A list of puns related to "Rake (Australian TV series)"
Edit: I have watched most of the popular American drama & thrillers already. But if there are some new or not very popular ones, will really be thankful the suggestions.
In season one, episode 3, the main character defends a chef who is charged with bigotry because he was secretly married to two women. The main character has some good species on the benefits of polyamory against the criticisms from monogamists. Good episode to watch in favor of polyamory!
EDIT: Also, the last episode of season 1 features a swingers party involved with a murder.
wondering if anyone else sees the connection. he's a complete womanizer who uses people around him and he's got a fighting spirit for the underdog
This show is so damn entertaining! I just recently got into it, and have been binging the first few seasons. Interesting storylines, smart character development, very intelligent dialogue.
Any fans have recommendations of similar shows?
Soo, I saw Please Like Me and I loved it. Think I really just fell in love with Josh Thomas. Decided to check out more stuff that heβs been in and realized I could only find one more show, βEverythingβs Gonna Be Okayβ. Also really love it. Do Australians love him as much as I do orrrr is this just a me thing lol. I also checked out other Australian shows and I love them too. So itβs not just Josh Thomas. Can you make other recommendations for Australian movies and shows I can check out?
SBS has recently launched an original drama series on SBS On Demand Iggy and Ace -focusing on two gay best friends struggling with alcoholism and the series features a non-binary character.
It's a great show and the characters feel VERY true to life, but be warned: the show doesn't pull any punches regarding alcoholism, the heavy use of alcohol and drugs in LGBT community, etc.
Looking to watch some Australian made TV shows. I've watched a lot lately and looking for more. Preferably free to air but I have Netflix, Disney + and Amazon Prime
Shows I've watched lately and recommend:
-Love Me
-5 Bedrooms
-Rose Haven
-Wakefield
-Kath and Kim (watched like 100 times)
-Mystery Road
-Love on the Spectrum
-Upper Middle Bogan
-What Does Australia Really Think About
Also if anyone can tell me where to watch 5 Bedrooms s2-3 for free, it'd be much appreciated
Briefest of brief descriptions:
Rake is a show about a brilliant, sardonic and cynical lawyer and his misadventures in his personal and professional lives. Equally lovable and despicable Antihero protagonist Cleaver Greene is probably the most watchable, intriguing and entertaining character on TV in the last few years.
The show follows his chaotic life, and that of his friends and family, as he defends the lowest and weirdest criminal cases in Sydney, while provoking politicians, the media, gangsters, and judges.
If you're into gritty law/crime shows, character-driven dramas like Breaking Bad, or witty dark/dry comedies like Black Books or The Thick of It.
It's affecting without being pretentious, it's down to earth without being dull for a second, and it's outrageously hilarious without ever detracting from the plot, believability, darkness or drama.
After this spiel I hope you at least watch the first few episodes. Make sure you watch the Australian version and not the flop US remake which is pretty bad. Also I need more people to talk about the show with because there isn't even a subreddit for it
Not sure if this is allowed as it may not be that known or considered "known lost media so I hope it doesn't break any rules".
One of my biggest regrets in recent years was around 7 years ago not buying a DVDr copy of what appeared to be series 2 of a TV series called Out There from an Op Shop/Thrift store for $15. I think I didn't have the money at the time or something. Thing is I hadn't seen it since it had aired and googling has come up with no links to any episodes for me in Australia.
My questions are to those that know of the show or can check.
Here's a link to some footage of the show below. Part of me thinks I could just be region restricted from it but maybe it could at this moment be considered lost media.

Combine 2 Australian films or TV series to make something awesome, fucked up or weird. Examples below.
Other dramatic shows I've enjoyed include The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black, The Protectors (Danish), The Accused (UK), Party Animals (UK). Always looking for TV that inspires.
Redditors - we have just had a fantastic 8 series TV program here in Australia on our ABC (Similar to US NPR) called "Rake". It is about a lawyer in Sydney, but sort of a legal version of House only much better. Fantastic cast as well, some of them well known internationally.
If you are in Australia you can get it on Iview, you will probably have to bit torrent it to see it elsewhere.
