Nose work people! Odor threshold question.

I was working a very low odor source yesterday (dry bones) and Eli was having a very difficult time and I could tell his own confirmation was by visual identification. Odor would draw him into the general area, but there was a lot of pawing to uncover and see it before indication. I honestly haven't had this issue before.

My thoughts are to utilize containers and do some line ups with them. My question is, should I cue the indication the moment his nose gets a sniff of the target odor? Would decreasing the time needed to recognize the odor?

My other idea is to let him work it out on his own, giving a marker when he comes back to the correct odor and waiting for the indication.

Thoughts, other ideas?

Tournaments organizers, please lower your detection threshold in Dota TV

I noticed in Dota TV, and for almost all tournaments, the detection threshold is way to high and ends up cutting sentences, I can't understand anything because of that.

Currently happening in PGL.

Could tournament organizers check their threshold?

as of yesterday, submit spam detection threshold is too small

Since yesterday, making a post, seeing a typo, fixing it, and then seeing another one is now creating an infuriating experience.

While I get that you want to guard against bots that mass spam and submit posts at a rapid pace. '3' posts per time_unit seems way too aggressive.

Can we change it to 5 posts? 10 posts? Or perhaps something that will only impact spam bots and not legitimate usage?

Thanks.

What are odors? Is β€˜smelling’ just a detection of the chemical composition of tiny particles by the sensory hairs in your nose?

I assume that what we actually experience as smell is really just tiny particles interacting with your nose hairs, but is that correct? And why are smells so varied and unique? Does smelling work similarly to hearing where the tiny hairs send signals to the brain based on the pressure signal it receives? Do the sensory hairs in the nose receive chemical signals that they then convert to a nerve signal?

I’ve thought a lot about this and always found it interesting how little I was taught in high school science classes about how your nose works compared to the eye, ears, even your tongue.

What confident score threshold do you use for object detection ?

I'm currently working on an object detection method. However, my confidence scores are quite low, leading to a quite small AP when I consider that a prediction is good if its confidence score is above 0.5.

The AP increases greatly when I reduce the threshold, in my case 0.2.

Is there a way to improve or remap my scores ? Is it mandatory to keep the threshold at 0.5 ? If no, how do you persobally choose this threshold ?

Thanks

I MAKE A TRADING BOT ABLE TO BUY WHEN IT DETECTS BULLISH MOVEMENT, AND THEN LATER SELLS AT STOP LOSS / TAKE PROFIT THRESHOLDS.

My script is based on this project Binance-volatility-trading-bot (originally written in Python). I like the project and decided to make my own Java Script version of the bot to fix some issues myself and add some modifications/improvements on the original script. In case you've missed the OG version, here is the main functions of the bot:

  1. Listen to the prices on Binance every interval of 4 minutes.
  2. Figure out which coin's price has increase by 3% in each interval and proceed to buy the coin.
  3. Track the bought assets' prices every interval, sell at 6% profit or 3% stop loss.

All the of the variables: Budget, Interval, Take profit or Stop loss thresholds, The change in price to trigger the buy function... are configurable by the user

Here is the source code of the project. Follow the README file for more information, including the installation and configuration steps.

I would be more than happy to hear your suggestions to make the script run more effectively.

Why are some chemicals "odorless and colorless" for example? Are there certain properties that lead things to have no odor, or is it just something like UV light that our brains cannot detect?
