A list of puns related to "Montane grasslands and shrublands"
While walking along Olson Lake in Rock Cut State Park, northern Illinois, today we heard a single call we couldn`t identify. It was three harsh calls or short rattles in a row. The bird was in a shrubline on the edge of prairieland. We saw a Field Sparrow in the same area but I dont know of them calling like that. My first thought was Chat, but after listening to it this call was harsher than that but similar. Any suggestions or ideas what it could have been?
Despite their sometimes unassuming appearance, they represent some of the most biodiverse regions in the planet.
Like The fynbos in southafrica, which can go toe to toe with the Amazon jungle in number of species per kmΒ².
Spain has 8 different mediterranean ecorregions. This makes It the second country with most only after Australia (a country 14 times Its size)
Furthermore three of them are only found in Spain (three are shared with Portugal and one each with France and morrocco)
This far i've covered in my posts three ecorregions: the hardwood forests of the Canaries, the Iberian conifer forests and the Iberian sclerophyllous forests. All unique to the peninsula and isles.
This week i'll present a new one with a very particular example which resists the common mediterranean stereotype. Let's write about one of the rainiest regions in Spain ;)
I understand the problem with monocultures, but aren't the original grasslands in this case also essentially mono in nature? Is there something natural grassland does to the land that crops such as wheat don't? I'm relatively new in trying to understand this, so please excuse me if this seems obvious.
