Perhaps well established and old news in the subreddit, but I didn't notice on my first watch through and always wanted to mention it here.
After Roger invites himself over for dinner, then hits on Betty in the kitchen as Don is outside, Don is seen getting into the elevator at work with the elevator operator. He takes out a wad of cash and says "Let me ask you a question..." to the operator.

Afterwards Don takes RS to lunch and encourages him to eat and drink a ton. Then they head back to work and we see the elevator serviceman who informs them the elevator is down. They are forced to take the stairs because of Bert's Nixon meeting, and Roger gets sick from the exertion. Totally planned. Roger has his heart attack soon after as well.

At the beginning of the year, my goal was to watch 30 films from a different actor/actress every month. I ripped the idea off a friend who came up with a "30 Days of Costner" list, which I then preceded to steal his list and complete that task. I then did months for Marion Cotillard, Meryl Streep, Danny DeVito, and Nic Cage. It was at this point that I knew that doing this every month wasn't going to be sustainable, so instead I decided that I would simply continue on with the rest of Cage's filmography, daunting as it may be. Here's the results:

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) - Quite possibly the GOAT comic book movie. 5/5

Raising Arizona (1987) - Is it possible to adore Holly Hunter anymore than I already do? Likely not. But yeah, a great comedy that gets a bit crazy when it needs to, and with some terrific supporting performances. 5/5

Adaptation. (2002) - Probably my favorite Nic Cage performance? Also, Chris Cooper was creepy as hell in this and was just perfect. Like most Kauffman films, still not fully comprehending the movie even after a rewatch. 4.5/5

Pig (2021) - Come for the Nic Cage absurdity, stay for the gorgeous slow-burn examination of existentialism. 4.5/5

Wild at Heart (1990) - This movie went *insert heavy meal riffs* from zero to 100 pretty fast. Thought the scenes with the mom *insert heavy metal riffs* could've used some trimming and not be so f'n weird. *Insert heavy metal riffs* Obligatory stanning of Laura Dern. 4.5/5

National Treasure (2004) - "Snorkel. See, I can do it, too. Albuquerque" Is it dumb? Yes. Am I being biased because of nostalgia? Also yes. But is this still extremely entertaining and fun? Also, yes. I might need to go on a Sean Bean kick here soon, because I'll be damned if the man isn't one of the best at delivering lines, no matter how ridiculous they are. 4.5/5

Joe (2013) - The third act could've used some re-writing, but overall a really solid film and one of Cage's better performances.4/5

Lord of War (2005) - I've seen this plenty of times before, still pretty entertaining each time. 4/5

Rumble Fish (1983) - Oh man, so many things to enjoy about this movie. The stylization, the score, the casting. I also think this is my introduction younger Mickey Rourke, which is...something. 4/5

The Rock (1996) - What a cast. Third act was a little bit if a let down compared to the rest of the movie. 4/5

Leaving Las Vegas (1995) - Well that was grim. Cage was pretty great here, no qualms with him g

I love rewatches. Just rewatched S1E7 Red in the Face. I've never caught it before, but as hes heading to meet Roger for lunch, Don tips Hollis the elevator operator and asks him something, but we don't know what.

Don and Roger go and out drink/eat each other and wouldnt ya know it...elevators are out when they return.

Maybe I'm slow, but I never put together that Don orchestrated all that to let Roger know that Don was the Alpha.

Little things like this make me enjoy this show so much

So, I swear I'm not crazy, lol, but I've been collecting lore about this game since release and have played the campaign through many, many, many times. I really love the story and all the characters and wanted to learn all I could about them. After getting yet another question about wtf is going on in the game, I figured I'd finally sit down and type up all the lore I have so that others could also enjoy it. Everything I've written here is canon as I understand it. I have refs and such and can provide what I have to the best of my ability if anyone has questions. Anything written here is referenced in-game, by devs outside the game, or in promo material. And anything that's an assumption or inference should be stated as such.

Full disclosure: I main Hoffman, so there's an amount of info about him in here since I get to hear his lines a lot. I'm also a technical writer, not a creative writer, so bear with me, lol.

One last thing! I'm going to make a post with all the info I have on each Cleaner next, so look out for that!

Pre-History

The first Devil Worm was found frozen 2500 feet under the Pingualuit crater in Quebec, Canada and taken to nearby Quebec City to be studied. Though frozen, the worm awoke when water was dropped onto it in order to view it under a microscope. Because it was found frozen within a crater, there are implications that it may be extraterrestrial in origin. The Devil Worm infestation originated in Quebec City, Canada (hence all the "blame Canada!" graffiti around the levels) and spread globally from there. (Sidenote: none of the characters in the game know about the extraterrestrial origin of the Devil Worm (that we know of). The audience is privy to this information because of the cinematic trailer.)

The Devil Worm breeds in and is heavily attracted to water. This is VERY BAD for those of us that consume water to live. Once the worms got into the water supply, everyone had drunk them or eaten them in watered crops in a very short period of time (assumption, cus water lol). This is how the infection spread as quickly as it did. In Evansburgh, the infection rate climbed from 20k in August to 100k+ by December. In months, the infection rate was more than any world government could handle. This is what is referred to as The Collapse. No one had any time to consider options, make

Welcome to the Cleaner Lore Dump! I promised I'd do this, Haha. Below is all the lore I've collected on the Cleaners and some NPCs throughout playing the game (and squinting very hard at images). I adore all the characters in this game (minus a few ha) and wanted to share my love for them with you all! Everything here is canon as I understand it - I can give refs for anything if people would like them! Feel free to bug me with questions and assumptions should be labeled, but please call me out if you think I forgot any. Tried to make this dump as readable as possible, hope I succeeded at least a little!

Full disclosure: If you read my Story Dump, you know what's coming. I main Hoffman, so he has the most info (I even left some voice line stuff out).

Even though I've played oodles of this game, I still hear new voice lines all the time! If you've heard a voice line that I haven't represented below, let me know about it!

AD is often criticized for not doing more as a first option, context free. I figured we could gloss over some of the rosters from the time that AD played for the Pelicans to see what the issue may have been. Lets play a game called: "Why did this guy start for an NBA team?"

Some of these players started from extreme injury scenarios, some were just reps for young guys, and most were legitimately players that were in the regular rotation for some reason.

2013:

Greivis Vasquez - 78 games started, 50% TS, out of the league by age 30.

Al-Farouq Aminu - 71 games started, 52% TS, out of the league by age 30.

Robin Lopez - 82 games started, not that bad but underwhelming and definitely should be a bench player.

Austin Rivers - 26 games started, 61 played, 43% TS (Holy shit), bench caliber player.

Roger Mason (?) - 13 games started, 69 played, 57% TS (Okay Roger), career journeyman who occasionally had a decent bench role.

Brian Roberts - 5 games started, 78 played, 51% TS, out of the league after a 4 year career.

Darius Miller - 2 games started, 52 played, 53% TS, out of the league by age 30.

Xavier Henry - 2 games started, 50 played, 48% TS, out of the league by age 23.

This is to debunk Andrew Huang's "Things The Beatles invented or popularized" Twitter post, which has many things that're incorrect. Here is what Andrew got wrong:

Artists writing their own songs: Not the case at all, even for rock/pop music. All of Chuck Berry's albums from the 1950s have songs that're all written by him. Roy Orbison is another example, as all of his hits have him credited as a composer. Buddy Holly & The Crickets' bigger songs are also credited to members of the band, as well as their manager Norman Petty. All of these artists are still pretty well known and were huge influences on The Beatles, so it's not like they're really obscure.

Concept Albums: Sgt. Pepper's state as a concept album is up for debate. Even members of the band have said it isn't a concept album, which is mentioned in the Wikipedia article for the album. It's also commonly known that In the Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra in 1955 is generally regarded as the first concept album in pop music, as well as being one of the first pop albums to be sold on 12-inch record. It was a commercial success and is regarded as one of the best albums of the 1950s by critics, again not really obscure. There's also a certain other concept album that preceded Pepper, but I'll get into that later.

Gapless Tracks: The Beatles did popularize this on Pepper, however it was arguably pioneered by The Mothers of Invention's 1966 debut Freak Out!, as well as it being used extensively on their 1967 follow up Absolutely Free.

Bands with more than one "star": It's time to bring up The Beach Boys, which won't be the last time. Starting out before The Beatles (releasing their first album Surfin' Safari before "Love Me Do"), all members have contributed lead vocals to their hit songs at least once in their early period. Throughout that period of the band, they were mainly led by Brian Wilson and Mike Love. So they did have more than one "star." And if we're talking bands that had more than one successful solo career, there's Buffalo Springfield and The Yardbirds exist.

Recording music that can't be performed live / Using the studio as an instrument: I decided to combine these two together, as it makes me bring up two artists: Phil Spector and The Beach Boys. Phil Spector is one of, if not the first example of a producer using the studio in a cutting edge way and making a hit record out of it. Using his signature "Wall of Sound" technique, he was really the first producer

We begin with a voice-over, explaining the concept of the show. "Outside this Bel Air bachelor pad twenty-five babes have gathered, 'cause they have two things in common: their love for rock n' roll, and for one man who's made it his life." Well, I know it's still rock n' roll to Billy Joel. Is he really still that desirable to the silicone set? In fact, no! The man in question is, of course, Bret Michaels, lead singer of Poison, who has sold 20 million records. Two of which might have belonged to me. WHEN I WAS TWELVE. WHAT? I also had permed bangs. The onset of puberty was a very confusing time. We get some vintage footage of Bret, and are reminded that he wants us to talk dirty to him, and needs nothing but a good time. So he's an undemanding mate, which seems like it could be a positive quality.

Bret spends nine months out of the year on the road. Like, on the side of the road, selling zucchini from his garden? Because I didn't realize Poison was so in demand in the late 2000s. Rock n' roll is the reason for, and destruction of, all of Bret's relationships, he says. You may note that this sentence really doesn't stand up to a rigorous grammatical test. Consider it a primer. Oh, and ha! This turn to more meaningful matters cues the song "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." I hope you enjoy this song, because you'll be hearing a lot of it. Bret says that when he was fifteen years old, he was handed the secret to love. "Touch my backstage pass" doesn't even make enough sense to actually be dirty.

In any case, Bret has a nice house in the desert and a motocross track and lots of money and two daughters. When VH1 offered him the opportunity to meet "twenty-five of the most beautiful women in the world," he couldn't refuse. When is that going to happen?

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Livi and Senna were woken out a deep sleep by an all-hands alert. “All hands to stations. Dropping from warp in two hours, ten minutes. Answering distress call per article 17-J.”

Livi jumped into her uniform without thinking about it and raced to the engineering bay. Jorge and Ava were already there, and Otto was close behind.

“Listen up.” Ava was all business. “We’ve got unknown vessels with a distress call in what used to be Sylanth space. It’s probably an ambush. If it’s pirates, we know what to do.”

“If it’s probably an ambush, why are we answering?” Otto asked.

“It’s the law. Besides, I hope if I ever end up stranded in the black there’s a Terran ship out there that can hear me,” Jorge said.

“If it’s real, we help. If not, we follow the drill. Give ‘em what they want and live to walk away, right,” Ava said.

“Someone needs to tell the colonists—” Otto began.

“Security is already there, making sure they don’t get themselves hurt. Jorge, you and Otto get to the cargo hold, help the loaders figure out what we have in terms of fuel, which they’re claiming they’re out of, and what we can shift out for them that might make them happy if it’s pirates. Livi, come with me.”

Ava led Livi to the fabrication room and removed one of the rings from her pocket. “You said this could run off the sensor power rail, right?”

“Yes.”

She pointed at the sensor Livi had removed earlier in the day. “Replace the sensor in that gimbal with this ring. I’ve already measured everything out, just design and print it.”

“What are you going to do?”

“I’m going to grab all the tungsten from the fab supply and hope we don’t need it.”

Livi designed and printed the part needed to fit the ring into the sensor gimbal. She was only marginally aware of the change in the all-hands messages, as she was deep into her work. Once the part was ready, she hooked the wormhole ring into the gimbal.

Ava and Jorge ran into the fabrication room. “Have you got it?” Jorge asked, wearing an EVA suit.

“Right here.” She handed him the gimbal and noted that he had all the tools he needed to change out a sensor.

Ava had a headset on, and Jorge was already fitting his helmet as he ran toward the airlock

This is to debunk Andrew Huang's "Things The Beatles invented or popularized" Twitter post, which has many things that're incorrect. Here is what Andrew got wrong:

Artists writing their own songs: Not the case at all, even for rock/pop music. All of Chuck Berry's albums from the 1950s have songs that're all written by him. Roy Orbison is another example, as all of his hits have him credited as a composer. Buddy Holly & The Crickets' bigger songs are also credited to members of the band, as well as their manager Norman Petty. All of these artists are still pretty well known and were huge influences on The Beatles, so it's not like they're really obscure.

Concept Albums: Sgt. Pepper's state as a concept album is up for debate. Even members of the band have said it isn't a concept album, which is mentioned in the Wikipedia article for the album. It's also commonly known that In the Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra in 1955 is generally regarded as the first concept album in pop music, as well as being one of the first pop albums to be sold on 12-inch record. It was a commercial success and is regarded as one of the best albums of the 1950s by critics, again not really obscure. There's also a certain other concept album that preceded Pepper, but I'll get into that later.

Gapless Tracks: The Beatles did popularize this on Pepper, however it was arguably pioneered by The Mothers of Invention's 1966 debut Freak Out!, as well as it being used extensively on their 1967 follow up Absolutely Free.

Bands with more than one "star": It's time to bring up The Beach Boys, which won't be the last time. Starting out before The Beatles (releasing their first album Surfin' Safari before "Love Me Do"), all members have contributed lead vocals to their hit songs at least once in their early period. Throughout that period of the band, they were mainly led by Brian Wilson and Mike Love. So they did have more than one "star." And if we're talking bands that had more than one successful solo career, there's Buffalo Springfield and The Yardbirds exist.

Recording music that can't be performed live / Using the studio as an instrument: I decided to combine these two together, as it makes me bring up two artists: Phil Spector and The Beach Boys. Phil Spector is one of, if not the first example of a producer using the studio in a cutting edge way and making a hit record out of it.
