A list of puns related to "Seven Pilgrim Churches of Rome"
I have always wondered about why the centre of Rome seemed to move away from original hills (the pomerium area) to the west, closer to the river in the Campus Martius after the fall of the Roman West. Was it as simple as closer access to the water, the Aqua Virgo being one of the few aqueducts not destroyed, and defense being provided by the Aurelian Walls (and so not needing to be up on hilltops like pre-Roman history)?
Any sources I should look up that talk about this as well?

Do you know of any books about the history of the churches in Rome?
Iβm leaving for Italy next week, I know itβs last minute but I got an amazing deal on flights, so Iβm going to do the Via Francigena. The trouble is, all of the websites to get the pilgrim credential are only online sales! Iβm flying into Rome and ideally Iβd get it there; I saw that Tuscany has a couple in-person options but other than that I havenβt seen any. Is it like the Camino de Santiago where there are many points on the route I can get one? Did anyone purchase theirs in person in Italy? Thanks for any help!!
