Accidentally broke sprinkler with a golf club in my apartment. Caused 80k in damages.

Hello,

Unfortunately I broke the sprinkler of my apartment with a golf club (incredibly stupid I know…) and I admitted this to nearly everyone. My landlord, the insurance company who came to inspect, etc…I thought being honest would help. This was 2 months ago.

Now 2 months have past and they finally gave me the quote for the damages and it came out to around 80k. They are going to send me the itemized costs to confirm everything.

The building management is demanding me to pay 50k to them to cover their insurance deductible and potentially, their insurance company will come to me for the rest.

Do I have any hope after admitting fault/negligence and going on record?

Edit: Unfortunately I don’t have renters insurance….

Edit 2: the sprinkler broke and a lot of water came out, spreading through my apartment and others apartments. Carpeting and two feet of walls had to be removed due to potential mold and new walls/flooring had to be put in.

Edit 3: Thank you all for your advice. I’m going to have to accept my fate and of course, don’t be stupid next time. For all readers, please make sure you have renters insurance!!
