Title says it all. I truly believe the quirky, happy-go-lucky Kathy we saw on RHOBH is in large part a facade. In reality, it seems she is overbearing, controlling, and patronizing. The way she speaks to and treats Paris is gut wrenching. You can see in multiple scenes Paris has a lot of anxiety around her and it’s definitely a trauma response. Kathy invalidates Paris constantly and makes everything about herself. Ugh.
It’s been triggering to watch and anyone who has any kind of toxic or traumatic upbringing/relationship with a parent will understand.
Rant over lol. I can’t be the only one who feels this way, right?!

I’ve just started watching and have never been a fan but Kathy Hilton made me curious (thanks RHOBH). On episode 4 and honestly cannot believe how much I like Paris but concurrently find that its hard to watch her get treated like crap by Kathy and that man (her now husband). He’s passive-aggressive, plain aggressive, shaming, demeaning— basically Kathy Jr. I thought K was amusing before but now? Hard pass. I don’t find controlling/steamrolling, not respecting boundaries endearing.
It’s causing a bit of cognitive dissonance for me to try and reconcile that these people seemingly have put out this show to get fans but cannot see what a poor light they are bathed in. Also how didn’t Paris herself have some kind of come-to-Jesus moment and wake up, break up, and get the hell outta dodge. Oi vey. This show has given me palpitations. Run, Paris, run! It’s never too late!
Anyone notice how quickly she dropped her kooky act? She's a total type A control freak and Paris seems terrified of her at times. She's also subtly and constantly pitting Paris and Nicki against each other, painting Nicki as the 'good' daughter who married extremely well and without a fuss. I get the feeling this was very much the dynamic Nicki and Paris grew up in, and it likely only intensified after Paris was sent to Provo. Kathy enjoys the fame Paris brings into her life but Nicki will always be her favorite daughter.
Also, my hot take: Paris isn't in love, she and Carter have ZERO chemistry and she's only rushing into marriage with a finance guy to make her mom happy.
It’s makes my head spin to see how quickly Kathy drops her act (which is clearly where Paris learned it, to be fair) when she’s not on RHOBH. She went from goofy air headed rich woman to old money mom-zilla very quickly.
Has anyone seen the first episode of Paris in Love yet?
Kathy appeared to be more strict, bossy, in control and even clever like she did when she had her guest appearances in the early seasons of RHOBH.
Kathy also threw a little fit when she found out Paris’ fiancé didn’t use the Hermes tray she gifted him properly. It was awkward to watch especially when Paris mentioned that it was actually the housekeepers who kept the Hermes tray in the kitchen and not her fiancé - typical old rich lady not getting what she wants kind of vibe.
One can assume this is the real Kathy and the quirky and dumb blonde antics she had for RHOBH season 11 were nothing but an act.
