In the Portsmouth Guildhall, if I buy a seated ticket for a gig how easy would it be to then actually go to the standing area instead? Would there be security there to stop me or anything like that?
I would much prefer a standing ticket but unfortunately there are none left :(
Just wandering if anyone else is going, want to meet up? What kind of time are you planning to queue up? Pumped for my first tΓΈp show!!
I'm not sure if this is appropriate to post in this sub, but I really need help with this and have run my resources dry.
I have to put on a gig as part of my university course and desperately need bands to play for it. The venue is the Harlequin Room in Portsmouth Guildhall with a capacity of around 200. ANY help would be amazing.
I already have two bands lined up ready to go, but would preferably like a bigger headliner that could really bring out a crowd. Unfortunately it will probably not be a paid gig, as I don't have the funding, but payment for transport can be arranged if need be!
ANY help with this would be really appreciated, or a better direction of what sub to post this in.
Thanks for reading :)
[INITIAL POST 2021/10/17]
A situation has arisen that is causing great joy to gender critical activists. In the past few days there was a protest against a GC conference in the UK and the gender criticals are retweeting this image: https://twitter.com/with_rhymes/status/1449346244405497859 and https://twitter.com/thhamilton/status/1449452674886295552. As you can imagine they are making hay with it. One of the organizers said this about the image:
" *...*There were five different pro trans groups at the protest...I worked hard to ensure the event was peaceful and respectful. Sadly...a small outside group arrived...None of the official stakeholders was aware of what was going on... I spoke to the Police Liaison officers this morning who confirmed the above and told me that they were entirely happy with everything the official stakeholders did and said.
We are unsure if the infiltration group were GC out to cause trouble or trans extremists. Obviously,, this incident, is very upsetting, (actually I was in tears over it)..." [source]
As a result of this image and those people, the gender critical activists are pressuring Amnesty International to disavow the demonstration. This needs fixing and fast. Please tweet the following:
[UPDATE 2021/10/18]
The second picture was taken on the corner where King Henry I Street becomes Guildhall Walk: see here. The first picture appears to be on the steps of Portsmouth Guildhall, (see here). This is consistent with the official protest organizer who said "a small group had arrived sitting at the far end of the Guildhall steps. It would appear they were responsible for writing offensive signs using chalk that had been left around."
I think the organizer was right:

In response I have launched the "Fly the Flag" protest/celebration in the Guildhall Square from 0800 each day. Various activities planned including speeches, poetry, open mic, dancing, mind fullness and in the pub!
The event is officially supported by Amnesty International. Please support if you live local. Thanks, Steph
A grey-blue haze hung in the air, drifting from the west. Distant "Crumps" from explosions echoed across the streets. From here, on the north tower of Tower Bridge, Bradford could make out the distant silhouettes of tripods. Flashes from heat rays lit up the urban sprawl, which was already sending up smoke and ash.
His fingers tightened against the stone of the parapet: things were going badly, that much was clear.
As the monsters had stomped their way into the city proper, the populace had mostly panicked, fleeing in any direction. The streets north and westbound across the city were packed as people tried for stations, meeting other refugees trying to get into London. Riots had broken out at Kings Cross and Paddington, the latter perilously close to the line of advance. South was mostly off limits as the invaders were pushing up from the south-west.
But all was not lost. Not yet.
Turned out that some elements of London didn't like being foisted - shotguns had been broken out, rifles fished from attic chests. He'd had a report that one tripod had been driven back after a suburb unleashed a warehouse's worth of fireworks at the damn thing. It hadn't even been able to launch artillery, so bewildered and confused by the sheer amount of flashing explosives levelled its way, it had instead (according to the young man who he'd debriefed) dropped low on its legs and scuttled off. Its fellows had been unable to cover it, being themselves occupied by consistent gunfire and flaming projectiles from belligerent Londoners, shielded by heavy brick buildings.
Which in turn had raised an interesting tactical point - the heat ray burned and incinerated anything in its line of sight. But stone was less vulnerable to a sweep; glass melted, but stone held. Yes, most nearby combatants reported third or second degree burns but they lived.
Unfortunately, most of the cheap housing to the west was aflame. Observations indicated that the invaders seemed content, so far, to just force the citizenry to flee, destroying anything resembling shelter or refuge. Currently the Yeomanry regiments and a few reinforcements that had come from the south were fighting a holding battle at the edge of the city. The counter to that, however, was that whilst the tripods were few in number, they were much

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
Pilot on me!!
A local trans artist has just posted the below on his Facebook and I asked permission to share as some of you peeps might be interested in calling up the venue to share your concerns.
T/W mentions of transphobia
>Portsmouth Guildhall will be hosting an event for the Transphobic group Filia on the 16th - 17th October.
>
>Filia have openly called for conversion therapy* for those in the Trans community and openly act as gate keepers of womanhood. They are very much part of the 'Trans panic' and strongly push the idea that Trans women should not be able to access public female toilets as it is putting 'real women' and children in danger. This insidious falsehood has also caused cisgender women, who don't appear 'feminine' enough, to be inquistioned whilst entering public restrooms - this ignominy has ended in abuse and the forced removal of these cis women from these facilities.
>
>Filia are a hate group masquerading as a feminist charity and should not be able to hold events unchallenged. Their grotesque narrative deeply impacts all that fall outside of the binary notion of gender and increases the risk of discrimination, intimidation and violence towards all who self identify this way. It must also be noted that the murder rate, rape, work place bullying and familial rejection of people in this community is sickeningly high.
>
>Please call the Guildhall on 023 9387 0200 and share your concerns about this event.
Just thought I'd share, mods please let me know if anything needs to be edited or taken down
EDIT
*Awaiting source of this claim of advocating for conversion therapy but having checked out their website they are very much otherwise transphobic
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!
You take away their little brooms
