Marry Me (RomCom/With

SPOILERS for The Fixed Point (7x10)

Have seen a lot of doubts (understandably so) about Letscher's Thawne on LoT and where he fits in to Thawne's overall Arrowverse timeline, so I thought I'd put together this post to try to explain things the way I see them after watching the latest episode.

The important thing to remember in all this is that when Barry caused Flashpoint, he inadvertantly 'split' Thawne's timeline and created a time remnant of Thawne who exists distinct from the 'original' Thawne. OG Thawne went on to become Harrison Wells, whom we see on The Flash, while the time remnant retained his original face and became the version we see on this show.

So here's the timeline/history of this particular version of Thawne, who's played exclusively by Matt Letscher:

Origin Story

Eobard Thawne is born in the 22nd century and is obsessed with the Flash. After years of research, he's able to give himself the Flash's powers. However, just before he's about to make his grand debut as the Flash of his era, the real Flash shows up (via time-travel) and saves a group of civilians that Thawne was going to save. Angered at the Flash for ''stealing'' his glory, Thawne turns against his former hero. His fate is sealed when he starts time-traveling himself and discovers that he's fated to become the Flash's greatest nemesis. This leads him to snap and become the Reverse-Flash.

War with the Flash

Thawne fights the Flash across time on numerous occassions, but is unaware of the Flash's true identity. Eventually, he discovers that the Flash is Barry Allen. During the Crisis of 2024, Thawne travels back to the year 2000 to kill Barry as a child and erase the Flash, with the Flash pursuing him. The 2024 Flash saves his younger self, but Thawne prepares to kill Nora Allen instead. However, before he's able to do that, another version of the Flash, from 2016, stops him.

Flashpoint and Aftermath

Thawne is imprisoned for months in the 2016 of the Flashpoint timeline, until the Flash is forced to free him to fix the timeline. Thawne, taking Barry with him, travels back to the year 2000 and fulfils his destiny by killing Nora Allen. He then takes Barry back to 2016 before running off. Somehow, due to the disruption caused by Flashpoint, he now exists as a time remnant, who's broken free from his original timeline of being trapped in the year 2000 and becoming Harrison Wells. Or so he thought.

Well, based on the synopsis for 3x10, we know that >!Diggle!< is making another appearance, but who else from the Arrowverse would you like to see on this show?

Not counting the COIE crossover, Batwoman has actually been VERY light on Arrowverse crossovers. For last season, it was understandable...due to COVID protocols, all the shows largely shied away from crossovers, but things are changing now and we're starting to see mini-crossovers among some of the shows again. For starters, Ryan herself showed up in Flash's Armageddon event.

So who'd you like to see on this show?

Some of my picks:

1. Sara Lance. I think the full Legends team would be way too much of a mismatch on this show, but Sara would be perfect. As a former vigilante herself (not to mention a lesbian and leader of a superhero team), she could relate to Ryan and some of her struggles and give her valuable advice. It'll also be interesting to see Sara interact with Mary, especially after everything she's been through lately, since Sara has some experience with that kind of thing.

2. Barry Allen. I've always enjoyed Batman-Flash team-ups in the comics, and I'd like to see a real Batwoman-Flash team-up. It'd be particularly interesting since Barry has encountered Ryan before in the alternate 2031 but Ryan hasn't met the Flash before so it'd be neat to see how she reacts to that and if she's a fan of the Flash. It'd be interesting for the rest of the team too, since I don't think Kate shared much of her work with other heroes with Luke and Mary.

3. Roy Harper. Mainly because I want another Team Arrow member to show up in Gotham. I think, much like Diggle, Roy could be a mentor to Luke, as a former 'sidekick' himself. And I think he could relate to Ryan because they do come from somewhat similar backgrounds and understand the streets and why people there need a hero to protect them.

4. Superman. Okay, at some point I think it'd be neat for Clark to make a visit to his old buddies stomping ground and team up with his latest successor. Superman is someone Ryan would have grown up hearing about and possibly(?) idolizing so it would be interesting to see her and the team react to working with this living legend. They might also get to learn more about Batman from the perspective of someone who was truly a peer to him.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. I am re-watching all the shows on chronological order, and to me, both the worlds shown on Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 and The Flash Season 3 are pretty similar, as both them are fucked up, and to me, makes sense the Anti-Metahuman act happens on 2024 timeline, as probably the Barry Allen from that future has fallen into darkness after Iris West dies, and so, if he killed someone, that would activate the senses of the citizen and the politicians about the danger that is let all Metahuman and The Flash with full freedom, also, there is no mention of metahumans existing or on freedom except Mirror Master and TOP, and so, there is Julian Albert trying to save Caitlin Snow while she is in prison, and probably the government could lie to him and instead they are using that test of him to study her Metahuman gene. Also, I believe the Arrow fucked up future could happen on both storylines (the one that everything outside Starling City is safe, and the one that Central City is fucked up too). There is the future of 2046 Starling City on Legends of Tomorrow (Earth-16? bullshit, makes no sense Oliver Queen stating that Sara Lance died on 2007 while he states earlier on Legends of Tomorrow that she left with the Legends and that's why their future is so fucked up, so probably he has memory problems), that could happen too, even more if you consider the fact that there is no Flash on this timeline as he isn't fighting anymore or he is dead because of the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Alright folks, it's been a very competitive nomination round, but after 400+ entries, countless votes, multiple ties, and several late surges, we've finalized the ballot for the /r/DCcomics Best of 2021 Awards. We selected 5-6 nominees for each category, but some contests were so tight that we had to let in a 7th or even 8th nominee.
