A list of puns related to "Neal Shapiro (equestrian)"
Recently I saw this come up again when Horse & Hound posted about Dani Waldmanβs policy of not giving her horses turnout. I was genuinely surprised at the number of people who were defending not turning out competition horses, and itβs almost got me wondering if Iβm the out of touch one! I would consider regular turnout a necessity under the 5 freedoms (freedom to express natural behaviour) but maybe that isnβt the general consensus anymore?
What are everyoneβs thoughts?

Obviously, to some extent, everyone faces this. However, this is for my friends who face more discrimination because of identity or looks and such.
Edit: I have pretty current stats in the comments in case you want to know but are not someone who faces ableism/racism/transphobia/ect. I'll try to update it!
Edit 2: the fact that there are so many of ya'll who chose 'not at all' makes my heart happy, and excited for the future of this thing we all love. Hopefully some day we can all answer like that, but until then, I love reading your stories and I know how good it feels to let it out. We carry a lot of shit with us, its nice to set it down every once in a while. You guys rock.
Looking for some kind pointers here. Iβm going to have surgery on my lower back and will not be able to sit on a horse for 6-8 weeks. I canβt stand the idea of being away from my buddies or barn for that long so I wanted to ask what everyone did post-surgery to cope. I could probably do light physical work like walking two weeks after but my ability to lift or pull will be piss poor. How did you stay sane and happy during your post-surgery recovery? Thank you for any pointers and greatly appreciated!
Proof: Pinkie's first moment in FiM she sees Twilight and screams. She has been shown to take shifts with Equestrian Pinkie going back and forth through the portal. The Pinkie in Canterlot High was first shown interacting with Equestrian Twilight very physically much like an Earth pony would. She also mentions that she knows Twilight has a twin sister who lives in the city and has a pet dog who looks just like Spike. In Too Many Pinkie Pies one of the Pinkie clones inflates her hoof into a hand. Yet hands were never mentioned in Equestria. In Canterlot High Pinkie is able to take balloons off her dress as well as bounce on them. When Applejack arrives Pinkie is very adamant on getting cider, as she was in Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000. In Friendship Games, Canterlot High Pinkie mentions being "Party Pooped", which was an episode title in FiM, which happened to be a Pinkie episode itself. In Amending Fences, Pinkie has been shown to know Minuette, Minuette had 3 main friends, Twilight, Lemon Hearts, and LYRA HEARTSTRINGS, Lyra was obsessed with human characteristics.

Iβm 22, from florida and my life is currently going downhill and if it gets worse iβm gonna pack up and move to nc. Iβd love to know where to go to find a charming small town with affordable horse properties or at the very least affordable houses with stables to board at close by. I have family in Wilson so itβd be nice to be atleast 1-3 hours driving distance from them and iβd prefer to stay somewhat close to the triangle (1-2 hours) for those days I want to explore the city, thanks for the help!
Iβm currently a student and looking for work I can do on evening/weekends. I have 12+ years experience in riding both western and english disciplines and have showed competitively. Iβm looking to be an exercise rider or someone looking to keep their horse in shape!
TL;DR - I'm nervous for my first lesson in years, which is tomorrow. Confidence boosting tips/advice/encouragement appreciated.
I'm a re-re-re-rider. I'm 30 years old and started riding when I was 8. I've started and stopped riding a few times in my life. From ages 8-10, I rode with a very angry and abusive trainer who made me feel a lot of anxiety about riding. She yelled and screamed constantly, and she pushed very hard and I would have a nasty fall in most lessons. I'm a naturally anxious person anyway, so the whole experience was just not good and unfortunately, now riding can a very anxiety-ridden (hah) experience for me. Once I have my bearings and I am comfortable and trust my horse or just trust my own abilities enough, I love it and feel totally exhilarated and incredibly proud of myself. But getting to that point takes me some time.
I recently started exercising a pony at the same barn where I rode several years ago in my last riding stint. It's a privilege to be trusted to ride this pony and to be allowed the freedom by the barn owner to come ride him as I please. Said pony is rather strong-willed, but I actually think he's a solid match for my skills when I'm in confident rider mode. As a timid re-rider who is still getting her bearings, I can tell he's testing the boundaries with me and trying to get away with things. I push back but I'm just a little nervous right now and I leave the ride frustrated.
Rather than let this get out of hand, I contacted the barn owner (also trainer/instructor) and asked if I can sign up for a lesson with her and get some pointers. I know I absolutely need this. If I want to have a decent working relationship with this pony and allow myself the enjoyment of riding while not letting him bully me and turn into a little monster, I need a professional to give me some refreshers and set me in the right direction.
Despite how much I need it, I am NERVOUS for this. It has been years since I've had an actual lesson. I like the barn owner a lot but she can tend to yell when she's frustrated or if you're not "getting" what she is saying fast enough or reacting fast enough. I'm an adult now, I can absolutely handle it, but it is still a bit triggering for me internally. I keep telling myself--short term pain for long term gain! I want to enjoy riding and in order to do that, I need to ride and handle this horse properly. I was up front with the barn owner about the anxiety I've been feeling, so hopefully she keeps that i
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi y'all! I'm not yet pregnant my husband and I are waiting a bit longer to start trying but my question is, I work in the horse industry as a equine massage therapist and currently in training as a saddle fitter. I also ride and care for horses in my daily life, how on earth will I be able to manage any of that when pregnant? I know I'll have to stop what I'm doing at some point to stay safe and protect the baby but it's my livelihood and I can't the thought of not being able to handle horses for 9 months lol thanks bunches!
Ok, I know it sounds kind of weird but please hear me out.
My child is third generation judoka, ten years old, practicing on formal studio setting since four but informally all the time with dad and gramps (Both black belt judoka).
Recently my child has picked up horse back riding, has been practicing consistently for two years now and their teacher is now inviting them to more experienced technique, more daring things, of course within reason, nothing rodeo like or such.
The teacher was showing my child, just this past weekend, the emergency dismount move where, as the name says, the rider has to practice and master to get off the animal in an emergency.
This technique sometimes requires tuck and roll like judoka do because the horse is moving, you know, to dissipate energy and not hurt oneself. Also, if the horse refuses to jump and comes to a halt throwing the rider in the air, the technique looks very similar to ukemi.
Anyone having experience with this? Will ukemi help for a fall that high? TIA
I'm learning to ride and yesterday I had the most painful ride of my life. Any seated trot, or transitioning to/from trot especially canter. Yes, it's exactly what you're thinking.
My trainer has no solutions, being female.
What's your solution?
They fly coach!
The new update has sent me for a loop, most guides only take vanilla for account when it comes to combat width, anyone here see what works and what doesn't?

Hey all! I realize this is a somewhat touristy question and might be better suited in the visitors group, but as Iβm looking for honest options I thought real islanders may have the inside scoop.
Iβm a professional equestrian, I breed, train and compete competitively and I would love to be able to ride a horse on the beach during my trip in April- but I donβt want to contribute to any company with horses who are overworked, showing obvious discomfort in terms of saddle sores, improper care (hoof, diet, training g) etc. and was hoping someone may have a recommendation for either a reputable company or a private individual who I could pay who might make this possible. More than happy to show references of my experience as I know first hand how much people love to embellish their horse proficiency.
Thanks in advance and I understand and apologize if this is flagged and removed.
Source: I work with a board member, embarrassment abound, sounds like some decisions have already been made.
