We will not from the helm to sit and weep,
But keep our course, though the rough wind say no,
From shelves and rocks that threaten us with wreck.
As good to chide the waves as speak them fair

Year in Review
A year, after all, is simply a collection of days. And therefore the story of this year is largely told in the record of past twelve months.
At the beginning of the year the portfolio goal was reset to provide a target goal for passive income equivalent to $90,500 per year.
At the same time, three essential pre-conditions were set for any movement from my current work arrangements.
These were:
reaching the overall portfolio target of $2.85 million;
achieving a minimum equity portfolio target of $1.93 million; and
a cash reserve of at least one year of normal expenditure.
Rapidly, in fact by March, the first of these conditions were met.
The second remains a little distance away β perhaps 2 to 18 months away should equity markets remain positive, perhaps much longer if any significant equity drawdowns occur.
The cash reserve has been started, but it is not yet near completion. At present, it sits at around $17,000 compared to the average annual spending of about $84,000 since 2013.
The broad progress made against the financial benchmarks through this year is summarised below.
Progress against FI measures through 2021
Measure Portfolio All Assets
Portfolio objective β $2,585,000 (or $90,500 pa) 88%β114% 105%β146%
Total average expenses (2013-present) β $83,800 pa 93%β123% 112%β157%
Target equity holding in portfolio 75%β95% N/A
Stepping back to look at the overall portfolio performance, this year has been unlike any other on the journey.
The overall portfolio has increased by $680,000 β making the year just passed the most significant expansion in dollar terms of the entire record.

Studying the course of the voyage
The pattern of this fifth year of the voyage has been distinctly different to any other. Looking back, there is a dual sense of consistency, and radical discontinuity.
The sense of consistency has come from the continued strong growth in equity markets and the continued regular investment into equity-based exchange traded funds. Strong equity returns have contributed to the equity component of the portfolio increasing by over $385,000.
In turn, this has made it the strongest year on record for the expansion of the equity portfoli

Current Cards:
FICO: 780 Income: $250K
Monthly spending:
Purpose: To maximize pure cashback with the goal of redeeming for AirBnB or tickets to Disney
With the exception of specific 5% cashback category cards for Walmart and Amazon, we've been using Alliant (2.5% cashback on everything) as our catch-all. But we want to maximize our cashback and are open to carrying a few more cards. So here is my plan for future spending. Any other cards I should consider?

Hey all!
I'm going to place a Death and Floral order but wasn't sure I'd like the scent of the month. This month it's called "Cosmic Crisis"-Hot, smokey space atmosphere; lab-created flowers; the βpopβ of the last minutes of the sun.
Anybody tried this one or know what those notes might smell like together? Thank you <3

QUICK TIP
Only apply for the credit you need.
Although having more credit than you use can help your score, applying for too many new lines of credit at once can hurt it.
I'm really interested about different styles of review pages, so it would be awesome when some of you could write how you review.

Our latest review of recently listed cryptocurrencies yielded a sum total of five cryptocurrencies worthy of closer attention with only one which got our juices flowing. However if all we get from this long arduous monthly task is one good project, it is a job well done.
However, as well as discovering moonshots, if we are lucky, we also get a feel for the market, in particular the emerging trends.
This month saw a mixture of mainly DeFi, gaming and memecoins coming to the market. It was also noticeable that many project founders have developed a new level of greed with valuations for new ideas commanding in some cases billion dollar price tags. BitUp, zkTube and FODL led the way with valuations reaching up to $49 trillion (fully diluted) in the case of BitUp.We trust investors will steer clear from this garbage. We would also hope they would steer clear from 99.9% of the new projects coming to market. There is a definite lack of imagination from cryptocurrency founders. However, that makes our job somewhat easier as it is relatively quick to weed out the crap.
The gems kind of stare back at you and give you a little wink, βyou found me!β
A feeling of disappointment
Two standout new listings this month which are worth talking about are NFT Tech and SatoshiStreetBets.
NFT Tech was a project we have been excitedly waiting for for some time. It talked about offering the opportunity to be able to stake your NFTs, a concept in its infancy. However NFTTβs listing was a let down for two reasons. Firstly there was no mention of this new staking facility and secondly its valuation was a hefty $38 million for just another NFT platform.
Then there was the case of the Reddit forum operator SatoshiStreetBets. This is one of the leading crypto sub Reddits (i.e. channels or threads) with nearly 500,000 followers. Itβs new coin was attributed a value of $25 million and was off to the races. Should you be off to the races with SSB? Only at a much reduced valuation.
A caveat
One caveat to the term βnewly listedβ. A new listing does not necessarily mean the project is totally n
