Hello,
I am a big fan of Forest for the Trees. I've been on the search the last month collecting every release they put out (which is mainly 1 full-length album in 1997 and a couple singles thereafter).
Very recently some great person uploaded every track released by them (officially) and I was greeted with 1 unheard track which originated from a 2001 Dreamworks Records CD Sampler. I loved it! Doing some digging, the CD Sampler showed that the track 'Jellyfish' was from an upcoming album by Forest for the Trees.
Further research shows that this album was seemingly fully recorded...but never released...
Soon after, Dreamworks' business model changed- if you're thinking Dreamworks sounds familiar you're right - they went more into the movie business and their music division was scrapped. Apparently with the full second FFTT album shelved permanently.
This is where the story seems to have ended...until December 2020(!)
During my desperate search a few weeks ago for ANY further info, I find a listing on this site: https://www.discogs.com/release/16317414-Forest-For-The-Trees-The-Forest-For-The-Trees
This shows not only the full 6-Track listing with all titles (including the track 'Jellyfish'), but ALSO the runtime of each song AND DISC ART(?!) This disc art is very similar to other of Dreamworks Records' Sample/Internal versions of other FFTT releases and seems...awful genuine.
I would LOVE to get more info and work towards an actual release of this album. I seriously doubt Dreamworks is holding onto this for the right moment to bring it back. I think investigation might be the only way the world gets to hear this album.
RBI...perhaps your skills can find the end to this path better than me, because currently I'm a bit.......lost in the forest.......
(Sorry couldn't help it)
thank you! midnite vultures is my fav beck album and I want to see some more newer or older stuff with that⦠funky and electronic feel x
Beck has so many incredible albums. Iβm curious to see what you all would say if you could only listen to one album from this prodigious music maker.
At the end of this poll I'm going to make a final poll between the winners of the 2010's, 2000's and 90's polls. (If you're wondering about Golden Feelings, reddit has a limit on the amount of options you can have in one poll)

Has anybody ever identified this Ken person at all? If so, let me know! Thanks!
I haven't heard a few of his older albums, but from what I have heard, my ranking would look something like this:
I haven't listened to all of the new album yet, so I can't rank it. Mellow Gold has a lot of great tracks, but a few of them are just a little too young and angry for me. Modern Guilt and The Information are pretty good, but they suffer from a few kind of meh tracks that weigh them down, and aside from crazy stuff like Horrible Fanfare/Landslide/Exoskeleton and Chemtrails they don't have any super memorable tracks that you might see with the more powerful albums like Midnite Vultures, Colors, and Sea Change.
I'm eager to hear how you guys rank the albums, though. I know the general opinion is that his older stuff tends to be better, so maybe I can get some good recommendations on where to root around his backlog next.
Hey all, Iβm a new Beck fan who learned about him from Cage the Elephantβs new song they did together. Wow. Iβve heard Odelay and Midnite Vultures so far and they were amazing. Iβm going on a road trip today and want to hear another one of his albums. Iβm wondering, which album would go well with a road trip? Thanks for any suggestions.
#424 Beck- Odelay
Beck is one of my favorite musical artists of the last 30 years. I believe he is vastly underrated. Ever since I heard the opening guitars of βLoserβ I have been a fan. His second album Odelay is a mishmash of 60βs folk,80βs hip hop beat, and 90βs alternative alternative attitude. Beckβs vocal stylings mixed with The Dust Brothers production are a match made in heaven.Β βDevilβs Haircutβ β The New Pollutionβ and βWhereβs It Atβ are all 90βs classics. βJack Assβ is a great folksy song. Even the deep cuts are great on here. βNovacaineβ βSissyneckβ and βHot Waxβ pushed the boundaries of production and songwriting. The Dust Brothers were so innovative to me they were one of the first superstar producing teams. This abum and The Beastie Boys Paul Boutique are their masterpieces.Β In one of the biggest snubs of the 2020 lists they dropped Odelay down 118 spots?Β This album should Β have moved up spots rather than down. It's more influential now then it was 8 years ago.
