So my boss just asked me to install some software on a remote server. Because we don't have physical access to the machine, the installer had to be transferred via secure copy first. I'm not that familiar with the scp command and had to look up the documentation. It feels so weird to search for "SCP" and expect something that's not related to the SCP Foundation. Does this happen to anyone else?
As we know from the whitepaper, Bitwarden is passing hashes of the master password over the network for authentication. There's a good write up on intercepting pass-the-hash attacks. 1password uses SRP or Secure Remote Protocol to guard against such MITM attacks (here's how). I understand that a pro of OSS is that it allows users to know if they are being tracked. However, how can I be sure that the code on GitHub is actually being deployed to the iOS App Store, and there isn't some private Signal fork where they add data tracking that actually gets sent?
