In $ROOT we trust! ROOT has no reason to apologize,it wants fair prices, without discrimination for Americans. This is the progress in insurance, be a good driver, drive carefully and you will have the lowest rates in the insurance market! With Root you save money, damage and sometimes lives. Be ROOT!
After the recent partnership with $Carvana, which became the majority investor in Root, many roads and opportunities will open up for Root. Next up will be Hertz, which will sell its fleet through Carvana with personalized Root insurance for Carvana. $Hertz has a new partnership with Tesla to buy 100,000 electric cars. For electric cars Root has the best product studied for years ... We hope that the next will be the partnership ROOT - $TESLA!
I think Elon will understand how important a partnership with Root can be for Tesla, because Root already has approvals in almost 40 states, and in 2022 will be present throughout the USA. For Elon it would mean a savings of 3-4 years and it would mean a partnership with the first profesional company in the field of tech insurance!
I was thinking on doing work for a project related to lobster prices in Maine, where price varies based on where you buy it (for example, smaller towns or going to a more local source equals a lower price, but for more touristy parts the price is higher), but I wasnโt sure if that is a good example because from what I read price discrimination relates to goods from the same producer, for the same product. Is that the case? Or is it like, for the same good, but it can be from different producers or sellers (like lobster is all Maine lobster in Maine, but different restaurants sell at different prices). I was just confused and didnโt want to mess it up, so any help would be appreciated!
Have you checked for bandwidth throttling yet? See our previous post if you havenโt had the chance to. We'll be keeping things a little less technical this time in talking about price discrimination and how a VPN subscription can actually save you money.
What is price discrimination?
Price discrimination is a selling strategy which includes pricing the same product differently based on various factors concerning the market or the customer. There are three different levels of price discrimination which weโll cover with examples.
First-degree price discrimination
Also known as perfect price discrimination, this strategy is about charging the maximum possible price. In most cases, the seller will be one of the few or the only one offering the product. Therefore, scarcity defines this pricing strategy.
Example: imagine youโre coming back from a holiday and miss your flight. You desperately need to get home and the airline has complete control over whether you can. When looking up tickets online, they'll increase prices for those who show greater interest in their flights. The more time you spend on their website, the more theyโll charge you.
How does a VPN help? Activate the VPN before accessing the airline's website to prevent them from tracking you. Be sure to clear your cookies and to not have an active account with them. If the airline believes you are a different person โ one who isnโt that interested in the flight โ you'll confuse them into thinking this is your first visit. This way you can land a way better deal on your flight.
Second-degree price discrimination
Otherwise known as indirect price discrimination, this method has little to do with the customer as a person. Instead, all people who buy less will pay more, and vice versa, encouraging you to buy in bulk.
Example: many stores offer discounts on bulk orders which is quite common practice. At the end of the day, it could be argued that both sides will benefit. But sometimes personalized pricing can work against you. Sellers can take away discounts if they recognize youโve already made use of their retail incentives. A great example of this are one-time seasonal discounts. If you use this kind of offer once, you won't see it again as long as the retailer can track you.
How does a VPN help? It's possible to use it to tri

>The important potential disadvantage is the possibility of adverse selection. Customers who are higher risk for reasons known to them but not fully recognised in the insurerโs risk rating may expect to face higher prices or have more difficulty in obtaining insurance elsewhere, and so be less responsive to non-risk price increases.
I know what adverse selection is but I don't quite understand the logic in the bold part. If customers have private knowledge about their risks which is not fully recognised in the insurer's risk rating, then how can they face higher prices or have difficulty in obtaining insurance elsewhere? If the premium they pay is supposed to be proportional to their risk, and the risk is underestimated by the insurer surely they would be expected to pay less?
I thought maybe the point is that the insurer knows the distribution of risk but can't identify high risk customers specifically. But in that case it wouldn't make sense for just high risk customers to face higher prices, but it would affect everyone.
Am I missing something obvious here?
Hi, recently in school I learnt about price discrimination in movie tickets e.g adult $25, children $19, senior $15. Just wondering why has no competitor in the market undercut the "higher price" - adult ticket price? Thanks!
These are the requirements Price :under 20,000 Inr Ram :6 or above Storage: above 64 (prefer 128gb) Brand : i will prefer Samsung or mi (by mi i meant redmi ,realme or any others like that) Country india
Is it legal to give discounts to everyone with a certain name?
For instance, if I own Pete's Ice Cream shop and want to give everyone named Peter/Pete 10% off. Is this be illegal? Is this price discrimination?
EDIT: in america
To isolate scope, this CMV is ONLY for medicine / prescriptions taken orally in the USA. It is not for medicine / treatment which might require a health care professional, like an injection. I do believe general principles would apply to all medicine, but I want to keep this CMV simple. I believe that free market is the only way to fix medicine costs. By free market, I mean
No price discrimination. Every payer must be charged the same price. No backroom deals. Whether it's the insurance company paying or the person paying out of pocket, with reasonable delivery / volume adjustments. Application charges (injection by nurse / cold storage) should be a separate price. All forms of pricing, volume, dosage, to retail and distributors should be publicly posted. "Should" as in enforced by law.
By price, I mean the price paid by the real purchaser to the manufacturer. If Medicare pays $3000 to the pharma but only charges the individual a $10 copay, the price is $3000, not $10.
Insurance company A should not be reimbursing a different price than Insurance company B to the pharma. Mainly, I'm referring to laws preventing Medicare from negotiating drug prices, resulting in a much higher cost paid by taxpayers.
Enforcement of intellectual property / patents, with reasonable expirations. No more arbitrary extensions of patents, onerous and staggered process patents preventing competition from entering when once the patent on the original medication expires.
-https://www.ncpssm.org/documents/medicare-policy-papers/meeting-demand-for-lower-drug-prices-in-medicare/ This is an example of what I'm referring to. Within our own government, Medicare and Veteran Affairs are paying different prices for the same drug. It's insane that there's actually a law in place promoting price discrimination against Medicare.
I believe price discrimination is the primary reason for high medicine costs. However, these are things I support.
I support enforcement of patents to allow drug companies to initially charge high prices.
I support companies charging more than enough to cover their R&D.
I support astronomical profits of a few winning drugs to cover aggregated losses of the industry as a whole.
I support a drug manufacturer's a
Redlining is illegal in the United States, but price discrimination is pretty common.
Is redlining basically price discrimination based on protected characteristics like race and gender?
Also, doesn't price discrimination by zip code, which is probably legal, proxy for protected characteristics?
How do they deal with that so as to prevent price discrimination based on protected characteristics through zip code?

My community This was a few years ago when I was in highschool. Was pretty nerdy and loved building PCs and buying new hardware, so I usually sold my PCs and Laptops after ~2 years of use so that I could buy a new one. There was a sale event in my community where people would go and offer their used stuff. You usually don't get much, but it was always worth demanding a high price at first and then go down during the day, because often someone would buy it anyways, and most people knew to come back later if they wanted low prices. I took my PC there, it was roughly 1.5 years old and in almost perfect condition, original price was around 2.5k. EM and EK walk up to me.
EM: Entitled mom
EK: entitled kid
F: friend (absolute madman)
M: me
EK: Mom, that one looks cool. *turns to me* What are the specs?
M: Specs are on there *point to overview sheet I placed on the PC*
EK: *reads* How much for the additional SSD?
M: 40$ (actually CHF, but course is always somewhere around 1-1.1 CHF:USD)
EK: I want this, buy me, mom!
EM: How much is the PC?
M: 1000$ plus the 40$ for the SSD.
EM: Wow, that's way too much. What's included?
M: What do you mean included, the specs are right on there *point to sheet again*
EM: what's on it??
M: Well, I obviously reset the PC, so the only thing on there is windows.
EM: I'll take it for 700$, SSD included.
M: Haha, no way miss, the PC runs perfectly well.
EM: Well, then WHY are you even selling it *fucking arrogant smug look*
M: *fake smile* Well, because the new one is already running, and unfortunately I don't have four arms and eyes to play on both of them at the same time.
EM: THEN WHY ARE YOU CHARGING SUCH A HIGH PRICE IF YOU DON'T EVEN NEED THE MONEY?!
M: Because I like money?
EM: You're just a greedy, spoiled brat, I bet your parents paid for the PC and now you try to make money out of it.
Side note: I love watching conflict, always did. Used to watch and laugh my ass off when my cousins would start fighing each other when wehenever we visited. Hardly anything out there that gets me as euphoric as when someone starts screaming his lungs out in anger or when some activists start attacking each other. (I know I'm an asshole, no need to remind me).
M: *evil.config loaded*
M: Yes, they did, so what? (They didn't)
EM: *looks at me like a fucking retard*
EM: ...
EM: WELL, YOU ARE NOT GONNA GET ANYTHING SOLD LIKE THAT!
M: and?
EM: I'm gonna tell your parents what a greedy ass y
