Heyyyy... so I’m feeling pretty annoyed. This might get long as I feel I have a lot to vent about and I’m feeling totally misunderstood by my fiancée.
We got engaged in May 2020 with the idea that we would be engaged for a few years and then have a wedding and another child. We own a home together and have a child already. Probably my own fault but I got myself excited about wedding planning and I started to collect things as they went on sale and started discussing wedding colors and ideas with my fiancée. I eventually asked if he thought October 2021 was a good time for a wedding and explained I wanted another child before I turned 30 and thought it would be good timing for us. He agreed to this even though wedding planning for him has been mostly an annoyance and he wanted to wait longer and not think about a wedding.
I started looking at dresses and found one on sale and told him I might buy it while it’s at a good price. He was excited and said that was great.
I found save the dates and mentioned to him, once I order these there’s no going back.... october is still good? He said if he was being honest he really wanted to wait longer... With COVID uncertainty making me nervous during wedding planning as well, pushing the wedding back didn’t seem like such a bad idea. I was hurt, though. I was really excited about all of this and it all kind of came crashing down. I felt stupid about buying a dress and talking to family members about the wedding date.
Now, he won’t let me choose a new date. He said I’m rushing him into everything and my bad attitude about pushing the date back is making him miserable. I feel embarrassed and stupid. I have a dress and decorations and was planning a wedding with someone who isn’t even excited to marry me (that’s just how I feel. He assures me he is excited to marry me but doesn’t like the pomp&circumstance associated with weddings).
I agreed to have our wedding in his moms back yard to save money, I’ve pinched pennies as much as possible. I’m planning everything as to not “stress him out”. He just has to show up. I just want to have that special day and he says I’m acting like a spoiled brat and he just wants a courthouse wedding with a cookout etc etc. I’m just sick about it. It’s been embarrassing for me. Family members have been excited for us and talking about it and it’s so embarrassing and hurtful to me every time a family member asks about the wedding and I have to say, “no new date yet we are st
