One of my favorite live music venues famous for having amazing blues, soul and funk bands on stage everyday (yes, every day), Blues Kitchen Shoreditch is having another Aretha Franklin night!
- I, as a local, will be there after work from 6.30 p.m. onwards but please read below for details
- DJ music (funk, soul) starts around 9 p.m., live music starts between 10:00 - 10:30 p.m.

Hi all, I've been away from London for about 6 years working abroad and am back for a couple of weeks to see family but will be working from our London office in the meantime. There seem to be some great changes to TfL (like the hopper fare) and caps, but also worse ones like the increase in fees.
My journey to work is not going to be easy but I'm trying to work out if I'm missing anything in terms of costs. Looking at the new fare list it seems that peak and off-peak prices are the same for all caps, which is hard to believe but I'll take it. I have a couple of questions so I can work out my cheapest price. I'll be travelling three days this week, and 4 days next week.
My route is essentially:
..... Bus to Surbiton station -> Overground to -> Waterloo -> Bus to shoreditch high street
Most of my journey will be in peak times, but some overlap/start in peak. My questions are:
- Will the mix of peak and off-peak charges change how my daily cap works? I.e. if I reach the peak cap and then make an off-peak journey, will it be free or 'start a meter' for the off-peak cap?
- If I can board the second bus within an hour of boarding that first one, will it be free (hopper fare) or does the sandwiched train prevent this?
- I've seen rumours that the hopper fare is actually 70 mins not 60, what are people's experience with this?

For anyone who doesn’t know, Thursdays is a dating app that is only accessible on Thursdays. Your matches disappear each week so the idea is that you meet up on the same day as you match. They’ve now started doing an event every Thursday where they hire out a couple bars and everyone there is single & has bought a ticket from the app. It’s not speed dating, just a bar full of singles. Last week it was in the Hackney/Shoreditch area, not sure if it’ll be the same this week but I’m hoping it is!
