A list of puns related to "Pumas (Currie Cup)"
How about some Cheetahs Pro14 pre-season (Currie Cup) against Bulls while we wait for kickoff here:

This might be useful for those of you who don't have access to live Currie Cup broadcasts.

Matches of Saturday Jan 15:
I see a lot of fans and pundits in SA being upset about the Currie Cup being downgraded to a developmental competition and becoming irrelevant (In terms of viewership). I got excited this year to watch this CC because I was expecting exciting talent shining almost like the standard of Varsity cup.
I sat down and watched all 6 games and man it was terrible. Yes the Bulls played a good game against WP but besides that it is awful to watch for me. Terrible decision making, awful execution at set-pieces and incoherent attack makes me turn games off.
Honestly you are not going to revive the local competition doing this. Up the standards and you will keep more eyes on the games.
Setting aside poor standards there is also this delusion among pundits that CC can reach the glory days of Springbok filled Cheetahs v Bulls games. It's long gone so stop advertising the competition as such.
Wouldn't it be nice to have drafts of the best schoolboy and Varsity talent, play some of the games in local stadiums and universities to bring a party atmosphere to the games, add some exciting rules like Varsity cup does. This competition may be the oldest in the world (I could stand corrected) but we shouldn't hold on to the old days. Rebrand it and make it fun.
That be my rant π
Does anyone know if the currie cup season will be available for streaming in the USA other than vpn with dstv?

Not entirely related to the Springboks but Georgia is reportedly planning to send a team to compete in the 2022 Currie Cup. Not sure how you guys will feel it'll probably attract both praise and criticism. Personally think this is a great way to elevate Georgian rugby and test our local teams against an international side. A good Georgian team will make international rugby more competitive and hopefully less predictable. My only concern is that the Currie Cup might overlap with the start of the TOP14 where many Georgian players are based at...
Georgian physicality really tested the Springboks during the one-off match in 2021.
Lol Province suck it's 17-0 after 8 minutes
With all the talk about SA rugby leaving super rugby going on at the moment it and the generally uncertainty of rugby world wide - it has been difficult to not wonder the future of club rugby in South Africa. Much of the media talks about an expanded PRO14, a move to Europe or the need to stay in the south to play the old rivals in NZ we hold to such high standards.
One idea has stuck out to me in the media though and that is the restoration of the Currie Cup as SA flagship domestic comp. An 8 team competition with the 4 super rugby teams, 2 PRO 14 teams and the Pumas and Griquas. As a South Africans though it's commonly understand the economic health of our game sits with an international comp to draw in money. So my thoughts have been along the lines of a restored Currie Cup possibly becoming another feeder league to the Heineken Cup or a new similar type of Comp in the south.
Im curious to hear what you all think of this all and if people would be interested to watch a scenario like that and whether it would even be economically viable for South Africa. Basically curious on people's opinions on what SARUs next move should be in these uncertain times.
Go Sharkies!!!!
Just putting this up for the heck of it.
Come on Sharkies.
