Oyarzabal now finds himself in the same side as Silva, a player he watched from the stands as a youngster

The Real Sociedad winger, who was given his debut by David Moyes, talks to Paul Hirst about playing with David Silva and having the biggest feet in La Liga.
Despite being only 23 years old, Mikel Oyarzabal has achieved a lot in his career. He is captain of his boyhood club Real Sociedad, for whom he has played more than 200 times, and is one of the top scorers in La Liga this season, with a better goals-per-minute ratio than Karim Benzema, the Real Madrid No 9.
Oyarzabal has 11 Spain caps, was part of the under-21 side who won the last European Championship in 2019 and is widely regarded as one of the most promising wingers the country has produced in recent years.
But whenever he meets someone new, conversation almost always turns to another topic: the size of his feet. Despite being only 5ft 9in, Oyarzabal wears size 13 shoes.
βYes, thatβs true. I have the biggest boots in La Liga,β Oyarzabal says with a chuckle. βA lot of people comment about that. People are certainly curious about it, but at the end of the day you get used to it. Iβve had big feet since I was very young.β
The Spanish word βpatosoβ (clumsy) is sometimes used to describe players who have giant feet, but that is certainly not apt in the case of Oyarzabal, who was once nicknamed βBigfootβ in the Real Sociedad academy.
Oyarzabal is a skilful, fleet-footed left winger who is hoping to put Manchester Unitedβs Europa League hopes in jeopardy tomorrow when they play Sociedad in the first leg of their last-32 tie in Turin, which is hosting the match because of Covid restrictions in Spain.
He has scored ten goals and set up four more in an impressive season for La Real, who were top of La Liga after ten games but have since dropped to fifth.
The Basque winger has not missed any of the 18 penalties he has taken throughout his career and has a similar technique to that of Bruno Fernandes, who skips just before striking the ball.
βIβm a player who likes to cause damage,β Oyarzabal says. βMy game is a bit of a mixture. I can score goals, run quickly down the wing or combine with my team-mates. I put a lot of work in when it comes to the penalties.β
