A list of puns related to "Relentless Mutation"
Hey all,
Over the past 3 months I've been writing what's in the title, and some of you would've seen the write ups for Relentless Mutation and/or The Lucid Collective. The final piece on Bleed the Future went up today so if, like me, you like nerding out to this kind of stuff here are the links below. Would love to hear any other thoughts or interpretations and feel free to AMA as well.

Have you guys seen this massive blog post that goes through Relentless Mutation song by song and analyzes and explains the lyrics.
Apparently theyβll soon be doing Bleed the Future, I canβt wait!!
I'm a novice guitarist and wanted to learn something that I'll actually want to play.
After listening to Archspire - Relentless Mutation on repeat for quite some and digesting the lyrics and themes it's quite clear that it is a concept record and ties in with the Lucid Collective as well.
However I cannot piece together a coherent storyline unfortunately and was wondering if you guys could give me insight.
Some reoccurring ideas
A child made out of teeth (?) I'm very stumped on this one. Mentioned in Scream Feeding as well as Human Murmuration, Calamus Will Animate, and A Dark Horizontal.
Black sludge that can shapeshift, possibly a demon (again ?) and comes from the child's bones. This fluid can apparently raise the dead and mutate your mind and allow for extreme "mental lucre" as the track Relentless Mutation states.
The presence of a cult or deity known as A.U.M. that the band has mentioned is a reference to the Japanese cultist Aum.
The album has been out for quite a while now and it's an absolute joy to listen to so I feel having a deeper understanding of the themes would elevate the album even more in my eyes.
Edit: some more callbacks, particularly on A Dark Hotizontal.
"Exhuming infinity to find a hand" referencing Fathom Infinite Depth.
"Where the king came back, Through spontaneous regeneration" almost name dropping Spontaneous Generation.
I'm not usually into tech death but the artistry is insaaaaaaane. Not just instrumental virtuosity but there are coherent well written songs here, not a bunch of aimless noodling.
Hi everyone!
I hope this kind of post is allowed here. I'm doing a little project where I go to different subreddits of music genres and I ask the members what the best album of that genre is. After this, I listen to the album that got the most upvotes after 24 hours and write my thoughts about it (I will write this as a comment under this one, so if you want to read it, make sure to check back in 2-3 days. This won't be a professional review btw. I don't know anything about music theory so it's just gonna be the thoughts of a random guy). The list I'm following is Wikipedia's list of the most popular music genres in a randomized order. I'm planning to listen to one album per day and this time the genre is Technical Death Metal. So please recommend me an album in the comments. It could be the best one in your opinion, your personal favourite, or the album that best represents this genre according to you, but please, only submit one album. If you submit more than one in your comment, it won't count (If you really want to submit more, do it in separate comments). LPs are preferred, but EPs and mixtapes are also acceptable, even compilations and live albums if they're not too long. I am a metal head but I actually don't know too much about this subgenre, so I'm going in mostly blind.
This is the 255th day of me doing this. If you want to see what the previous days were, check out my post history.
Thanks to anyone who recommends an album.
TL;DR: I listen to a new genre every day, so recommend me one album and I'll listen to the most upvoted one and write my thoughts about it later.
#What Is This?
Almost 10 years ago a user organized a vote of everyone's favorite albums which the mods have been using in welcome packages for new people. We wanted to update the list with music from the last ten years as well as a wider pool of participants. In total, 273 Users submitted a list of 50 albums with no more than two albums per band,. The users voted in total for 3361 albums from 1970 - 2021.
A list of everyone's favorite albums isnt a definitive list of essential and important heavy metal rather the collection of albums people enjoy. Imagine if you asked a room full of people their favorite records. This is what it is. What all lists can be are tools for people to discover new metal. No one cares what #1 is versus #317 rather this is a collected list of what 273 people found to be their favorite metal record when asked. If it is helpful or enlighten to you, then it is successful. If you find one record off of this to listen to then this list did its job.
