Obviously this is one of those things that’s completely subjective, but I wanted to hear your opinions.
Although Neil has undoubtedly had a critically acclaimed career, Dylan is usually thought of as being in a class of his own. Dylan has a set of albums that are talked about in a reverence that no Young album is. Highway 61, Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks, etc.
However, when looking at overall discography, Neil Young has been rock solid throughout his career. He definitely has his lower quality albums, but I think his lows are much more tolerable than Dylan’s lows.
I don’t want to come off as a Dylan hater - I love Dylan and everything he’s done for music. I’m just curious on what you all think about peak vs total output when it comes to 2 of my favorites!
EDIT: I know the “Dylan vs Young” subject has been done to death, but I think this is a more nuanced take on the discussion
