It would help when
- you have a history of paying on time
- have a ARPU that is higher than their average subscriber
- be a long time subscriber of around a decade or longer
- have more than 1 account under your account name
Tips on MNP especially for postpaid mobile number accounts
- send a signed formal letter of request of porting as early as 30 days before end of lock up period. you can do so via email or over the counter at a DITO/GLO/TEL Stores.
- settle all your outstanding balance and send a scanned copy of proof of payment to your telco
- be polite, professional in language straightforward and honest with your concerns.
- remind your telco about the value of relations especially those that spans decades
- state in the letter account name, account number, billing address, mobile # and what the other telecom company is offering
- state that you are willing to stay with them when they offer you a competitive offer
- state that you want your USC number on the end date of lock up period and that this formal letter gives them 30 days to provide a timely response. When they delay beyond 30 days state that you refuse to pay any further fees as it isn't your fault why they are foot dragging.
After nearly 2 months of negotiations I was able to get the smartphone amortization & text/calls/data services at a better rate than the competitor. The rate is so good that I am asking the manager I am talking to to extend the rate to future as the offer is that freaking awesome.
Hint: The total cost over 36 months of service/amortization is below the MSRP of the phones we are renewing to.
If you want it sooner than 1 months then you need to follow up with them every 48 hrs. I followed up with them every week or so.

I want to leave vodafone but keep my number and go to orange. I read multiple stories of bank OTPs not reaching anymore after people did this step, and that it works for some operator combos and not for others..
Has anyone left Vodafone and went to Orange and lived to tell the tale ?
What are the issues and/or working known combos ?
EDIT: Update: I went ahead and did it and transferred from Vodafone to Orange, there were a few hiccups solely due to bad employees in remote branches, but once rectified, the service actually works well, and I don't have any problems with bank SMS or Google or Facebook or any SMS.

I currently have Rogers. Work gave me a Bell phone and I and don't see the need to keep paying for my own phone. However I have thousands of contacts who know my cell and it is way too daunting to inform everyone of my number change.
I don't care about data. Just minimal voice minutes is fine so that I can retain that number. I would like my number ported. If call redirect doesn't cost too much I would like that too so I only have to carry 1 phone around. Hoping for no more than $15 a month taxes in.

Thanks to watching his techniques on YouTube, I've got my spam calls down to zero from out of the USA, and now, I'm just dealing with local phishing attempts, and am narrowing those down too. Did you see that video where he takes down the call center in India?! Awesome work dude!
So I've been using the Carrier Lookup tool to find out where my spam calls come from, and like I said, I have eliminated most of the ones from out of the USA with complaints to the carriers. They always reply to my complaints, it's amazing. So now, I am still getting calls from what I think are shady B2B businesses, or local phishing scammers.
My business phone is run through Google Voice answering service, and so they need to state why they are calling right off the bat, which throws off the caller, and they usually hang up. Occasionally, they will give me a suspicious answer, which is when I press the button that replies "Please be more clear in your response" or something like that. And sometimes, they are even legit!
When I look these suspicious numbers up on this website: https://scammerblaster.com/carrier-lookup/
I get the carrier (which is always in the USA, and not a VOIP provider, since I've gotten most of Asian scammers taken care of), and a string of digits after it, like this: Verizon Wireless:6006 - SVR/2
So, I am wondering if I can narrow down the location a bit more with that code after the carrier name. This string above is the most common by far that I get. I would like to know a bit more before I start retaliating.
Is anyone familiar with this? What else can I do to find the caller's location and/or identity? Thanks! And thank you Jim for your service!
