A list of puns related to "Melinda Dillon"
A handful of us used to watch a movie called A Christmas Story (1983), and this movie would show every Christmas on some TV channels. Actress Melinda Dillon who turned 80 today, would have a role as Ralphie's mother in that movie. So, I thought maybe I'd celebrate her 80th birthday by making a post about this.
Sometimes actors and actresses who have roles in Christmas movies have their actual birthdates closer to Halloween.

The best scenes in The Prince of Tides happen to be the ones focused on the flashbacks, the abusive atmosphere of the family and the secret. Kate Nelligan is excellent and she deserved her nomination, playing someone who starts out as loving and gradually becomes the one responsible for ruining her kids' lives.
While the film is set in the past, it works, in the present, it stumbles. The bland romance between Streisand's psychiatrist and Nick Nolte's lead is forced, corny and seems like something from a Hallmark Movie Channel as opposed to a Best Picture nominee and Streisand isn't shy of making her narcisism dominate the set, from the vaseline drenched cinematography whenever the camera is on her as well as her turning her character more glamorous than she should. I'm amazes she didn't change the ending from the book to maintain her ego. And I know many people liked Nick Nolte but I just found too over the top and forced. Even his crying scene was unintentionally funny and that's supposed to be a heartbreaking moment. And don't get me started on Babs' son getting a role as a rebellious teen getting lessons on how to be a man (was mamma throwing shade?).
It's also sad this movie had an amazing supporting cast (George Carlin, Melinda Dillon, Blythe Danner) and they're barely in it. Blythe Danner looked gorgeous in this movie, wish she was in it more. Has more chemistry with Nick Nolte than Nick having sex with Babs in the corridor.
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

I am back. Sorry I disappeared, I got super busy during August. Itβs a shameβ¦ had I kept up with my reviews, today (September 9) would have been the day to hit 100 if I wanted to beat u/Ethan_Jones1234 βs record. I have watched a good number of movies over the past month while Iβve been absent from this sub, but for mine and everybody elseβs sake, Iβve narrowed down my commentaries only to the most essential films I saw, the ones I have the most to say about and hopefully the ones that are most fun to read about.
Boogie Nights (1997) dir. Paul Thomas Anderson
IMDb Page β 7.9 β 155m β English / USA
Movie #41 - 7/26/21 β Watched on Netflix
The best character drama about pornographers I will probably ever see, this Paul Thomas Anderson joint rightfully made his career what it is now. This is a wonderful movie. Much more lighthearted than There Will Be Blood, the only film of his I had seen before this, though that is not to say this picture doesnβt have itβs own darker moments β one scene in particular was especially impactful given the sudden calculated shift in tone.
Acting-wise, a ton to appreciate here. I think this is inarguably Markie-Markβs best role (The Departed might be a close second). Burt Reynolds as the frank, no nonsense pornographer is no doubt one of his own best performances, too. He brings such charming realism to a role that would have been very easy to turn into a stereotype, but he stays grounded and incredibly likable the whole time. The remaining ensemble of John C. Reilly, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, Nicole Parker, and Don Cheadle are all at the peak of their game here. I think it is very well-shot, with one kind of famous long-take in the middle of the film being very impressive. The film is colorful and energetic, and I love the soundtrack. The humor almost always lands. Thereβs just so little to complain about here.
I really liked this.
My rating - 8.25/10
Magnolia (1999) dir. Paul Thomas Anderson
IMDb Page β 8.0 β 188m β English / USA
Movie #42 - 7/27/21 β Watched on DVD (Available on Netflix)
I am willing to admit that this movie will not appeal to everyone. I am not even sure that itβs as good as my brain is telling me it is. it kind of reminds me a little bit of Donnie Darko (in terms of tone, definitely not in plot) and I know that movie is pretty hit or miss for peopl
