Why was there no Scottish coronation of James VII and II, William, Mary and Anne? Also what was the public reaction to this in Scotland?
Why did James VII and II not have a Scottish coronation? From what Iβve read I can only assume that it was due to a lack of time since it took 8 years for Charles I to be crowned in Scotland after his accession to the throne. If this was the case, what led William and Mary and then Anne to only have crowning ceremonies in England? And what was the reaction by contemporaries to this?
Cheers for the help!
