A list of puns related to "Moto X Play"
Hi there. I was using lineage in this device a month ago, then i have had to fix it (hardware issue) and now after last upgrade it doesn't detect sim cards. any clue to fix it or report it? i have managed to downgrade to 20210207 and it detects it now, but i'm not sure about how to be safe in future upgrades
EDIT: reported the issue in gitlab and the solution is to download and flash last recovery img and then perform the upgrade through sdb: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/3137
,up to version lineage-17.1-20201220-nightly-lux-signed I could install updates for my moto X Play without problems. Since lineage-17.1-20201227-nightly-lux-signed after trying to reboot it ends on TWRP recovery.
In Recovery mode shows the following message: E:Failed to bind mount /mnt/staging/emulated/media/0 to /storage/emulated : No such file or directory
E:Emulated failed to bind mount /mnt/staging/emulated/media/0 on /storage/emulated
No such file or directory
If necessary logcat file is available.
I installed lineage OS 17.1 to get android 10, but whenever I use a custom rom or a 3rd party camera app, the auto focus is terrible. I know my phone does not support camera2 API, so what is the best I can do?

The Moto X Play also doesn't have the chop chop action.
It's on Android 5.1.1.
My little sister got a hand me down phone and realy wanted to play pokemon go because the phone had data but the game won't load i have tried turning off the camera permissions but it still won't load
I have my Moto X Play (XT 1562) since September 2015. The past few months, it became a bit less reliable than it used to be. It now often completly shuts down when battery hits 25% and I open any app.
It safely shuts down the phone, and when I turn it on again the battery is at 25%. Sometimes when opening an app it goes straight into safe shutdown again, sometimes I can just keep using it.
Is this a fault within Android? Or my battery managing settings that I am not aware of? Or is my battery just dying and the phone is going to require replacement?
I hope you guys can help me out. Google has not been my friend at all.
I've had the phone unplugged from about 8:30am to 8:30pm and am still around 50%. It destroys my old G2 in terms of battery life. Here's a few screenshots http://m.imgur.com/a/6tdvm
Edit: SOT at 7hr30min with 9% left but I'm off too bed now. That was with some gaming as well (hearthstone) so I'm pretty impressed.
I'm part of Motorola's Motomakers, I was lucky enough to be invited to a secret event last week in Canada where I got the chance to play with the Moto X Play for about an hour and learn pretty much everything about it! AMA you want to know about the device!
Europe (Spain)
Budget about 200β¬ (the less the better ofc), is it possible to get an equal or better phone than the Moto X Play with that budget(1080 screen, good battery, not laggy)?
The whole advertisement about smoothly switching towers is a load of hooey. The phone locks up for 30 seconds or longer when loading simple apps like the mcdonalds app. I am paying almost 200 a month for service that is constantly stalling whenever it has to switch towers. I haven't been able to receive SMS since I got the phone and FI tech support is terrible. Every time I call they don't know who I am and can't seem to read in the notes what is going on. All they do is try to get you off the phone so it's no longer their problem. Truly terrible service. How can it be so hard to get texting to work.
so i have a moto g play 2021 and i have been trying to root it for a few days now and i have tried various one tap root apps and none have worked i have tried installing twrp and using supersu and but twrp does not support my device and neither do various other recovery mods. i have also tried using some methods that require a pc. i can unlock the boot loader and load a magisk flash but the problem is that it will end up wiping my device when i attempt to unlock the bootloader. THE ONLY way that i think i can root my phone is by making a custom twrp port and lading that to my phone but i do not understand the documentation provided from the twrp website so if someone where to be able to help me figure out how to make a custom twrp i can then install supersu (edit bot said something so i am going to use magisk instead) and enjoy my rooted phone along with adding another supported device for twrp.
tldr i have tried almost every thing that does not wipe my device and there is just one way that should work but i dont know how to do it.

After the long wait and Google releasing Android Oreo, Moto X Play is finally starting to receive the Nougat update https://imgur.com/a/qzPkt. A lot of Indian users on Twitter are also reporting the same, so I'm pretty sure this is not another round of soak testing.
Like the title says, I'm looking into upgrading from my 2014 Moto X because the battery is beyond atrocious and it's gotten pretty laggy. I held on to the 2014 X because at least for a bit it seemed like there weren't really any options with the Active Display as well as AMOLED screen, both of which are dead useful. I don't use my phone for any crazy intensive apps/games, and definitely want to get really good battery life. As might also be clear from the fact that I'm still using the 2014 Moto X, I'm looking for a phone that'll be able to be used for a few years and still have decent performance. I also don't want a phone that feels cheap and plasticey either. I'm looking for a GSM unlocked (or easily unlockable) phone to use on Mint Mobile, and to maybe be able to use in SE Asia with a SIM from out there. After looking around a bit, the Z2 line has caught my interest. It looks like both can be found for around the same price point currently (hoping to spend no more than $200 for a new phone), so which would be better? Some specific questions:
What's the difference between the AMOLED screen on the Play vs the POLED screen on the Force?
Is the Force really prone to scratching like I've been reading? I've read conflicting things on if a screen protector fixes that not.
From what I read both have good battery life, and the moto mods can easily extend battery without lugging around a separate pack or anything. But it seems the jury is still kind of out regarding if the mods trap heat and kill the battery of the actual phones quicker? Is this still the case?
I'm coming from a phone that uses the headphone jack, not a USB C port. I know that the Force comes with an adapter so presumably it shouldn't really be an issue. Can anyone who's been dedicated using headphone jacks like me give thoughts on if the adapter gets annoying to use?
Thanks in advance for everyone's insight! I haven't bought a phone in a good while and want to make sure I make a good choice.
The thing is that the phone does not want to turn on, it constantly goes back to the Motorola logo and does not stop restarting until it runs out of battery. I looked for this on Google but all the videos that show how to fix it use the recovery mode or fastboot mode, but this phone's volume down button is broken and does not work, so I can't enter the fastboot mode. If someone can help please answer. Thanks.
Right now /r/motoxplay is pretty dead. The xda forum was also dead until recently, when a marshmallow soak test went live in Brazil. The Droid Maxx 2, which is Verizon's name for the Moto X Play, is now on the market.
This is an easy-to-root, manufacturer-provided bootloader unlocked device, with a 3630 mAh battery, a 5.5 inch 1080p display, great camera, and a nearly-stock Android experience.
It has an SD card slot, and an average heavy-use day for me gives me 6 hours SOT at 50% brightness and 1.5 hours talk time.
Before marshmallow it was dog-slow. My theory is that its chipset is designed to only do well with heavily parallelism, but what the hell do I know. The Antutu benchmark went up to ~45,000 after marshmallow.
And the kicker: I bought a brand new, in box device on Kijiji for $300... CANADIAN.
For those of us who want a decent Android experience that can be used with one hand, and last all day, why isn't this the only phone worth considering? No, I don't work for Motorola (Lenovo).
I just received an update notification for Android 6.0 Marshmallow on my Motorola Moto X Play(India).

Edit1 : It Just Marshmallow, S'More to Love :D
I Recently bought a Moto X Play and Have used it for last 14 Days. I must say I come out Very Impressed and worried about the lack of its popularity.. So I have written a review of Sorts below and also ready if someone wants to AMA about anything of the Device
The Positives:
The Motorola Add Ons: Motorola Take a Bow From Me, They know how to do Software.. I was initially keeping this further down in The review as Many in this subreddit know about them and can explain their strengths better than me... But after using the device longer I realised they just make such a big part of my experience that they had to be at the top..
Moto Display: It is one of the best thing about this phone (even Surpassing the great Battery Life) pick it up from the table or from your pocket, screen turns on and helps you quickly access your missed notifications. What others don't mention is that It also prevents wear of Power Button. (I heard Phones even bricking due to weared out/faulty Power button)
Moto Voice: I can wake up my phone even while screen is turned off, By Just Saying "OK JARVIS" :D , You can set it to anything even Whistle :) I was not a person who did a lot of voice actions before this phone, Shoutout to Google Now: It takes even fairly complex commands like "Remind me to pay my airtel bill on 10th of Every Month"..
Note: Google Now Search also works when phone is locked with a pin, pattern which is thoughtful
Size: In Hand Feel is AWESOME. Bezels are minimal: Its almost exactly as tall as Nexus 5X and Lg G4.. When i felt it first I couldn't believe How thin it felt.. Its thinner at the sides and fatter in the middle, which is perfect for gripping it. This fact is especially important considering its a 5.5 inch phone though This great grips makes it easier to do most operations with 1 Hand and I have fairly regular hands. I attribute this to the confidence the grips provides me to adjust my hand position on phone
Battery: It has a 3630mah battery, which gives you enough juice to last 1 day Now matter How heavily (not literally but you get the meaning) you use it. Usually it lasts for more than a day and half for me. I mostly use emails, skype, whatsapp, snapchat and facebook, I play games too like Clash of Clans.
Micro SD Card is There
It also has NFC which the Supposedly Flagship Killer :cough: OnePlus 2 :cough: lacks
Camera: Not the
When I connect the charging Cable the display is turned on and it is showing as charging for a second and then the display is going off and the led beside the front camera is turning on. Please suggest me some ways to fix the issue.
BTW, I bought an Honor 7X which is awesome. I donno if my motox is going to work or not, not willing to spend any money on it as I have used it for 2 and half years. Rooted it ! installed custom roms and mods.. Lol.. Had fun. But all things good has an end. Bye Bye Moto X Play. You will be remembered. :(
