A list of puns related to "Sebastian Duterte"
Last year, inspired by The Economist "Country of the Year" nomination, I decided to start making my own. As I explain:
"The Economist has been making, since 2013, a βCountry of the Yearβ nomenation, where they nominate those countries who best improved, or improved the world at large, along the ending year.
Here Iβd like to make my own Country of the Year nominations, that will overlap with the Economist one in some points, but also with some differences. Iβll also make another two categories: Villains of the Year, for the countries where things went worse/had an overall negative influence in the world, and Mixed Cases, for countries where the good and the bad have tied. "
This has been, overall, a very harsh year, with COVID still raging along the world and countries falling to coups and civil wars, but there were also some shining moments, with, overall, an electoral decline in authoritarian populism at least in the developed world.
So, with the current year now ending, it's time to make the 2021 edition.
Villains of the Year
1st Place - Burma: The democratic opening started in 2015 was, from the start, deeply limited and flawed, with the military still keeping a large deal of political influence and the government promoting genocidal actions against the Rohingya. Still, it was a bit of a start, and there was some genuine, even if limitated, political and civil opening.
All this ended with the February coup, when the military retook full powers. Now that country in embroiled on a low-scale civil war, with no end in sight for the military-promoted bloodbath. Everything, as little as it was, that was gained from 2015 has been lost in blood.
2nd Place - Afghanistan: Criticize as much as you want the 2001 invasion, it still led to a semi-democratic government and some improvement both in economic conditions and in human rights, specially those regarding women and the Hazara group.
All this has been lost this August, with the definitive triumph of the Taliban there. A collosal and tragic triumph to tyranny. Now Afghanistan is, once again, under the darkness of totalitarianism.
3rd Place - Ethiopia: In 2018 Abiy Ahmed got into power in Ethiopia, and started a promising democratization process, that earned him the Nobel Peace Prize. Free elections were to have happened in 2020, but ended derailed by COVID.
From this,

Hey film enthusiasts!
A quick reminder that our very first virtual film festival starts in less than 9 days.
Many thanks to those of you who have paid for Festival Passes or those with paid AoDR Memberships - your account should now be updated so that you have access to the whole festival when it starts (log in -> "My account" -> "Festival Passes").
There's still plenty of time to get a full festival pass for only $15 - a bargain! There's still the possibility that we can get a couple of additional films added to the lineup (out of competition), however, this will only be possible with additional ticket sales.
On another note, here are 4 new shorts and features in the category of LGBTQ+ films:
Who Am I Now?: New friends Erin and Alex discover a mutual attraction that neither of them have ever felt before. While Alex tries to navigate her feelings, Erin refuses to acknowledge that she might be gay and heads down a path of self-destruction. Faced with Erin's denial, Alex must decide whether to follow her own path, or fight for the first person she's ever loved. The first feature film by director Louise E. Lathey, Who Am I Now? was an official selection of the Montreal Independent Film Festival and is nominated for Best LGBT+ Film.
Friend Of A Friend: A young man is sexually assaulted and subdues, punishes, then befriends his own attacker while confronting his past and the ambiguities of sexuality. Part fiction, part non-fiction, part autobiography and part dream, Friend of a Friend attempts to broaden the conversation around abuse and its motivations and implications, as well as the survivor vs. assailant dynamic and results of ostracism. An official selection at dozens of international film festivals, including Annecy, Friend of a Friend is nominated for Best LGBT+ Film.
After America: βCan one ever be free of America?,β asks Jake Yuznaβs AFTER AMERICA. A gleefully genre-smashing portrait of what might lie beyond America.
Created through a collaboration with a group of criminal justice workers in Minneapolis, AFTER AMERICA seamlessly merges documentary with staged scenes to explore the real-life struggles of living under the American dream. The resulting fully-improvised film confronts the pain and unrest bubbling under the surface of American today. Premiering at Slamdance 2021, A

Jeffrey Tupas tells Rappler he was at the controversial Davao de Oro beach party Saturday night, but claims he left an hour before PDEA raided it
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterteβs information officer, Jeffrey Tupas, was at the Mabini, Davao de Oro, beach party that was raided for an estimated P1.5 million worth of drugs by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) around 9 pm, Saturday, November 6.
In a phone interview with Rappler on Monday night, November 8, Tupas said, βI was there, thatβs me in the photosβ going around social media in the wake of the raid that led to the arrest of at least 17 persons, including the party host, Revsan Ethelbert Papay Elizalde.
The PDEA listed Elizalde as its main suspect. The law enforcers said the 33-year-old Elizalde of Catalunan PequeΓ±o, Davao City, was the target of the operation that was carried out with the help of the local police and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Elizalde allegedly sold a sachet containing a violet capsule believed to be a party drug and marijuana wrapped in cellophane to an undercover agent, according to PDEA.
As authorities searched, they found some 77 pieces of alleged LSD, 10 grams of alleged shabu, some 722 tablets and capsules of alleged party drugs, nine bottles and two vials of suspected liquid party drugs, and 200 more grams of marijuana.
The seized items were sent to a PDEA laboratory for examination.
In a phone interview with Rappler Monday night, Nabunturan town police chief Captain Janus Mac-liing said those arrested were now in the custody of the PDEA Davao regional office after they went through an inquest in Nabunturan.
On leave Tupas told Rappler he was a guest of Elizalde, whom he described as a businessman engaged in construction. But the Davao City information officer said he left the party at 8 pm with his boyfriend β or about an hour before the raid β since he had work early the following day.
"Since I don't drink colored drinks, ako na ang nag-drive pabalik," he told Rappler. (I was the one who drove back.)
Mayor Duterte's information officer said he did not know of the raid until they arrived in Da

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Buenosdillas
Theyβre on standbi
Pilot on me!!
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
I won't be doing that today!
