Can we get a discussion going on where this man has been all year ? I don’t watch many Blues games but would love to hear thoughts from those who do or those who own him and why.
I got him as a part of a trade and am wondering if he should stay or get sent down the river as his numbers seem to be slumping.
He is my most consistent sniper and rebound scorer despite being one of my lowest OVR forwards. He outscores my XF Mack and XF Stamkos somehow. Not to mention his discipline is good, positioning is good, and faceoff ability is clutch. I have him maxed and he still isn’t fast, but speed is overrated in some situations. Just had to defend my boy 87 OVR XF Ryan O’Reilly😎
Guy got 54 points last year, I believe he is on line 1 and PP1 and he’s not been producing lately. Anything different this year that might’ve caused it? His shooting % is way down this year and I can’t really tell why
Some of you may be disappointed with ROR’s production so far with 3 Goals, 6 Assists for a total of 9 Points in 15 games. He should see some positive regression for his assists because that’s currently unsustainable so I won’t discuss that. However, you may have to lower your expectations if you’re expecting him to match his goals pace from last season.
Last season, he put up 24 goals in 56 games. This averaged out to 0.43 goals/game. If it was a full 82 game season he would’ve been on pace for 35 goals. However, the 24 Goals on 129 shots last season was a result of an inflated shooting percentage of 18.6%, compared to his career 10.6 S%.
If we were to use his career S% of 10.6% in place of last season’s 18.6% on his 129 shots taken, it would equal 13.6 (0.106 S% x 129 shots = 13.6 goals). Rounding up, this means he should have had roughly 14 goals in last season’s 56 games (on pace for 20 goals in 82 games) using his average career S%. Instead, the unsustainable jump from a 10.6% to 18.6% S% netted him an additional 10 goals.
Let’s take a look at the small sample size of the 15 games he’s played this season so far. With 32 shots taken he has 3 goals. This comes to a S% of 9.4% which is slightly below his career average of 10.6%. If he continues to average the 2.13 shots/game that he is, he should be on pace for 18.5 goals. Unfortunately, he’s not underperforming but is just regressing to his career average due to last season’s unsustainable shooting percentage.

For my XFactor pack I wasn’t happy with any of my 5 choices. So I ended up taking Ryan O’Reilly. I was simply hoping he would last a long time as a 4th line penalty killer.
I’m sure that’s where he will probably end up, but for right now he’s kinda great!
I activated his faceoff quick draw, and he almost never loses a faceoff.
And I also activated his enhanced passing and he passes like it’s still the 2021 HUT passing.
Winning all these draws and being able to pass this well makes him a great weapon offensively and defensively.
I’m not expecting him to stay up with the great cards coming. But for at least right now. He’s a blast to play with, and really good!
So if you’re not happy with your choices, and O’Reilly is in the pack, he’s worth considering.

I have to say even though Ryan was well not the best person and did a lot of shady things he loves his brother and he would do anything for him
Man, time flies.
Excluding this year, in which he was twice diagnosed with Covid-19, he is 16th since 2018 and ahead of Aho and Zibanajad.
Based on this statistic I find it extremely unlikely he would be exposed in the expansion draft. It also seems that his trade value may in fact be higher than a bag of pucks.
Love Oz but WOW is there ever too much focus on Ryan and his brother, two of the worst performances in the show by far.
Don't get me wrong though, Ryan as the devilish sneaky dude who was crafty was perfect, and an amazing story driver and he did act quite well in that.
But aaaaalll the Gloria stuff and the mom stuff and the brother stuff and the on and on....so many other good characters to be explored. Hell I enjoyed some of the cameo characters a lot more and thought a few of them could have been expanded upon greatly.
Who do you think deserved more focus? Bonus points if it was a short-lived character. pun intended
