The in-retrospect eerie quiet over the assassination continues across Europe. It is important to rememeber that anarchist, and separatist movements of many stripes engaged in what we now call terrorism during these years. At this point, the events in Sarajevo were just seen as more of the same. President McKinley had been shot dead by an anarchist in 1901. Umberto I of Italy had been killed by an anarchist in 1900. Russian Prime Minister Pyotr Ptolypin was shot dead in 1911 by a 'leftist'. David Lloyd George (then Chancellor of the Exchecher)'s house was burned in 1913 by the WSPC, a suffragette organization. Another WSPC member threw a hatchet at Prime Minister Herbert Asquith in 1912.
Russia and Serbia refuse to investigate governmental links to the assassins in Sarjevo.
July 2, 1914 (Thursday)
Germany announces that the Kaiser will not attend Ferdinand's funeral. He had hoped to use the funeral as an informal peace conference, but due to farcical court machinations in Vienna, foreign royalty was disinvited from the funeral.
Bosnia and Herzegovina are placed under martial law.
July 3, 1914 (Friday)
AH issues decree that all Serbian subjects (that is, citizens of
Serbia) must leave Bosnia at once.
July 4, 1914 (Saturday)
Funeral of Archduke Ferdinand. Emperor Franz Joseph's chamberlain ('Obersthofmeister') nursed a burning hatred for Franz Ferdinand and Sophie, and saw to it (with the Emperor's connivance) that the funeral was immediate-family only. Officers were pointedly not allowed to salute the funeral train as it passed, and the burial took place at Artstetten Castle, rather at the Imperial Crypt. Since heads of state were not even allowed to attend (and find some last-minute diplomatic compromise) perhaps the last chance to defuse the coming war with a high-level meeting of rulers was thrown away because of the pettiness of one man.
July 5, 1914
Germany, in the person of Kaiser William II, gives assurances of support to Austria in the event of war with Serbia (and with the understanding that this will also entail war with Russia) at a war council at Potsdam attended by an envoy from AH. This is later described as the "blank check" that assured that a general war would follow an AH attack on Serbia. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

Part 2- The beginning of the end
Western Front
Anyways, the start of the war on this front is almost the same in our timeline. French troops push into Germany, but are pushed back to the Rhineland. Both sides start trench warfare which lasts for an entire year.
Eastern Front and Southern Front
This is where it gets interesting. The Estonians and Finnish push into Russian land, hoping to take St. Petersburg. And take it they did, after 5 months in the war a joint Estonian-Finnish force were able to breach into the city. This dealt a huge blow to the support of the monarch, with people doubting his power. Communist groups start to form. Also, the ottomans were able to take the causcus in the south and started to push in. This convinced Bulgaria to join the Reichpakt and the Bulgarian navy landed in Crimea hoping to take Ukraine and push into Austria-Hungary.
Southern Front
Though with stiff resistance, serbo-Montenegrin-austro-Hungarian troops took the city of Sarajevo 7 months into the war and forced the bosniaks to capitulate. Now the Serbians and Montenegrins started to regroup their army and retake north Macedonia which was taken by the Bulgarians. Trench warefare also starts in the Serbo - Macedonian border. France, hoping to take the Bulgarians and ottomans out of the war convinced Greece to join the Entente in exchange for its Greek claims in anatolia. Taken by surprise, Greek troops managed to take the entire Albanian region which was weakly defended in just a month. They linked up with the serbo-montenegrin troops and started to push into n. Macedonia.
Northern Front
Capitalizing on the weakness of the Danes, the Germans launch a massive offensive against Denmark. They manage to capture the mainland in a month, but the Danes retreat to the isles. The Germans, trying to weaken the danish morale launch a bombing against Danish cities.
Back to the western front
In 1915, German troops poured into Belgium, directly violating the neutrality in Belgium. The outcome is the same in our timeline: UK and Portugal join the war on the Entente side. However, the Germans are able to breach the French defenses and March into the Rhineland, Normandy and northern france. The French start planning on a new line of
