anyone has a novel idea (or just an inspiration) that might help me tie this stuff together, let me know.

So I’m up north visiting my fiancé’s family for the holidays, and to my surprise my future step-brother in law who has only ever played Fortnite and COD comes up to me and asks if I’ve ever heard of this game called Rainbow Six Siege. My fiancé and I play all the time and I was super excited to get him on board to enjoy the game. I got him the game on sale for Christmas and I’ve already pointed him to a couple of content creators that I think he’ll enjoy.

My question for you all is this: what pro league match should I show him to get him excited about the possibilities this game has, while also being somewhat friendly for new viewers in explaining some of the basic concepts? There’s no wrong answers, I’m just wondering what’s your favorite match to show people when they want to see some really good R6 play.

I've traded sleep for 13 hours of progress in Dynasty Warriors 9. I'm playing Sun Ce's story and just cut down Liu Biao at the Battle of Xiangyang.

However, I noticed that for this battle and the Luoyang Battle in Chapter 2 the target officers hung out between closed, barred doors the entire time. In Xiangyang I wanted to siege Liu Biao properly and force my way through to him without the grappling hook. However, even after it seemed like I wiped out every speck of red on the map save for two bases on the walls that didn't seem to have spawned enemy officers, he still hung out in his little courtyard with the doors closed shut. I waited for allied officers to siege the doors, I attacked them myself in the hopes they would break down, but I eventually had to leap over the wall in what I think was a glitch to beat him.

So, a question for the good people of this subreddit: has anybody successfully smashed through the gates guarding target officers in the main missions, whether personally or with siege weapons? Or have you gotten them to unbar the doors and come out on their own? If you have, what objectives do you have to accomplish to get the game to move forward like that? Or has it been necessary to constantly use the grappling hook to advance the story at all? I would much rather follow the natural flow of a battle than break into the main camp with the grappling hook or a possibly glitchy jump all the time.

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm talking about the doors INSIDE the city, which the target officers are behind, not the doors on the city walls. I'm sorry if there was any confusion reading this post, I thought this edit might make it clearer for anyone who happens upon it.

Since siege creeps now have 80% resistance to magic they can no be affected by skill-shots and the like.

From a subjective standpoint I'm not a fan of this as I feel like it lessens the amount of depth some heroes have.

You can get the hook at level 5 with the thief which has about 900 range and pulls people towards you. Off the wall and likely into death if anyone is paying attention. Any other interesting 'features' out there? I'm going to test the thief's ability to teleport to an enemy by shadow walking to see if you can get across gaps and onto walls.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Battlefield 2042 truly has so much potential; more so than possibly any Battlefield to date. Those "Battlefield Moments" really do happen more so than in another of Battlefield I've played. When it works, it works phenomenally. The disappointing part is that it could be so so much more.

All-Out-Warfare (conquest and such) has been Battlefield's staple game type as a franchise. This is what most people should be playing for the core experience. Hazard Zone is meant to be a special mode that changes the formula up a bit. While Portal is meant to be a custom games type of mode for Battlefield (which is actually amazing and hope it grows massively in time).

This post will focus mainly on All-Out-Warfare, and a very little bit on Hazard Zone in relation to the changes I suggest in All-Out-Warfare. Hazard Zone and Portal are already pretty well off. Although they could use more content but that will come later down the line.

The post will focus on converting the Specialist System of all out Warfare to the Class System of older games, while still maintaining its uniqueness specialists brought and differences in Hazard Zone. It will offer 3 suggestions on the system which will differ slightly in their own

Classes and Specialists

Classes have been a staple in the Battlefield series since the start. The class system essentially divided the weapons, gadgets and gear (amongst other things) into 4-7 roles depending on the game. This allowed for many things. For one, it helped balance the game. Making sure that certain weapon types couldn’t be used with certain gadgets helped ensure a balanced experience. You wouldn’t want a sniper with an ammo crate because they’d never relocate to get ammo.

In BF2042, we have a new system utilizing Specialists. Many already know what the Specialists are but they are essentially Hero type classes, each with their own unique ability and special gadget. Sundance has a wingsuit and a special grenade while Dozer has a shield and takes less blast damage. This system does allow for overall more freedom to the game, but that comes with its own cost and cons that frankly, I believe are worse for the Battlefield formula as a whole.

After 25 years of hobby and thinking space marines were lame, I’ve finally started the Horus Heresy series and after the first two, I am utterly hooked.

I understand the third is the end of that trilogy, but seeing the new books are all Siege of Terra.. when does that siege and Horus killing Sanguinius or the Emperor actually happen? Do I need to get through 60 books?

I’ve got a list of books to check out for specific chapters, but are there any suggestions for what to read after #3 if I want to continue the natural timeline?

Amilita led me from the bathrooms, back outside to where the catering was, and true to our prediction, the cameras followed closely, bobbing along as we walked down the front stairs together.

“So what now?”

She said a word I didn’t recognize, not even looking down at me, instead forward as we strode past where the cameras were waiting, and back out into the sun.

“Sorry, what was that word?” I asked politely.

“I’m told it’s like your version of ‘Smile and wave’,” Amilita supplied, stopping at last once we were on the steps, looking out over the enormous grass lawn and the afternoon’s proceedings. I made a quick note that the table of books had been completely picked through. “I think Natalie just ate too much and got nervous. She doesn’t have the…” The Officer searched for words before settling on: “...the toughest constitution. I’m sure she will be fine.”

I forced myself to calm down, and gazed down at my new omni-pad. I wanted nothing more than to run back to the bathroom, to hell with everything else, but… it was kind of true. I wanted to point out how she’d trucked Jordan way back at the track party, but it was true that she was absolutely dwarfed by almost every other Shil’ in attendance. Was she naturally given to panic? How much did I really know about her?

I felt a little warmth in my chest, remembering how she’d held me at the covered bridge.

I spoke the words ‘translate Smile and Wave’ in English into my omni-pad, holding down a button to activate the microphone. I watched it automatically pull up its ‘translation’ feature, and the device pulse in its bright, rainbow colors from the center. The information came up much faster than on the one I’d been given by Talay, and even more impressive, the translation was fully nuanced, rather than a direct series of translations of ‘smile’ ‘and’ ‘wave.’ The middle framed a phonetic sounding for me, with all the little nitty-gritty details of the word’s etymology underneath. This was all way, way more information than I’d had access to before.

I've been looking forward to this game for what feels like years, but it's so fundamentally broken, and so utterly tone-deaf, that I can no longer accept that Dice cares at all about BF fans, and is now chasing the casual gaming crowd at the expense of long time players.

I know the 'lists of issues' are getting old, but I wanted to take the time not just to talk about what's broken, but how it's DELIBERATE, and represents modern toxic 'we know better than our fans' game development that aims for the lowest common denominator.

1. Lack of scoreboardThis is the big elephant in the room, but we've seen comments from the developers that they are proud of the new system. Why? Because it achieves exactly what they wanted; It reduces the perceived skill gap, by preventing new players from feeling like they are 'losing' to more experienced players. This helps 'player retention', which is the be-all end-all goal of modern toxic game development. They don't want a thriving fanbase that grows over time, they want to bring in a bunch of new players based on a large marketing campaign, and give them the most unchallenging experience possible so they will stick around long enough to spend money
2. weapon bloomA lot of us probably remember the TTK saga with BFV. New players felt they 'died too quickly' and player retention suffered, so they made all the weapons weaker than they already were. Players kicked off, and it was eventually reverted, but Dice kept trying to increase TTK. Well, weapon bloom is just a more indirect way of artificially inflating TTK to reduce the skill gap, punishing skilled players. Once again, the point here is rather than engaging your core players and attracing new players by word of mouth (think R6 siege), instead they can spend a million dollars on a marketing campaign, attract a bunch of casuals, and make them feel like they don't need to compete, sticking around long enough to spend some money
3. operators over classesIf it's not obvious by now, Dice is trying to hook casuals by hampering skilled players so they will stick around and spend money, but how to make them spend money? Operators. As other games have shown, people will spend more money on skins than they will on general cosmetics, and they will buy skins for multiple operators they like to play versus a few cosmetics that are shared. **Operators are not in the game for gameplay reasons, they are here to give more avenues for monetizatio

hey yall! i'm sem and i'm super excited to see everyone! i've been part of these challenges for almost 2 years (wow time flies) and this is my third time being captain. i actually made my account for these challenges, hence the username including my original goal weight, which i have passed.

a little about me is that i'm a full time university student right now, i go to UT (hook em horns!) for accounting and i'll graduate with my masters. i've lost 75 pounds and i'm heading towards maintenance and recomping! i started these challenges super sedentary and built myself up to 10k steps (which i need to get back to getting). i'm trying to go to the gym more so i can get strong! i've also started ice skating and i love it! yall will be seeing a lot of me so get used to it haha
