A list of puns related to "Munster Irish"
Hi!
Feeling very out of place on such a thread, and wondering if this is even the right place to be posting as such
Anyways I speak English with a heavy Irish accent ( English is my first language but I have a better understanding of Irish, and the English that I speak is through Irish, if anyone even remotely understands what I am trying to get at, fair play ) making my speaking of any other language sound downright stupid. To keep the brain ticking and give me something to be doing, I'd like to learn another language, but to my knowledge I don't think that there is another language with a similar accent ? I understand there probably aren't many Irish speakers anseo, but maybe there is someobody who could help me all the still ?? Thanks :)
Or is that just a coincidence?
I am interested in the Munster dialect so I have been using Teach Yourself Irish as a resource. I'm noticing that this book teaches alternate absolute forms for a few common irregular verbs:
absolute chΓm vs. dependent feicim (abs/dep in standard)
absolute gheibim vs. dependent faighim (abs/dep in standard)
also the opposite, with dependent abraim for deirim
Just curious whether these forms are still commonly used in the south, or just seen in older literature, etc.
