A list of puns related to "Ron Settles"
According to Wikipedia, in the prior three years Ron Rivera was DC for a very impressive Bears defense, was voted Assistant Coach of the Year, and went to the Super Bowl. He even interviewed for several head coach positions in 2007.
I get that negotiations for an extension with the Bears fell through, but why didn't he end up as a DC somewhere else at the very least?
Ron slander isnβt anything new, but I recently saw a video criticizing the trope where the intelligent, beautiful woman always gets romantically paired with a mediocre man who never truly appreciates her, and they use Ron and Hermione as an example.
What? They do bicker alot, but are we going to act like friends donβt tease and make fun of each other? Ron has done nothing BUT support Hermione. He sticks up for Hermione when she gets bullied, and constantly remarked on how smart she is. Iβm not saying that the trope doesnβt exist in media (because it very much does), but applying that to Ron and Hermione is super inaccurate. Itβs clear in the books how much Ron loves her.
This complaint also goes hand in hand with how people seem to remember Hermione being the perfect heroine with no flaws and always having the right thing to say. Do people not remember that sheβs arrogantly stubborn, socially awkward, and had typical teen girl insecurities? They both had lots of strengths and weaknesses that balanced each other out.
>βHeβs on our side now,β said Hermione reprovingly.
>Ron snorted. βDoesnβt stop him being a git. The way he looks at us when he sees us.β
That's snape's character summarized in two sentences. Lol

June 2, 1981: Ron Settles was murdered while in police custody by Signal Hill Police in California.
Ron Settles was a California State University, Long Beach and Banning High School football player who was arrested by the Signal Hill Police Department in 1981.
The Arrest and Murder:
The incident began when he was pulled over for speeding by the Signal Hill Police Department in Long Beach, California. He was arrested after a scuffle with SHPD white officers.
The morning after his arrest, he was found severely beaten and hung in his jail cell. A furor erupted afterwards over the nature of his death, as the police said the death was a suicide. No one was prosecuted for Settlesβ death, but the city of Signal Hill did pay a large settlement to the family.
Aftermath:
The case had long-term impacts on the reputation of Signal Hill, although a new police chief took steps to reform the police department. The case was an early high-profile case handled by attorney Johnnie Cochran, who represented the family. One of the policemen implicated in the incident was also represented by another noted civil rights attorney, Stephen Yagman.
In a subsequent coronerβs inquest, attorney Johnny Cochran demonstrated the chokehold, which resulted in a juryβs finding that Settles had died βat the hands of another.β Moreover, the decision was reversed in court following the testimony of Dr. Michael Baden, who determined there was no evidence that Settles had died from hanging, but was most likely killed by a chokehold.
The city settled with the Settles out of court in 1983 for $1 million dollars.
Settlesβ death was one of several highly controversial deaths of arrestees in the 1970s and 80s that changed the way police departments dealt with prisoners. Many police departments now videotape jail areas; any time a police officer or correctional officer touches a prisoner in a restraining way, a report is required to be written. These measures are intended to decrease the chances of police brutality in prison cells.
In Pop Culture:Β Settlesβ story was told by Dr. Baden on the HBO series, Autopsy.
Charles Burnettβs 1995 film, The Glass Shield, was partially based on the Settles case.
So, Ron Paul was a physician, and delivered a lot of babies for a living. He obviously has a pro-life stance on the abortion issue, and does believe that human life begins at conception. Note that this is position on abortion.
However, a lot of people on Reddit have been saying that he'd force this upon the American public, which is just plain untrue. It seems like people are doing this to paint him as a theocrat that will force his beliefs upon other people, which is the exact opposite of his beliefs.
Yes, he is religious. Yes, he is against abortion. But, he believes in a person's fundamental liberty, and believes that you can be as religious or atheistic as you want, or pro-life or pro-choice. The federal government has no right to regulate your personal life. Rather, it is an issue that should be decided based upon the feelings of each state. The federal government, he believes, under the 9th and 10th Amendments, have no power to forbid it. States, however, can allow it.
In short, just because he doesn't agree with an issue, that doesn't mean he wants to bend other people to his will. He doesn't support abortion, so he won't encourage people to get one. But that doesn't stop him from letting people still do it.
Rather than correct this at every occurrence (which is kinda a lot), it'd be better to set the record straight once and for all. Thoughts?
RON.
PAUL.
the strength. the masculinity. never in doubt.
Magical Guardian - The idea of muggle raised needing representation in wizard society is a good idea but is usually taken to the point where the Guardian can make unbreakable contracts and steal all the money that is in a bank vault.
Lord and Houses - Again an interesting idea to help in building the magical world but it's usually just a way to Harry to do what he wants without consequence and give speeches.
This isn't to complain I actually enjoy most on occasions. Any others?
Welcome to the week 17 Official r/NFL Power Rankings! The fans will celebrate the new year with an extra week of football along with players like Cooper Kupp, TJ Watt, and Kyle Pitts. With only three playoff slots remaining, some others are wishing the regular season ended today. Did the Colts drop too far after a loss to the broken Raiders? After another monster performance from Burrow, have the Bengals proved their legitimacy? Are distractions and a close win to a bottom feeder enough to move Tampa Bay? Discuss! 30/32 reporting.

1. | Packers | -- | 13-3 | First seeds! Unbelievably with the chaotic offseason we've had, the NFC still runs through Green Bay! Cold weather Lambeau usually doesn't disappoint, and the Packers surely didn't by blowing out the Vikes by 27. Kirk's COVID case doomed Minnesota's offense, but our offense left no doubt about the margin. Mannion made it hard to really judge how well the defense played, but Dalvin Cook did nothing all game which is always a good sign. Now to maybe rest Week 18, but Aaron wants to keep the momentum going so God I hope we don't have another injury next week. | |
2. | Buccaneers | +1 | 12-4 | The Buccaneers managed to win in the final minute over the New York Jets with another miraculous comeback by the GOAT. But that's not why you're reading these power rankings. Because the Buccaneers picked up a second win this weekend with a farewell to Mr. Bogus Covid, Mr. Boss Combat, Mr. Botched Cryotherapy, Mr. Boulder Chucker, Mr. Bunging Couches, Mr... Jan'kul stood on the palisade wall, staring out into the darkness. The workers were manning the wall with the guards in shifts, allowing everyone to rotate and stay relatively fresh. But, as the woodworker stared into the night, his gastrophetes in hand, his mind wandered.
A large part of Jan'kul's mind wished he was going with everyone when they left on their journey. It was the pull of adventure that brought him out to this outpost last winter to see and experience all the amazing things he had. True, his mate was strong and independent, and his daughter was almost grown and ready to go out on her own, but a winter away from his family and leaving for good were two very different things.
The woodworker sighed in resignation and acceptance. He'd made the right decision, but that doesn't mean he didn't experience some regret. He was the only worker out of the original outpost crew who wasn't going. Though that could work in his favor as much as against it. With the departure of Lady Fea'en, he would now be one of the most experienced woodworkers in the village. Maybe he could use that to increase his station in the village. If he thought about it, things were actually looking up for him!
So why was his mind still wandering as he envisioned a future he'd never have...

To'brel woke up feeling like he'd hardly slept at all. But, of course, that was because that's exactly what happened. In many ways, it reminded him of his first night here. Admittedly he had a bit more privacy now that they'd put him up in his own room, but there were just as many things running through his mind as that first night, maybe more so.
As he sat up and rubbed his face, the events of the previous day struck him once again. Only a day ago, he'd woken up ready for another day at the outpost, nothing had seemed out of the ordinary, and he'd had no indication the state of things would be changing any time soon. Yet, today his father was dead, he was Lord of his village, Lord A'ngles seemed tied in with the village and his father in ways To'brel had never heard before now, and apparently, the young noble...young Lord he corrected himself, was a central figure in a war about to be fought between Lord A'gles's seemingly vast army and the smaller but much better armed and armored outpost he was now a guest of. So why was he so numb?
To'brel shook his head at himself. He should be devastated by the loss of his father and terrified of his new responsibilities. Then there was the politics and the war... He had no idea what he should feel about those. Instead, he was sitting in bed, completely paralyzed, deciding between getting up and looking for something to

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
