A list of puns related to "Miami Vice (film)"
Mann is one of my favorite directors. His films are gritty, stylized yet still have a feel of intensity and realism to them. Does anyone have any books that fill these shoes well?
This show needs to be taken away from Bill. This is utterly ridiculous.
The two masterpieces that comes to mind are 1986 'Manhunter' directed by Michael Mann and 1985 'To Live and Die in L.A.' directed by William Friedkin.
Thank you in advance for any response.
EDIT: Thank you everybody for all your replies, what a subreddit, gotta love it!
Just wondering

Started watching the show recently because I like the 80s aesthetic of Scarface, GTA Vice City and music from that era, or new music that has an 80s sound, like The Weeknd. I'm at season 1, episode 7 and I enjoy it so far. I mainly like the music, cinematography, acting and the stories are pretty good. As someone who only watched TV shows made after the 90s, I can say that the show holds up.
However, I've read some reviews that say the show suffers a drop in quality after season 2 or season 3. Is the drop in quality very bad ? Is the show still good/watchable/enjoyable after season 2/3 ?
One of my favorite shows of all time is The Sopranos. As i watch Miami Vice i keep thinking, how would Miami Vice look like if it was filmed just like The Sopranos? Deep stories which span over whole seasons, a much more detailed look into the lives of Crockett, Tubbs and other characters etc
What do you guys have to say?
On account of the cinematography, themes, direction, pace of plot and intrigue/thriller elements, musical score, etc.
Never seen the original show, but being a big fan of Heat, I wanted to give this a shot since it was directed by Michael Mann.
And I enjoyed it! While itβs a blockbuster movie, it has this cult film appeal that I liked. The cinematography was amazing, and no one can make a city look better on film than Mann. I liked the melancholy mood that is synonymous with other Mann movies, and I thought the ending was very well done. Itβs a shame that it isnβt as highly-regarded as it should have been.
After listening to The Rewatchables I don't think anything will be the same. Denzel lost a role to Philip Michael Thomas? Shocked doesn't even begin to cover how I feel. It may be the most interesting bit of information I've ever gotten from the podcast.
FULL MONOLOGUE
It all happened right here. Mike Orgel was off duty. According to the report, some guy on angel dust was waving a 12 gauge shotgun, around right here. Orgel didnβt call for backup, nothinβ. Just walks right in, gets both of the barrels right in the chest.
It was suicide. Course thatβs not the way they wrote it up.
Me and Mike, and believe it or not, Evan Freed were all tight. There was a time⦠the three of us, did some serious hell-raising. We all went through the academy together like, three musketeers. And then we hit the streets. Green as hell. That was a long time ago.
Got assigned to do a shake down of these dance joints. Dealinβ poppers. Mike wanted off the gig, no big deal.
Turns out they were a couple of gay bars. So one day, Evan starts razzinβ him. Sayinβ stuff like β Mike would be afraid someone would recognize him. Then he went and told us the truth. Somebody would recognize him.
At the time, I didnβt know how to handle it. Hell, I couldnβt say anything. Evan really freaked. All of a sudden it was faggot this, and faggot that. And then he put in for a transfer. What could Mike do? The next day they shoved the desk at him, started looking at ways to dump him. I didnβt stick up for him. He was my friend. I failed. I couldnβt find a way to handle it. I DIDNβT DO ANYTHING about it.
I don't know.
You know somethin' Tubbs. You ain't half bad.
Who Am I?
Iβm Sonny Crockett, veteran Miami Vice Detective. Charming, loyal, a no-nonsense straight-shooter type. Can be hardheaded, but also have blinders on in judgment when it comes to the personal. As a Vice Detective, the stakes are extremely high. To have success in the field, I have to keep my cover as drug runner "Sonny Burnett", and the facade that I am well-financed (for example, I drive a Ferrari and have my own sailboat; funded by the department of course, as I'm on a state salary) to ingratiate myself with extremely dangerous local and international criminals (there is an estimate from my time that roughly 80+% of illegal drugs smuggled into the US went through Miami) looking to buy or sell from me. If my cover is blown, I am likely dead. The pressure can push me to my limit at times. In this instance of keeping my cool, it involves confronting an old colleague, Evan Freed, who I had a falling out with after our friend was murdered.
