A list of puns related to "Nemesis (operating system)"
It's not safe to open windows in space.
For me, it's the Adobe suite. Not that it's perfect, but the alternatives for most of its appa are really out of the competition, especially for Photoshop.

Aero is a new modern, experimental, unix-like operating system following the monolithic kernel design. Supporting modern PC features such as long mode, 5-level paging, and SMP (multicore), to name a few.
Its already able to run programs such as the GNU coreutils, GNU binutils, Nyancat, TinyCC, GCC and soon doom generic and rust aswell :)

Hello everybody body, I am considering changing my laptop from windows to Linux arch, I watched tutorials, and I know the steps. But I want to make sure if changing OS may hurt my laptop, because it's my Main device, and I won't be able to change it.
... and call it BezOS
It should B Ez to use too
I personally use Firefox on Fedora Linux.
Hello! I've been using Ubuntu for a while now, and so far, I love it. But I'm primarily talking about the UI when I compare it with another OS like Windows. What are some actual functional benefits of Linux over other operating systems? I'm not talking about things like Linux being open-source, free, more secure, etc. I'm learning App Dev, so are there any benefits that I can take advantage of on a day-to-day basis that makes my workflow easier? For example, I've heard of being able to automate some things using the bash scripts in the terminal. I'm sorry if I said something stupid and sound like a complete beginner; it's because I am.
Thank you for your time!
Linux is the worst operating system for the same reason.
That's it... that's all I've got.
Hi, I've been developing C++ / C# graphics (mainly OpenGL) for a while now and I want to switch to arch, I was wondering if arch is the kind of distro that forces you to learn what's going on under the hood (because I love that and I want to learn about operating systems) and if it has some good tools that help me develop faster and more efficiently, waiting for any advices. Thanks!
so, I like C++!
I was wondering if I could write an operating system in C++, with the bootloader of course being in assembly. All the operating systems Ive seen has had their kernels written in C, but I've been wondering if I could write a small kernel in C++. Would it be equal difficulty to C, or should I just learn C?
thanks!
Hello there! I am Daniel, and I am the creator, and lead-developer of LibertyOS. LibertyOS is an operating system, written in Rust, that I created out of a strong desire to write my own operating system. After nearly a decade of wanting to create an OS, I discovered Rust, and I realized that I could finally accomplish my goal.
In recent weeks, LOS has really been "blowing up" in popularity. The official Discord group has over 40 members, the repository has ~140 stars, and I just did an interview on a Rust-centered podcast (I don't know if I can say which one, but there aren't too many).
We have plenty of idea guys, which is a wonderful thing, but I am still the only person who knows how to develop the actual kernel. I don't know if this is the right place to do so, but I am asking for any help that this community can provide. More specifically, I am looking for people who know Rust, understand the basics of an operating system, know how to work without the standard library, and want to make something awesome.
If you cannot help, that is fine. I would ask that you still check out the repository, and maybe join the Discord group so we can all hang out. I am not giving up (I am far more interested in this project than ever before), but the project has really been doing well lately, and I could really use some help. :)

Thank you all! I love this community, and I look forward to sharing the awesome stuff that comes out of this project!
P.S. We are thinking of changing the name. We need something related to the concept of liberty, privacy, etc., so if you have an idea for a better name, please let me know! :)
What operating system do you run as your daily driver?
After 37 years in the vx industry I've seen alot of bullshit and yesterday I got to work with a Rockwell-futec mt900s-ia350, these fucking dipshits at futec seriously jacked the operating system out of a blackberry cellphone. Also why the fuck did they use Chrysler gears and bearings connected to a reliance 240v-400ah-567wh with a tremic pipe on the third, seventh, and twenty second stator, I thought everyone stopped pulling this bull shit after the Milwaukee meat packing factory disaster of '91.
Hello to all!
I am currently developing a web application being a distributed operating system and I would like to have your feedback on the subject.
The idea is that today, we have multiple ways to represent a product or a service on a web page. The techniques and concepts evolving rapidly in the front-end domain, I had the idea to start again on the basis regarding the operability of a system. So I developed a web site taking the form of a command terminal.
Most of the Linux commands are implemented, so you can create folders and files in your directories as soon as you are connected. In the future, I want to provide video, image and audio playback applications, as well as make a torrent client.
The advantage of being on a distributed OS is that the filesystem of all users can be shared, which means that you can visit your neighbor's directory (except for the hidden folders).
Here you go, I hope you enjoy and I'm waiting for your feedback :)

After Windows fried my graphic card I decided to make the switch (it's actually return) to Linux. I've used pop os for a long time but never for art or video editing. I was considering pop os but I need to know what other os have to offer since my work requires long hours of rendering and heavy long videos also 3D art.
Update: I want to thank you all for the feedback and advices you gave me. After spending last night abusing my poor USB testing out live demos of most os you guys mentioned I'm going to settle up with fedora. Thanks everyone
I use Linux as my operating system," I state proudly to the unkempt, bearded man. He swivels around in his desk chair with a devilish gleam in his eyes, ready to mansplain with extreme precision. "Actually", he says with a grin, "Linux is just the kernel. You use GNU+Linux!' I don't miss a beat and reply with a smirk, "I use Alpine, a distro that doesn't include the GNU coreutils, or any other GNU code. It's Linux, but it's not GNU+Linux."
The smile quickly drops from the man's face. His body begins convulsing and he foams at the mouth and drops to the floor with a sickly thud. As he writhes around he screams "I-IT WAS COMPILED WITH GCC! THAT MEANS IT'S STILL GNU!" Coolly, I reply "If windows was compiled with gcc, would that make it GNU?" I interrupt his response with "-and work is being made on the kernel to make it more compiler-agnostic. Even you were correct, you wont be for long."
With a sickly wheeze, the last of the man's life is ejected from his body. He lies on the floor, cold and limp. I've womansplained him to death.
What are some security improvement ideas that you know of for operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Apple?
Before I consider buying the Pinephone pro as a daily driver, I am wondering if the following apps are available on any one OS. I understand linux to a reasonable degree, but have not coded apps before, so adding them myself isn't going to work well. The apps I use are:
-phone and text and contacts
-settings
-a web browser
-camera
-gallery
-a file explorer
-pdf viewer
-calculator
-notes
-calendar
-clock+alarm
-an MP3 player
Bonus points:
-F-droid apps useable, in particular: organic maps, KeePass XC, and Aegis authenticator
That's all I use. Is there an OS that has these apps available to it?
Is it worth going over to Linux if I hate DRM, spyware, Malware, and the FUCKING ONE DRIVE slowing down my PC?
You install it and boom you have all the apps you need
Need to quickly write a document
Gotta pay for word on Windows
Just open it in the built in Apple office suite
Wanna browse the internet with your favourite search engine
Windows will give you edge with BING FUCKING BING
macos will allow you to set your default and keep using it with what is a pretty decent browser (safari)
Wanna update A small security patch
Windows you gotta restart
Macos just updated in the background
Wanna backup
Windows has restore point which 9/10 doesn't give me exact dates
Time machine is external but is way better allowing you to pick a exact one
Wann find a specific meme you dumped in your memes folder
Windows you have to wait along time or search for it manually
Spotlight quickly gives you results
Wanna find directions to the nearest McDonald's
Search doesn't want you to do that
Spotlight gives you the address
I can keep going on and on Of you are just wanting browse the internet with a no bullshit os with decent support and no ads that is user friendly Macos is for you
I just posted this question on Wallstreetbets and it was taken down. Hmmmm...if this one is taken down, I would like to know WHY, please.
News stated that "Roku TV is the No. 1 selling Smart TV Operating System in U.S" just 2 days ago. Today, Atlantic Inequities decided to start covering ROKU after - I am assuming - not covering them.
They decide that this company's stock price target is some 50 - 60% less valuable than previous price targets stated and the entire market responds and sells off ROKU bringing the price waaayyy down.
Is this not blatant?
I know it's probably not the best idea to put everything on a blockchain, but this has me wondering if an OS attached to a blockchain would be more secure. Even something as simple as getting software updates can be validated to make sure it's being downloaded from the correct source. This could potentially block malware or other malicious attacks on computers/servers. If we have software that lives on a blockchain and can be checked to make sure it's the correct source, it seems like the internet would be safer, right? I have no idea how the code behind the scenes works or if this is even feasible, but considering you need an active internet connection for most OSes to even work, I can't see any problem from a layman point of view.
