A list of puns related to "Open Era tennis records β men's singles"
The only people with multiple wins against him in grand slam matches are:
Nadal (10)
Federer (6)
Wawrinka (4)
Murray (2)
Thiem (2)
Berdych (2)
Safin (2)
Murray was the only one in the tournament, but he's been knocked out.
17 others have 1 win, of them, 6 of them lost in qualifiers/first two rounds, 2 didn't play, and 8 have retired from tennis. So that just leaves Nishikori (1-5 in grand slam matches vs Djokovic).
Say what you want about the Tennis Channel announcers. Seriously. Say it. They make it impossible to watch tennis. I cannot recommend enough the Tennistv subscription as the announcers are generally absent or competent. There is something very casually malicious about the way the announcers are completely unfamiliar with the tour players aside from the stats and numbers they read, and how awkwardly childishly they talk about the game. You can suggest that theyβre not announcing for the advanced tennis fan, but letβs be honest, nobody is watching tennis like people tune in for the Super Bowl every year who never watch a game during the season. Furthermore, by talking to the audience like theyβre idiots they remain so. Wouldnβt you want your fans to gradually learn more about the game and the tour? Wouldnβt you be a knob if you assume that the audience doesnβt understand the game well enough to understand what has just happened? Imagine hiring a coach who doesn't teach you anything new because you don't already know it. It is exhausting having to watch tennis on mute because a condescending muppet insists on talking not to me about tennis, but at me. A guy like Darren Cahill is an absolute joy to listen to. Heβs educational, he knows all the players on tour, and he describes yet respects the game. More of that, less of βYOU KNOW THE CROWD WOULD BE MAKING NOISE IF THEY WERE HEREβ.
I realized I always do the men first. Letβs switchitup. Whether itβs the fast courts of the layoff being great for players coming into this event healthy and free of mental fatigue, the quality of play on the womenβs side has been incredible this week. Simply unreal how many matches are being decided by who plays better not who makes errors.
Brady Kerber : Jack Sock can play doubles. The only forehand I need is Jenn Brady. She swings so fast it almost looks like sheβs made poor contact with as much speed as the ball comes out with. Sheβs using this to get great short angles to her opponents forehand wings and sheβs serving at a pretty good clip. Garcia has become a dangerous returner but a few too many errors and losing most of the longer points spelled a respectable 3rd round exit for her. Kerber dispatched Ann Li who was a good test to see where Kerberβs game is as she was playing good attacking tennis and moving the ball around but without a serve. Kerber was up to the task and she will be a really difficult matchup for Brady, who excels on taking control of the point
... keep reading on reddit β‘As the title states, Verdasco played in 67 straight grand slams from 2003 Wimbledon to 2020 Australian Open. I haven't been able to find anyone who has played in more consecutive grand slams, with Federer's 65 straight from 2000 Australian Open to 2016 Australian Open being the closest second. Is this an Open era record?
