I have a ROG 3080 mining at home in my gaming PC. I tried to supplement my income by adding a GPU riser with a 2070 super. I can't get the motherboard to detect the 2070. The card will power up but windows wont show it in the hardware list. Any advanced users out there know the best fix? Thanks!

How does a PCI-E Expansion Card work? Is it safe and effective? I want to try using one instead of having to plug in the risers into several different PCI-E slots on the motherboard (for conveniency purposes), but I don’t know if it’ll actually be stable/safe/durable for a long time 🤷🏻‍♂️

Powering cards / pci risers / pci slots

I know this has been asked quite a number of times about powering risers but my question is slightly different.

The mining board I have needs power to the PCI slots, do I need to power the PCI slots and power the Risers...and the cards or just the PCI Risers and the cards?

I've seen plenty of comments about having to power PCI Risers and have seen answers about using the 6 PIN power connector from the SATA cable -- is this true, does it work? Are there any polarity or any types other differences between a PCI 6 pin vs Sata 6 pin?

Is this wiring okay and safe? For 1660 Super? One PCIe cable from Motherboard has 2 PCIE 8 pins. Each 8 pin connector has a splitter, powering the card and that card’s riser.

Gpus will only mine in main slot...cards will error or computer crash when plugged into other pcie via riser. Have tried all pcie generations and have mobo set to mining. Above 4g also enabled. Virtual memory has been increased. Not sure what I'm missing.

I have a rx580 only pulling 71watts while my other 4 pull about 130. This is causing my card to only get 13mhs. I've done all the bios work, got stable overclocks, changed risers and connectors. Is this a sign of a dead card?

Tried multiple risers, different pcie slots, different OS. No matter which OS I use this card causes issues. In Windows it will work but the OC resets and power limit disables after a while. Do I have a faulty card?

Q58 pcie 4.0 riser card not long enough for mini-DTX boards

I purchased a Lian Li Q58 and a ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact AM4 (mini-DTX not ITX).

Unfortunately, this board isn't compatible with the Q58 since the riser card cable cannot reach the PCIE slot - it's short by about two inches.

I've been searching around for a replacement PCIE 4.0 riser cable without any luck, so I turn to the experts here to see if anyone else knows where I can acquire a similar riser card with a larger length to the cable.

Stock lian li riser cable (200 cm) for reference

I think I need one that is identical but about 250-300 cm in length.

Thanks in advance :)

Edit: there may also be an issue with the m2 card mounted not having enough clearance to close the side panel. All-in-all future travelers should tread carefully with this board in the Q58.

One card will always mine using half the amount of watts, if only 1 card is plugged into rig it will mine at half watts. Tested all GPUs on other rig and they all work fine. Reinstalled kryptex twice now, new EVGA 1600watt psu, tested all wires and risers.

Anyone have a 4.0 riser cable go bad or heard of it? Been having some games crash on launch over and over. But sound would keep playing. Moved the card out to test. All is fine and they play, soon as move the card video would cut out. Now I can't get any signal, I think it's the riser?
