A list of puns related to "Rocori High School"
What up! I'm a high school english teacher, and my juniors and I decided that our last quarter of world lit was going to be manga and light novels. They suggested a bunch of titles for me to get for the classroom library, but I don't read a lot of light novels, so I wanted to run them by someone who might know them.
For what counts as "appropriate" I don't mean "a high schooler can read this" I mean "I, their teacher, will not get in trouble for bringing this into the classroom." Which means,
No nudity/on-screen sexy-times
No super graphic violence
Moderate drug use/drinking
Basically nothing that would get a movie rated R, except swearing, swears are fine.
Here's the list:
Konosuba
Date A Live
Sword Art Online: Progressive
Re: Zero
The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
There might be more, I'm still waiting to hear from the other class. I'm making a similar post with a manga list in r/manga.
I thought it would be fun to see a snapshot of all of the 1st Rd Picks and how they were rated / recruited out of High School. I used Rivals.com for all the data.
All the columns are self-explanatory, but a few to note:
HS Position - This is the position that the player was recruited as coming out of high school. ATH = athlete.
Pos Rank - This is the player's national ranking at their recruited position for their year's high school class.
Rating - Rivals rating of the recruit:
Some interesting notes:

Like the title says, I have taught middle school social studies for the past 9 years and just learned I will be moving to the high school. Iβm not sure what grades I will be teaching but I will be joining the history department.
Are there any tips from you all who have made a similar move? My last experience teaching high school was student teaching (it was 10th graders and they were still one of my favorite classes Iβve ever taught). I am excited for the move, but nervous as well!
Edit: a word
I'm 17 and my first time on site as an electrician pre-apprentice will be a week from today. I'm excited but also a little nervous because I'm a young girl, and don't really know all the lingo. Any advice or some insight into what it might be like would be amazing!
As the title says, I'm graduating at 16 and I won't be 17 until my second month of university. AMA!
Son: βDad, put me down, youβre embarrassing me.β
Yooo it just hit me today that I gave my final speech in my final debate round today!! Iβm part of my high schoolβs policy debate team and Iβm graduating this June and it just hit me that this was my last moment in debate. Debate had been a large part of my life for the past 4 years and Iβm sure a lot of us can relate to that nostalgic and sad moment when you realize this is your last βthingβ of High school. Whether itβs sports or academics, Iβm sure a lot of us will remember our last participation in our respected club or sport.
With that being said, today my brother asked me if I had any regrets and in all honesty, my only regret is not enjoying it more. And if I could hand out any advice to the following graduating classes its that you should enjoy your time in High School as much as you can , whether itβs through friends or clubs, enjoy it guys! Life/High School go by in a flash and in all honesty, the moment right after delivering my final speech, I just remembered all the great memories I had with friends and the debate team. Countless hours prepping or stressing suddenly seemed more appealing at that moment haha but I truly cherish the memories I built and I hope you all do too! Farewell!
Before you declare me as an insane teacher setting themselves up for countless hours of work (not untrue), hear me out.
I sent an email to all parents informing them of this. So many of them loved it and promised their kid would do the work. Great!
...2 kids have turned in work so far. The assignments were half-assed and got a half-grade.
But now, no parents will be asking me "what I can do to save their kid's grade". In fact, parents now know this responsibility lies entirely on their kid to complete.
And my policy is that if you cheat once, you lose this privilege, as outlined in the email, so the real shortcut-loving kids might even exclude themselves from this offer.
At the end of the year, kids are either going to bust their asses working for many hours per day, or they're going to keep putting it off until the last day of school. Either way, lesson learned on their end, and I've done everything I can to make it right for the kids.
I strongly consider doing the same. Want to add a penalty for late work? Only give a 65 for each assignment. That way they are working for a reduced reward, and MIGHT pass if they put in the full effort.
I'm not surprised I love them so much. I'm a huge thrash metal fan and all the bands say they say Judas Priest is one of their top influences. Now for tone...
I assume I should only worry about a bridge humbucker, that is the only way i've seen priest played. My current setup is Boss katana 50 with an Ibanez RG with a tone zone bridge pickup (fairly high gain, very dark bass and mid heavy). I have a tone that is somewhat close, but it's not quite there yet. A bit too muddy still and not as crisp as the old stuff. So maybe my tone just needs some tweaking.
I was wonder what you all recommend for getting that older style tone? I think i read Priest went to actives later in life, but to get that old school tone is it better to get a older school PAF and just crank the gain or is a pickup like my tone zone exactly what I need?
I've been thinking about getting another guitar with a lower gain/brighter bridge humbucker for stuff like AC/DC so I was wondering if which guitar would be best for priest.
I'm a 18-year-old male and I spent $2,000 (USD) on my high school prom. AMA!
Not sure if this is the right place to post. I couple of weeks ago, 2 boys in the locker-bay randomly decide to start laughing loudly after another junior showed them what the Indian Siri sounds like. At that moment, I didn't know what was so funny but man.. I was waiting for what felt like an incredibly long time to hear the joke. Anyways, they had a laugh for like a solid 15 seconds and called over their mates afterwards. The junior asks Siri how much a Big Mac is to which Siri said the price. I don't know what got to them, but hearing this guy's accent was so fucking hilarious to them and I couldn't help but feel really shit. Not to mention after they heard the guy's accent, my friend thinks it's funny to add: "Imagine after they asked that he gave the price in rupees." I have an Indian accent I speak at home and and a English accent when I'm around my white friends. I don't know why though, I've always been like this.
I told my friend about how it made me feel bad, so my friend being the kind and honest person he is decides to say: "If a Chinese person heard an English accent for example, they'd probably laugh too." Really? Are you fucking kidding me? What rubbish! They knew full well what they were doing! Mocking a person's accent because it doesn't sound 'proper' to them isn't okay! I know this post has a rather angry tone of voice to it but I don't know where else to post this, I just wanted to let this off my chest. On a side note though, isn't mocking a non-white accent just casual racism?
First off, I live in a decent family area of Seoul surrounded by mostly elementary schools and middle schools and have lived at this location for 5+ years. Most of the people I see out and about are families with younger children, such as mine. However, after about 11pm every night, from seemingly out of nowhere, older kids appear and often hang out eating ramen, smoking, being loud and leaving trash all over the playground. Admittingly, I don't know exactly how old these kids are (either high school or just out - 20-ish) and that will probably make the difference as to how I should handle the situation.
Usually it's just a few kids, of which none live in our complex, and the apartment adjosshi comes and cleans up after them, although not very well. But, there is always leftover crap (cigarette buts, ramen cups, snack wrappers, etc.) that is unsightly. Last night though, there was a group of about 10 boys (men?). They were apparently having some kind of "party", no masks, eating, smoking, and throwing whole bags of flour on each other (which I later learned is for some sort of graduation?)
I called the cops. Before they could arrive, the apartment adjosshi went out there and when they saw him, they bolted, jumping a fence. When the police got there, about 10 minutes later, I explained to them what had happened. They didn't care at all. I even pointed out to them that the group of boys were "over there" at the next apartment over's playground. They had no desire to go after them. The police were more concerned with calming me down and saying everything would be okay.
I understand kids will be kids. But when you vandalize, break noise ordinances, ignore social distancing laws and trespass (not that that is even a thing in Korea), shouldn't there be some sort of repercussion?
I own my apartment. I pay to keep the grounds clean and to the apartment security who never confront anyone, just clean up after them. My daughter and countless others use the playground. There's a kindergarten in our complex that uses the playground, but of course, no one wants to say or do anything to stop it. It's probably not worth pursuing the matter as no one else seems to care, and maybe I just need to vent to you all, but it's not right. So, .......
any advice?
Edit: just so we are clear, these kids (adults?) don't go to their own apartments to do this. They know the behavior is not acceptable and would fear reprise from their apartment adjosshi/parents/neighbors. At our ap
