Hi All!
So I managed to find a workaround for using this bridge when you use TM:PE or when you noticed that the safety bars are always down. So what I did was use TM:PE to change the speed limit on the bridge to 25MPH to make sure cars will stop on the bridge. Then I use the Move-It mod and move the bridge up or down a bit with the PgUp or PgDn keys. When you do that, you should see the safety bars raise, and it should be working. So whenever you work on any part of your city with TM:PE and notice that the bridge isn't working how it is supposed to, just try my workaround.

Could a civilization with similar technology as the ancient Greeks (and no magic) construct drawbridges and/or bascule bridges across a river that’s about a mile wide. The city is very rich so costs don’t matter that much (unless it’s completely unaffordable). A second, but less important question, could they construct a swing bridge? My first feeling was no, but I’m not sure.
Edit: sorry the river is 1 mile wide at the coast, in the city it’s somewhere around 400~500m wide. I’ve no idea how I made that mistake, prob. Just mixed up my notes
I actually enjoy boats and trains and have ever since I was a little kid so I don't mind the wait if it was only like 5 to 15 minutes.
Even if I was waiting at the crossing when the train just got there and say it was a long one, or if the bridge was going up when you just got to it for a large ship to pass underneath.
It irritates alot of people especially if they just miss it or are in a hurry.
I usually plan in advance and I have an app that accurately tells me when the bridges go up well over an hour in advance. So I avoid most of those situations
The trains in our area are usually short line and half the time it's like a 30 second wait. If there long like two minutes tops.
Id really like to see a couple of roped bridges that allow you to pull them up and down when you dont need access to your base. This will be countered soon anyway (trebouchet) but adds a layer of defence. A 1x2 and 2x3 would be awesome.
I get what clutches do, they engage and disengage a drive shaft, but why are they used? For example, why would I need to use a clutch in a bascule bridge design?
In my college class we're learning the mechanics of a clutch, but they go into little detail about it's applications. It's use in a car transmission makes more sense to me as the clutch is disengaged to stop the transfer of torque while changing gears.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
