A list of puns related to "PVC decking"
Can anyone comment on their experience with Trex, Azek or similar PVC/composite decking and scratch resistance to dogs? I spoke to a TimberTech rep who recommended their Azek Vintage or Reserve lines. I am considering replacing my rotting pressure treated deck surface with one of these types of products. We have a 70-lb boxer that loves to run and skid.
I just bought a house with an in ground pool. There are a few holes in the concrete deck that are lined with pvc. They donβt go all the way around the pool so I donβt believe them to be for a fence. Could they be for umbrellas?
Hey all,
Read through a bunch of the threads here, but couldn't really find anything on the Fiberon Paramount line. I have decided on going with a PVC deck, but am trying to decide between these two. I've read on here good things about the Azek, but has anyone had any experience with Fiberon's Paramount line? Is it comparable quality to Azek?
Thanks!
I have a deck thatβs made of PVC. The skirting of the deck runs right to the ground. With the relatively recent construction that happened behind my house, the field mice have been digging under the skirting and have moved in under my deck.
Iβm looking to fasten some mesh around the deck like many YouTube videos suggest, and I was thinking a handheld staple gun might work to secure the mesh onto the PVC material. It would save me the hassle of renting a compressor and gun, plus, it would ensure I donβt end up splitting the pvc planks.
Anyone have experience with this material? Can I use something like this? or will I have to rent a finishing gun?
Anyone have experience good or bad with sheet vinyl or PVC decking products? Like Econodek, Duradek, Tufdek, or other sheet material rated for foot traffic.
I'm in New England.
We are building a deck this summer and at the moment, planning to use Azek (Dark Hickory) as the surface. We live in Seattle so not a terribly hot climate, but our deck will get FULL sun exposure all summer long. Seattle summers can definitely have stretches of 90, even 100 degree weather but more consistently remains in the 80s. Our concern is obviously heat. We are a family that is barefoot a lot and would prefer to not have to put on shoes every time we go outside just to walk on the deck. I would appreciate hearing other reviews with similar or the same product.
I'm going to be starting a small deck project off the front of my house this summer. I have a north facing home in the northeastern U.S. After reading extensively about the pros and cons of the the decking types, I'm leaning toward composite or PVC. I want this to last a while as I have no plans of moving any time soon. Fade resistance is important to me as even at the height of summer the deck will be halfway in the shade.
I understand the material differences between composite and PVC, but what real world differences? They both claim to wear about the same. They both have concealed fastening options. They both claim to have high fade resistance. Why should I pay a few more dollars for a PVC product? Is it cooler to walk on (thinking of a light to medium gray)? Which deck type is more slippery in rain & snow? Are they both salt resistant, 'cause I will be salting it in the winter? Anyone care to provide some hands on input into my dilemma? Why chose one over the other? Thanks redditors!
I have to replace my deck. I'd like to go composite or PVC but I'm not seeing much about how good a fit it is for our climate. For example I was told that shoveling some composite decks will void the warranty, they are slippery in the winter, they shrink and expand a lot, etc. I'd probably go top of the line as results seem better. Would you help me out and share your experiences?
Would like to paint a deck railing that has a what I think is a pvc or vinyl slip over cover on it. My idea was to clean it, spray prime then paint with a behr marquee exterior. Will that work? Way to much work to scuff or sand. I read if I sprayed it down with accetone it would help.. Any thoughts or advice. Really appreciate it...
Iβm FINALLY approaching the end of my deck build with my shitty Contracter. He just told me we never talked about color for the railing and the only color available is black, unless I wait 6-8 more weeks to order a different one. I have the trex Enhance Foggy wharf color as decking and wondering
1: will black look good with this?
2: does the black railing get crazy hot?
Do NOT use bleach or any sort of acid wash! They're poisonous, bad for the environment, will likely discolor your deck, and may not even get rid of everything they are supposed to.
Look out for articles out there that say that it's okay, maybe it was when there were previous versions of these deck boards out, but that is not the case anymore!
Use something like Zep 505, Chomp, or Timbertech Deck Cleaner. Test a smaller area before you do the whole deck, too.
Trying to keep the deck low, as there is only about a 4" height difference between concrete slab and door to the house. So I worry that spacers+sleepers+deck boards would exceed that.
Looked into composite deck tiles, and may still go that route, but for about 320 sq ft it'll be about $2500 so I'm exploring this option just in case.
Using PVC with grooves cut would allow water to flow and would mean no wood is directly in contact with the ground. But I haven't seen this done in any of my internet scouring. Any reason this can't be the method?
We have railing on our back deck that looks something like this. On the top, there are a couple of deep gouges/channels in it where something has chipped it away, exposing some sort of light blue underlayer. Is there something that I can do to fix this short of replacing the rail?
Currently building Singin' in the Rain. I was the lighting designer last time my theatre did the show seven years ago. I intend to accomplish the rain effect pretty much like they did it before but would really appreciate any advise or constructive criticism for my plan.
My plan:
Run a hose from the paint sink backstage to the DSL ceiling overstage (ceiling height is about 11 feet from the deck).
Attach hose to a PVC pipe attached to the ceiling that I run the length of the stage, parallel to the proscenium. The PVC pipe would have a series of small holes drilled in the top and a cap on the end as well as some screen netting material tied around it to make the water fall at least a little irregular (not quite just one line of rain).
Turn on the sink, once the PVC pipe has filled with water the rain should start to fall out of the drilled holes.
Any advise or info y'all can provide would be great!

People often ask about the legitimacy and/or safety of a number of websites which sell large resin statues. The more commonly-asked of those deal primarily in resins from studios which do not have a license from the Japanese IP holders to produce merchandise. Therefore links to those sites are not permitted here. Another sign is if MyFigureCollection doesn't list the either the statue, its manufacturer, or the shop it's being sold on.
