So I recently got a Fiio btr5 and am using it with Poweramp on my pixel 5 but when I try to disable absolute volume to use DVC it doesn't output it play when opensl es hi-res is selected in output. With out DVC the volume levers can be a drastic difference in levels but I'd like to be able to use hi-res output since the regular output is caped at 16bit. I'm just looking for any recommendations that might help.

So i have run into my first issue with PlexAmp. I was messing around in the settings looking for something that might make my music playing possibly louder because it kinda sounded faint...so i changed from OpenSL ES to AAudio and thats right when my issues started. The app stopped playing music and then crashed and would keep crashing. I kept trying to reopen the app and quickly change the setting back but i wouldnt have enough time before it crashed again. I even restarted my phone and still kept crashing so then i uninstalled the plexamp app and reinstalled it and was back on track lol

Out of curiosity what is AAudio and OpenSL ES specifically for?

I use 2 AndroidTV boxes and I can’t change the audio renderer in Kodi, it only has the AudioTrack option.

In VLC I can use "OpenSL ES" and the sound is better, no drop and instant start of the sound versus 1-2 sec for the start with audiotrack.

Any tricks to add OpenSL ES in Kodi?

It said that some devices might not be able to use it which are older, but I don't know how old a phone would have to be to not take advantage of this. I'm currently using a Note 8, but this feature doesn't seem to improve audio quality at all for me, whereas it has been improving it pretty nicely for others that i've seen. Have any of you gotten this feature to work on your Galaxy devices? If so, what did you do?

I'm using PowerAmp v3 on Samsung Galaxy S8+ with original set up of Hi-Res Output at 24bit 96kHz (which I set to 192kHz afterwards), but I kinda think that OpenSL ES that has only 16bit 48 kHz output sounds better than Hi-Res.

What's is exactly happenning? Are my ears bad or it's just personal favor? Or is it because it frequency upscaling?

By this feedback, many users on Android got massiv quality problems when it comes to voice communication. No, it is not the only thread where people complain about the quality. Google is flooded by Android users who complain about the audio quality and there is not a single comment "bla bla fixed it for me". Not. A. Single. One.

And no. It is not an Android problem. It is, in fact, a Discord App problem. Teamspeak works. Plumble, Mumla and other Mumble Apps are freaking working, WiFi calls do work. Voice over IP apps are working flawlessly.

Why on earth does Discord not work for almost over 3 years now?

To make it clear: If you join a Voice channel, the audio quality on Android devices just drops like it's a 1980 phonecall. Not just Discord, but systemwide. Spotify audio drops at the exact same moment as I join a voice channel.

Please, in the name of Wompus: finally fix it! Implementation of OpenSL ES didn't change anything.

I was just reading this post, which reminded me of a similar situation.

TL;DR: Sales and Marketing Director has a plan to get an edge over his competition. Ends up bleeding clients to the competition instead.

This took place a little over 20 years ago in South Africa.

I'd just joined a new company that was a technical service provider for a number of companies, including gaming (as in gambling) companies, cellular companies, banks and more. We did tech work, but the industries were vastly different and that made the work incredibly challenging and interesting.

As the new IT manager, one of the first things I did was to install a ticketing system (Request Tracker - RT, if you're interested) for people to log IT support tickets. In under a week I had enough information to start making recommendations on streamlining a lot of our technical services.

The sales and marketing director (SMD) saw the stats I had access to and got (almost sexually) excited, and demanded that we give his sales guys access to the request tracker. It wasn't a perfect fit out of the box, but over the next few weeks we tweaked it so that it became a very useful tool for them.

Some thing to understand about is is that we provided technical services to our clients, and we used special (and stupidly expensive) software that was licensed to us. The way the licenses worked is that there was a very expensive 'management' server that required a license that cost about $10 000 per year, and then you needed client licenses that cost something like $20 000 per year for 10, and $25 000 per year for a hundred. We had about 5 thousand licenses, so each individual license ended up costing us something like $30 - $100 (different license capabilities). So we ran the 'main' management server at our office, and delegated x licenses to a special management server at each client's site. We got away with this because only our staff used the client licenses, even though they were using the client licenses on behalf of a different entity entirely (it was quasi legit - had the software license owner challenged this in court they may have won, but their competitor had a significantly cheaper product with slightly less functionality that we would have migrated to so everyone just pretended we were friends and were OK with everything going on. We were by far their biggest custom

The Intro

Below is my retrospective for my roughly 2 week period trading Calevonlear’s strat. Note that this will include a view of my mentality over this period as well as I believe it's relevant to the strategy execution.

To be very clear, I'm in no way trying to blame /u/calevonlear here in the slightest. I read his notes, I thought it was an interesting and promising strategy that I hadn't encountered before, I misjudged my actual risks, and I'm not very good at day trading futures which exacerbated my losses. My own actions and decisions resulted in my losses. I only reference him because he's the one I learned the strategy from.

I'm sharing my experience in the interest of knowledge-sharing as a warning about what I now think is the actual worst case short-term scenario for this strategy.

I had seen his strat around and followed the performance for a few months. I liked the most recent iteration, the /ES 7DTE ATM strat on paper, especially since it was something he mentioned being an intentional choice so that even his wife could trade it from the phone if he weren’t able to. It sounded very mechanical, and I was comfortable with what I thought was the max drawdown of the strategy. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. What I thought would be a week-long test just to get a feel for trading ATM puts through some light market oscillations turned out to be a strategy that trapped me.

I wrote up my notes here on 9/26 after scouring all his comments.

Quick strategy summary (read the above link if you want more)

• Selling 7-9DTE ATM puts on /ES to maximize extrinsic value.

• BTC at $250 per contract which can be 15-25% depending on IV, but is a 10 point move at open.

• If the market rises, ‘leapfrog’ and sell another /ES at the next $5 strike. You’ll have 2 strikes open and a 3rd opening when the first closes.

• If it falls, sell one every 10 point fall, up to 6 strikes max, creating a ‘cascade’ of puts.

• On a bigger fall, “Freeze” your portfolio. Once delta reaches 0.9 on all your puts, short /ES contrac

I’m looking at my local dealership right now, and found this 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage ES for $17,500, with a mileage of 11,168.

I’m applying for an auto-loan at my credit union, and I’m really not attracted to buy a brand new car right now. I want less than $20k, and somewhat 2017-2020 models.

I want to compare it with the 2020 Honda Fit I found on Carmax. $25,998 with 9,000 miles.

I haven’t heard of Mitsubishi being compared or something like that, people have told me to be safe, get an either Honda or Toyota, or Mazda.

Looked up how long does their battery lasts until you have to replace it, says 10 years. It’s been 10 years since this car has been released, so I’m a little conflicted about this, unless someone state otherwise.

Das Modell Aeron soll wohl der meistverkaufte Bürostuhl sein und wird im Internet ziemlich gehyped. Tatsächlich habe ich ihn schon häufiger in Serien gesehen (bspw. The Big Bang Theory, South Park). Da ich mir schon länger einen neuen Bürostuhl mit Sitzneigeverstellung wünsche und man den Aeron damit ausstatten kann, hab ich ihn mir zum Testen bestellt.

Und... ehrlich gesagt: Ich kann den Hype überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen. Folgend mal ein paar Kritikpunkte und meine Daten:

• Modell Aeron in Größe B und Vollausstattung; Körpergröße 189cm und 72kg
• Beim Zurücklehnen spüre ich die obere Leiste (Rahmen) in den Schulterblättern
• Tiefenverstellung von den Armlehnen ist zu locker. Beim Korrigieren der Sitzhaltung mittels Abstützen auf den Armlehnen rutschen diese zu leicht nach vorne. Da frag ich mich, warum sie nicht den gleichen (hohen) Widerstand hat wie die Drehverstellung.
• Armlehnen sind an der Rückenlehne befestigt und beim Aussteigen und Hinsetzen fühlt sich der Stuhl wackelig an, wenn man sich über die Armlehnen abstützt. (Fiel mir auf, wenn Sitzneigung nach vorne aktiviert ist)
• Ausgezeichnet gefällt mir, dass selbst die Sitzfläche aus Mesh ist und super atmet. Allerdings hat es auch den Nachteil, dass der vordere Teil der Sitzfläche bedingt durch den Rahmen nicht beweglich ist. Dadurch spürt man den Rahmen leider im Oberschenkel, wenn man sich zurücklehnt oder die Beine ausstreckt.
• Arme lassen sich nicht weit genug zurücknehmen aufgrund der breiten Rückenlehne im oberen Bereich. Dadurch stoße ich leider beim Wechsel zwischen Tastatur und Maus mit dem rechten Ellenbogen gegen den Rahmen der Rückenlehne. Auch stören die breiten Seiten beim seitlichen Recken der Arme. Ich werde definitiv nie wieder einen Stuhl testen/kaufen, bei dem die Rückenlehne nach oben hin breiter wird und über die Armlehnen hinausragt.
• Sitzfläche ist nicht in der Tiefe verstellbar. Da ich relativ groß bin und entsprechend lange Beine hab, hab ich bei langem Sitzen das Gefühl, dass mir meine Oberschenkel abgeschnürt werden. Zwischen Unterschenkel und den Rahmen der Sitzfläche passen meine vier Finger (also genau wie empfohlen), aber leider entspricht der Rahmen ja nicht der Fläche, wo der Oberschenkel aufliegt. Posting on here because I’ve seen good advice

I’m in my second F2 rotation and right now I’m feeling broken and don’t feel like I can continue in this job. I’ve had doubts about medicine but I wanted to finish F2 and decide from a good place after taking an F3 but right now I don’t feel like I can continue with the training programme.

I’ve had a run of horrible rotations through F1 and F2, the kind where if you mention the department to other juniors they say “oof unlucky” because they are notoriously crap departments to work in. I’ve already been struggling with the nights and long days in my last rotation but I tried to push through and didn’t want to seek help as my ES is not that supportive and is in the “build resilience” camp. TPD is not much better.

Now I’m doing a rotation where I’m on an NROC rota and it’s breaking me. I have at least one 32 hour shift in a week (full day, then overnight then back on full day) where despite it being “NROC” it is anything but for an F2. I’m doing in essence a 16 hour day (full 8 hour shift and then we’re called for stuff until around 1am in the morning) then back on a full day at 8am. As well as this I’m doing 48 hour weekend shifts.

I dread going into work. I can’t sleep the night before the 32 hour shift as I lay awake with my mind racing. Can’t get rest during the 32 hour shift for fear of my phone ringing at any point and I’m constantly checking the ED list to see if anyone’s arrived that they could call me about. I can’t get rest the day after because I lie awake thinking about the shift. I’m anxious about doing any of the day shift jobs because I feel so tired and am so scared of making a mistake. I’m pretty sure the seniors think I’m underperforming with the amount of stuff I’m having to ask them.

The regs are not that supportive and there is a culture of suspicion towards the juniors from everyone (it is a small department and admin and seniors work closely together). Colleagues who were on this rotation previously also struggled and some went off with stress I’ve been told. We are understaffed on the junior doctor side and they haven’t yet recruited for the gap and we end up being flooded with stuff if anyone goes off sick and have to beg the seniors for help. Naturally the regs are then critical and nitpicky if the remaining person/people are unable to pick up the slack.

I spend one night a week in the hospital accommodation plus some weekends for these shifts as I live too far and the rota coord

The 39 BTC number I got is assuming they have a problem with the zeros removal (6) that happened in October. Hope they solve it soon. I might be wrong, but considering historical averages I think that number is ok (one zero less would be 390BTC which is crazy and one zero more would be 3 BTC with is so low!)

Some remarks:

• Yes, monthly minimum wage is 10 Bs. (around 2.2 USD monthy)
• Average wage is around 80 USD monthly.
• Binance is king when it comes to usage here, they have invested a lot of money in marketing and have chance to exchange directly Bolivares to crypto (P2P).
• According to some NGO a 5 members family needs around 500 USD monthly to live.
• Crypto is used here, some places you can pay directly with crypto like Traki and Biomercados. A big undeground minning comunity is working all day, considering the free electricity (but unrealiable), crypto is also used to send remittances from relatives abroad to here in Venezuela and in general society is very open to this, even when some people like "stablecoins" like USDT (what a risk), USDC and BUSD.

The theory: Student Loan Asset Backed Securities (SLABs) have become the new collateral in place of subprime mortgage backed securities. And this situation may be even worse. Here's why.

After mortgage backed securities shit the bed in 2008, funds needed another form of collateral to support their dogshit wrapped in catshit. Enter SLABs. They're exactly what they sound like: securities based on outstanding student loans. These loans are then packaged into tranches and sold to investors (Sound familiar?). However, I am of the opinion that these SLABs are drastically overvalued (Sound familiar part 2?), and this has been compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Student loans, by US law, are very difficult to discharge. (And yes, private SLABs that don't adhere to federal law exist, but federal loans make up 90% of all student loans). By law, you have to prove in a court that the loan will cause you an 'undue hardship on you and your dependents' if you wish to discharge it completely. This is very vague, and I am under the impression that most judges will not even consider these cases as it was your choice to take out the loan in the first place: you knew the risks when you decided to go to that 80k out of state school and get a philosophy degree. Proving something ambiguous like this beyond reasonable doubt is not easy. Even defaulting doesn't help - a

In VLC I can use "OpenSL ES" and the sound is better, as if it were ASIO/WASAPI in Windows.
