Edit - It looks like the mods finally removed the OP's little meltdown:
"You're such a little bitch. I would call you a cunt, but I assume you may take that as a compliment."
Women's football...is not quite on the same level as men. And unfortunately, some specific lawsuits and actions by certain players have sort of cast a negative light on the women's side of the sport, fair or not. While the men do play on a much higher level, that doesn't stop me from enjoying the women's game in its own way as well. As laughable as the reffing was at times during the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, it was still great to watch overall and produced some memorable moments (also, my condolences to Scottish fans).
Obviously, I could do a men's list but it would be far longer, and mind you, this post is already really, really long. The women's game still has a lot of room to grow.
Argentina: best finish: 3rd group stage (2019). Appearances: 2003, 2007, 2019. Unfortunately, Argentina's women's team has seen nowhere near the success of its men's team: it took until 2019 for them to finally not lose a WC game, drawing Japan 0-0 in their first matchup and then staging a late 3-goal comeback to draw against Scotland (more on that later...). In 2003 and 2007, the team had some legendary losses (including an 11-0 shellacking against Germany in 2007), but their performance very much improved in 2019 where their only loss was 1-0 to England. They're still waiting for their first WC win, but maybe that'll come in 2023 if they can keep improving.
Australia: best finish: quarterfinals (2007, 2011, 2015). Appearances: all but 1991. Since qualifying in 1995, the Australian women's team has been a WC fixture. After failing to get a win in their first 3 tries, they've advanced to the knockout round every year since, though they've been beaten in the first round all but 1 year. Their 2007 appearance was a true miracle as Australia pulled out an equalizer in stoppage time against Canada to beat them out for the last knockout stage spot (this came after Canada had scored 7 minutes earlier). Sadly, they'd concede a late GWG against Brazil after fighting back from 2-0 down. It was more or less the same in 2011, with a late GWG against Norway also giving them a spot in the knockout stage. Unfortunately, they'd lose to Sweden. Australia had a more comfortable path in 2015 and exacted some revenge on Brazil, beating them 1-0 on a late GWG before bowing out to Japan in heartbreaking fashion (also on a late GWG). Then in 2019, they fought hard against Norway but completely blew it in PKs to get knocked out. The Australian team has nevertheless been very fun to
