A list of puns related to "Produce 101 China"
I'm not at all familiar with Chinese celebrities except for a few names. Even less familiar with Chinese musicians. I was wondering if I should bother with Produce 101 China/Produce Camp or should I just skip it and go watch Youth with You? I want to see it for Lisa.
Thanks for reading.
So I really enjoy watching Chinese music reality shows but I never end up keeping up or standing the final groups are are formed by these shows but I was just wondering how successful are they after they win the show? For ex, the korean counterparts of winners of the shows like wannaone, ioi etc became extremely popular after they won the show and became a group in korea. so how popular are the rockets girls and r1se in china?
hello, not sure if its related to this reddit but can anyone explain to me the different produce 101-ish shows in china? seems like there's more than one shows thats similar to it? there's the produce 101 and its subsequent seasons, then there's produce camp? and now youth with you? i'm so confused haha
Warning: this is quite long.
So out of sheer boredom, I decided to rewatch Produce 101 Season 2 yesterday and my god, I'm not sure if it's because I'm older now and more critical but I guess I misremembered how absolutely awful the show is. For context, I watched the first couple episodes of the original season of Produce 101 back when it aired, and later when season two came out, I watched the first couple episodes of that too. I definitely got a bit sick of it early on, and never ended up finishing through to the end, and I guess there were reasons for that that I never fully realized until now.
I think my biggest gripe is the fact that it's extremely manipulative. I'm sure everyone and their mother knows about the vote manipulation scandal and the fact that Mnet definitely showers screentime on whoever they favor at a given moment, but what really upset me is the fact that they literally profited off the trauma of the trainees, using their sob stories to compel people to continue watching the show and encouraging emotional investment, while fucking them over behind the scenes. Like. There was so much blatant propaganda about the show being an opportunity for new beginnings (Nu'est comes to mind) or increasing exposure for trainees who under other circumstances would probably be unable to escape obscurity โ especially those from smaller companies โ when they were definitely not even in the running to begin with.
The actual training these trainees got was also just, not it, in my opinion. Obviously I'm not an expert, but the vocal training in particular was baffling. Firstly, hiring a vocal trainer whose claim to fame is training JYP and YG trainees is NOT promising at all, considering JYP and YG are infamous for not teaching proper vocal technique and ruining their idols' voices in the long run by insisting on whatever sounds the most unique. Watching the two vocal trainers attempt to guide these trainees vs watching the SM trainer from Unnie's Slam Dunk was like night and day, seriously. I'm aware that teaching a bunch of trainees at once is obviously going to be far more difficult than focusing on one at a time, but telling them to continue straining their voices in order to reach a certain key without providing any proper support and guidance has got to be plain idiotic.
Which leads me to this: why bother setting their trademark song in a key that more than half the trainees would not be able to reach, except to make things needlessly hard

We have new show from Mnet (Girls Planet 999) so you can notice thatโs strange Mnetโs (devil) advocate who say that every reality show is rigged and thatโs everyone knew that produce 101 was rigged because of screentime discrepancies.Like nah.
What everyone knew was that produce 101 is completely not fair show. Because it has a lot of contestants (around 100) so obviously at least 1/3 of them have almost 0 screentime and because of that they donโt have much chance to pass first voting round. Another thing which was completely unfair was that performances in 1st and 2st rounds were shown in 2 episodes so teams which were shown last had obvious disadvantage (because voting was closed just after broadcasting episode). Such thing like pdโs favourites, evil editing, screentime discrepancies played significant role in popularity of contestants but this is reality of every reality show. Editing is always subjective because is done by human being, you canโt really avoid such thing like favoritism. Every show needs characters and storyline because otherwise it would be unwatchable. It is common sense and both viewers and contestants are aware of that.
And thatโs also a reason why most producers donโt decide to give viewers much influence on the show. Because they want to control well storyline which they created (without problem with law). Most reality shows have judges and eventually give choice to viewers in later parts and still often it is limited (judges or other contestants just choose candidats of dropping out). Also they inform viewers that show can be manipulated in closing credits (โShow is partially scriptedโ or โproducers can change decision of judgesโ). And of course contestants sign very long ass contract in which they are also informed about it.
Meanwhile Mnet created show in which only decision maker are viewers. This way they advertised the show โNo judges, 100% based on viewers votingโ. Especially in first season there were a lot of references to national voting. They highlighted that the winning contestants donโt have to be the most talented (thatโs why judges are not needed) but the most beloved by national producers. And this was big reason why show become such cultural phenomenon and lucrative business.
So rigging votes is against concept of show and of course obvious fraud. Both viewers and contestants were cheated. Iโm sure that most contestants were aware that some companies had deals with mnet and thatโs why their trainiees had better
... keep reading on reddit โกFirst and foremost, Produce 101 as a whole was ethically in the wrong and the people responsible should be held accountable for deceiving contestants and voters. They ruined careers of many trainees and eroded the public trust in entertainment agencies.
That being said, I was very happy with the final lineups for IOI, IZ*ONE and X1. Obviously we'll never know what the 'actual' final lineups should have been, but from the perspective of trying to make the best possible group, they made the best objective decisions at the time.
The crux of my opinion is that the public does not necessarily know who or what is going to work best on the stage. We vote with our hearts and our opinions are going to understandably have flaws. We're susceptible to sob stories and underdogs and quick to anger against perceived injustices. We are mostly laypeople who hold amateur, unreasonable opinions and don't have the depth to understand what someone needs to be an idol.
On the other hand, the producers and entertainment companies involved have experience in this industry. They know what lands and what doesn't, they aren't afraid to say no to things that don't work, and the stakes of their work require them to be mostly objective when judging talent and potential. And most of the time they know what we want better than ourselves. Of course sometimes they will make mistakes or will miss things that the GP sees, but overall they have a good handle on who makes and good idol and who doesn't.
Specific points:
In this post I'm gonna focus on I-Land since I wasn't into Kpop when the produce series aired.
I'm a huge fan of talent competitions, particularly singing competitions because I really think it showcases talents we would not know of if it weren't for the audition process the contestants have to go through, but, it being a reality (particularly I-Land) where the participants have to go against each other and you have to vote for one or another isn't the optimal way to create a united fandom, in the case of Enhypen I think the main problem with Engenes is that many of them come from the competition environment and it being a competition means they have a member they favor because they ranked the members according to the public's vote, so that created a lot of solo stans rather than a fandom who supports everyone in the group, it is specially complicated taking into account how many people empathized with Sunoo during I-Land because he was having a hard time due to health issues; when he was sent to the ground by the rest of the guys in the competition, it created this idea in their minds that they don't see him worthy of being in the final line up when they haven't ever said that, so his fans are very sensitive and over protective of him, later on they created this Twitter thread where they 'exposed' how 'mistreated' he is by his fellow members so new fans began believing that narrative and kept on victimizing Sunoo, thus the never ending posts about him being alienated or depressed due to his fellow members attitude.
I think this could be solved if we understood that when they're competing against each other they're put under stressful situations and disagreements are bound to happen and this doesn't mean the final line up hate each other. They're people just like us, the viewers, and they have their own ideals, fears, goals and personalities, so not everything that is shown during that competition is a real representation of the people they truly are, many situations that happened during the competition were also edited and manipulated to gain ratings by creating conflict thus, we can not fully trust the final product (with this I mean the reality); the best we can do is letting them grow and become a group and support them as a group rather than supporting them as soloists.
Idk this just crosses my mind. How much would the hosts or mentors know about the rigging?
Would they purposely give bad feedback because they know this contestant isn't chosen anyways? Ignore the contestants not included to focus on the debut line-up? Or, even worse, do the producers consult the mentors to see whom they rig in or rob? Could the mentors recommend whom to include in the linuep, given they have actually industry experience?
Or are they completely oblivious and the producers don't tell them? Because if you look at the mentor/hosts line-up of 4 PD101 series + Idol School that's some bigwigs of the industry with considerable power and influence. There's talks that the trainees knew if they'd make it in or not, according to Lee Haein. If the trainees were told, the mentors who have connections could have caught wind.
Bada, Kahi, Bae Yoonjung, JeA, BoA, Lee Seunggi, Cheetah, Stephanie, Heechul, Soyou and many more... could they have known anything? Done anything? Or were they totally oblivious?
Well since this show was ended about 3 weeks ago, it will be nice if we remember most memorable scene in this show { could be pr,audition, performances, behind the scene or episodes}...i just start watching the whole season and i love all episode, when this show was aired i only managed to watch performance only and this is few of my memorable pdjp2 moment :
yeah this is only i can think right now but im pretty sure there were a lot more iconic moment in this show...how about y'all thought for this season? ...
So crazy thing, we're reaching 5 years since IOI debuted (in 2 days!), so let's get an update on our girls who participated on the first season of the show. This will be an updated version of the original post I made two years ago.
Anything not officially confirmed via a label/contestant is either speculation or rumor and will be marked with an "*" to note that.
Names is bold means they were members of the winning group, in this case - IOI!
If y'all see an update about a contestant or something I missed/have incorrect, please feel free to let me know and I'll update the OP!

I donโt enjoy survival shows so Iโve never watched Produce101 and idk much about how the show works but Iโve seen how popular and successful groups formed on the show become. In your opinion do you think these groups would remain as successful if they didnโt have to disband?
So if the show continued to debut a new group with every season, do you think those groups would continue to do well long term or does some of the success come from the fact that itโs a temporary group so people want to โstan while they canโ?

I see WeTV logo on the poster. WeTV is a video streaming service by Tencent operated in Thailand. I thought Produce 101 China had changed its title and Produce Camp Season 1 was Produce 101 Season 2. Produce Camp was not licensed by Mnet. I wonder if this one is.
I believe Thailand is not the only oversea audition leg albeit I've found no info on other oversea legs.
Please notify me if there is a better subreddit to discuss on this topic and if I can move this thread accordingly.
Too many visuals this season. Many are objectively handsome by their faces alone.
