A list of puns related to "Obscure Records"
Looking for a place that's not too expensive with obscure metal (specifically death metal or grindcore or hardcore) or obscure emo (as in like alt-rock, midwest, skramz, sunny day real estate, emo math rock etc. type emo) or any kinda obscure post-punk music especially with electronic elements
Tim talked about this in the podcast Turned Out A Punk recently but I cannot find it on any of the 3 game night episodes of Office Hours on YouTube. Does anyone know where to find this?
We are all probably familiar with some of more common NBA records. Stockton's career assists. Russell's 11 rings. MJ's 6 Finals MVPs. Nearly everything Wilt did. But what about some of the lesser known records that are just as unbreakable?
My nominee is Darryl Dawkins personal foul record. In the 1983-84 season, Darryl Dawkins racked up 386 personal fouls. In his 81 games that year, here is the breakdown for the number of fouls he had:
6 fouls- 22 games
5 fouls- 34 games
4 fouls- 12 games
3 fouls- 10 games
2 fouls- 3 games
I just don't see any player in the modern game averaging over 4.7 fouls per game for an entire season.
Find a record thats reasonably obscure and somewhat hilarious. My favourite one is that the GOAT Richard Gasquet has the most Southern France Open wins with four wins in the singles, while the lesser Pete Sampras only managed three wins consecutively.
After reading this article (paywall) it turns our we need to keep an eye on Panarin this season. Based on his assist rate the last 2 shortened seasons, he is likely to break the record if he plays a full season this year.
>The record-holder isnβt a Hall of Famer or even much of a star.
>According to most sources, including the NHL itself, the record is held by Joe Juneau, who had 70 assists as a rookie in 1992-93. That was the year he played on a line with Adam Oates and (when healthy) Cam Neely. It was also his only full season in Boston; he was traded to the Capitals at the 1994 trade deadline. To give you an idea of how impressed the hockey world was by his record-breaking feat as a rookie, he didnβt receive a single first-place Calder vote that year and was left off 11 of the 50 ballots entirely.
>You could also make an argument for Bob MacMillan of the Atlanta Flames in 1978-79, as heβs the guy who heads up the hockey-reference list. MacMillan was mostly a right winger in his career, but apparently played the left side for much of that season. He had 71 assists, so whether you give the nod to him or Juneau, the point remains: Left wingers just donβt get many helpers.
...
>But the biggest near-miss was Artemi Panarin, who was well on the way to breaking the record in 2019-20 when the season was cut short by the pandemic. He was on pace for 74 assists that year, and last season he was racking up helpers at a record-shattering pace of almost one per game. Thereβs a decent chance he breaks the record this year if he plays close to 82 games.
I'm in the process of a big shift in my life that requires a lot of downsizing. It's painful to see these go, but at least I know if I sell them here they're likely to go to a good home.
I'm matching below Discogs lowest current US sale price of similar grading. All records are shipped securely in a Whiplash mailer, outside of the sleeve (if opened), with mofi inners and 3mil poly outers. Shipping $5 in US for any amount of records. Orders over $40 get insurance included. Willing to do bulk deals. First come, first serve (no "dibs" without payment).
I've had a few people offer Venmo and bank transfer, but I only accept Paypal for US buyers. I typically don't ship internationally except for certain exceptions.*

... keep reading on reddit β‘Every DJ who has a turntable has probably run into old and obscure electronic albums at some point, be it at a thrift store or used record shop. What are your favorite records you've found that are obscure or forgotten but still bang? Mine are Boomy Room by Pyrex Detox and Fracture by Cytochrome.
Just looking to get some vinyl, and a lot of record stores don't always have what I'm looking for.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Sin After Sin by Judas Priest
