I started playing it back 2018 and stopped 2020. I loved the gameplay but I didn't like how you had to unlock cosmetics. So I ask you folks. Is it worth playing and can you get some good looking cosmetics without heavy grinding and not having to spend my life savings to get new pants for my daddy Visor.

Lots of things to look forward to this year for Quake like Bi-Monthly TastyCups from TastySpleen. The first TastyCup will be tomorrow Saturday January 22nd starting with the NA region at 17:00 EAST | 23:00 CET. EU will be the following day Sunday the 23rd at 20:00 CET | 14:00 EAST. This is only the beginning as TastySpleen will be hosting Organ Grinder during the other months. So, January Quake TastyCup, and February will be Organ Grinder. Alternating every month for the rest of 202V2. No information has been given yet for the first Organ Grinder for 202V2, but that information should be on the way shortly. Hey, I'm not very happy with my PC's performance with Quake Champions as the FPS is not stable and can drop below 150 or even 100 at times which is quite noticeable (using in-game FPS counter). I ran HWiNFO while playing 2 games with the following result:

Here are my userbenchmark results:
Played a few games earlier, all is fine, then switched to Valorant with the lads, then Rocket League, turned my PC off for a few and I've returned and Quake C won't load. It crashes on the epilepsy screen (just freezes up, few weird beeps in my headset and then crashes to desktop). And then, weirdly, my mouse cursor just moves upwards on its own on my desktop for about 5 seconds like it's haunted or some shit.
I'm aware some anti-cheat or optimisation engines (RivaTuner or whatever it's called, etc.) will cause at least the crash part of my weird issue, but I'm 99% sure I don't have them installed. I've gone through all the usual restart, update drivers blah blah steps and no luck, haven't bothered reinstalling it yet because that'll take about 3 hours but I guess I'll try it if nobody has any better ideas. Any guesses?

16 GB ram, and I have the game installed on an SSD.
Don't be fooled! They are trying to pull the Shambler fur over our eyes! ID Software is falling down the path of the heretic and steal what is rightfully ours! Champions and all Quake games prior to one...when Quake 2 was released it was only called "Quake" because they could not think of another name. If it is Quake, were are the tentacle gods? The cathedrals and castles? The runes? The horror? The soundtrack? WHERE ARE THE GODDAM SHAMBLERS?!

So basically what the title says.
Im an "old" Quake fam, who tried to play QC back in the days with a potatoe PC, since it didn't worked back then i completely forget about it, now with the update to the OG Quake on Steam I really miss to join a Quake Game like I did on Quake Online (Browser), I know that the game Isn't the same, since there are "Heroes" and skills and so, but stills feels like Quake to me.
The thing is: The game is 5 years old, at this point the community and online matches for almost every online game is dead or hard to find games and those things, so... Am I late to join the game?

Why every arena shooter is taking the same route...
✅ Focusing on long term, while still having game breaking bugs like out of bounds
✅ Missing or broke daily progession, which makes players sick of doing it
✅ Not spending budget (while having it) on marketing (like LoL, Apex Legends or Valorant) to keep up the hype and prolongate the prime time, especially when title is covered by other premiers
✅ Focusing on visual progression and mtx, like it is Sea of Thieves
✅ Creative team focused on producing more and more mtx, what creates fake feeling of "we're producing content!". Skins without any marketing background, without any hype - are just empty shells, couple of polygons glued together without any value
✅ Not making ranked game mode default, while focusing on high skill ceiling
✅ Creating e-sport league when playerbase is still not ready for it
✅ Throwing money at tournaments with hardly any viewership, tournaments won by no-names
□ 4 years of game developed this way
□ Having masterpiece first person shooter and having 100 players peak on weekends, because of discord organized play sessions

Hey! Im an old Quake III player and I've wanted to get back into fragging. On steamcharts it says that Quake Champions, the newest game from the series scores from 300 to 700 daily players. I've played Unreal Tournament on Epic Games a long time ago, the one from 2014. Anyone knows which game has a chance in the future? Is Unreal still raw as it was a couple years ago?

It works best once you create random account at The QUAKE PUB. Once Loggedin, you are able to click off all challanges you completed and then run website at your cellphone to ALWAYS know, what you are missing in each game mode.
You can filter challanges to those that are free to play or battle pass bounded.

Well, i just need to talk to someone, cuz almost no one of my friends, communities plays something like Quake or Halo, so, I don't pretty much have anyone to talk to. And cuz I am from Russia, almost no one will understand me there, cuz in my country Quake and Halo are... Well. Generally hated games. Halo especially. Sorry for bad English, if there is one, had little practice for a couple of years.
I love Quake ever since i was a child. We had great time playing it in Lan parties, i had great time first trying it Online in like 2007-2008, i just wish i played it more, but, yeah, that's my problem, the realisation of that no one of my friends will ever share my love for Quake and UT franchises and, well, having not so much time for trying lots of games, just stops me from playing it, but, hell, until i see Halo Infinite, i drop fucking CoD, and will spend lots of evenings in Q3 and QC.
So, the thing is: I am just furiously enraged with modern online FPS gaming community. I am a person who addicted to online FPS games, and I can't imagine my post-work evening without a couple of matches in some online FPS before bedtime. I am not enraged about the toxicity, that's not the point, toxicity is everywhere. I am upset by modern gamers' preferences and their thoughts about that. This generally goes to CoD, Battlefield or Battle Royale fans.
The thing is that the majority of modern FPS gamers are literally brainfarted. I can't even play with some people in squads cuz most of my friends, playing online games, play it only in the way, that streamers tell them so. This goes from CoD. Well, yeah, I play a lot of CoD. I play Multiplayer by myself, and Warzone with friends. But when i play with them, i literally want to just delete myself. My gaming experience is ruined by them just constantly yelling things like "Dude, why do u use this gun? Recrent told that this one is better" (i.e. Recrent is the biggest Russian Warzone streamer). They don't use their own brain. Well, went a lot far away, let's get back to Quake.
Asked a lot of friends tonight to come and hang out a couple of hours in QC or Q3. Literally everyone said no. But do u know what's the most upsetting thing? Most of them (as well as a lot of Russians) said thing like "Jeez, why do u even want to play this prehistoric dumb brainless game where u just run and shoot? There is no tactics, there is nothing smart and brain-using in this game. U just run and shoot and die" And lots of Russian gamers are f*ck

I've asked this on Steam, but I think I can easily get opinions here. I like Quake 3 Arena/Team Arena very much. Great and fun gameplay, with a lot of player skins and maps to download. Also, Generations Arena. I want to know what you guys think.
Before we get started I just wanted to say Happy 25th Birthday to the QUAKE franchise. Few series last an entire generation, but id software with the help of a few other studios over the years have found a way to make QUAKE live forever. I have seen more positivity in the community this year, and I hope Bethesda/id/Microsoft can ride on this positivity with a nice Quakecon this year.
If you are new Quake Champions tends to get 4 major content updates a year. This summer 2021 update is no different. This season is a blast from the past focused on the original 1996 QUAKE release. The classic DM6 THE DARK ZONE will be the newest map to Quake Champions.
