A list of puns related to "Masters of True Crime"
For the life of me, I cannot find it again!! Iβm sure itβs somewhere quite obvious, and Iβm probably being particularly incompetent.... but would someone please be so kind as to help me find it again?
the SOAT crew tries to figure out why our society loves true crime. lauretto discovers his interest in its βover the top-ness,β justine in its preparedness tips, and mike in its ability to keep him far, far away from topics of murder and death.

A podcast from an actual PI, not a journalist (or "journalist"), about the disappearance and death of Katelyn Markham - this one gets your devoted mod's enthusiastic support; really well-done case-per-season execution, unlike some we could name

I am looking for some recommendations. I use true crime podcasts to fall asleep. But not all true crime podcasts work for me. Here are the ones that work.
I have also strayed into podcasts that are similar. They include
I think they help me sleep because
My problem is that, after listening to true crime podcasts for years, i am finally finding the content to be a bit too impactful. A few too many nights waking up to gruesome details of murder or sexual assault have gotten to me.
So, I'm looking for recommendations with some pretty narrow parameters. Can anyone make any recommendations? Not necessarily true crime but something similar to the podcasts I have listed.
Seeking out true crime stories as a means of entertainment exploits the victims and survivors' experiences.
I believe that it is perfectly normal for human beings to be curious about things that are shocking and vile. However, empathy is lost when the stories of survivors and victims are told in a way to keep you on the edge of your seat- waiting in suspense to hear what happened next to that person in that situation. Yet, that victim was a real person, in a real incident. Their family members and friends are likely still dealing with the real repercussions of what happened, and you are listening to their story for your own entertainment.
If I had a close friend or a family member get viciously murdered, the last thing I'd want to know is that what happened to them has been summarized on some podcast or TV show
True Crime Podcasts with Shorter Intros
-Crime Junkie (If you can get past the plagiarism scandal) -Generation Why -Red Collar -Voices for Justice (this is a deep dive into the Alissa Turney case done by her sister. It's so incredible and there's been recent incredible activity because of her) -RedHanded -Crimes of Passion (Love in Lockup) -Court Junkie -Casefile -True Crime All The Time -Unraveled:Long Island Serial Killer -Serial Killers -Crime Noir -Let's Not Meet -I Survived the Podcast -Supernatural (a mix of mysteries hosted by Ashley Flowers) -Crime Countdown (hosted by Ash & Alaina from Morbid) -Park Predators (I highly recommend for those who are insane, like me, and love to hike and listen to true crime) -Invisible Choir (This is a very well done podcast, similar to Sword and Scale. The biggest difference between them are the hosts. I can not recommend S&S based off who Mike Boudet is as a person.) -Female Criminals
Comedy True Crime
-And That's Why We Drink (half paranormal/half true crime) -Scam Goddess -Morbid -My Favorite Murder
Thank you.
Sure W did not have the best cast, nor was it a good challenge aside from Gauron, but it delivered when it came to fanservice : Gai lives, Nicole lives, Rapier lives, Red Strike etc.
Same thing for the Original Z and Z2, Secret Quality starts to seriously drop at after this.
I will give give credit though, Black Mightgaine was a pretty darn good one.
In my humble opinion, the things I would like to see the most :
1.Give Gaogaigar final a spot back and add Gaogaigo as a secret unit.
2.If we get GunxSword again, add the Combo attacks back and give Eldora Soul, Inferno el Ciel as a secret.
3.If Z and ZZ are yet again part of the Gundam Flood, Then give us the S gundam as a Secret Unit.
4.Sun/Moon/Bird attack, why has it been missing for so long now.
5.Speaking about missing, where the heck is the Final Dynamic Special.
6.Give Dai-Guard another run and give it a Secret Nonsense upgrade that turns it into an actual Super.
7.Tekkaman Blade deserves a spot again after all this time, heck go nuts and add Evil as a secret.
8.Nadesico going into POD not one or the other, DOUBLE GEKIGAN FLARE.
9.Gravion and for the love of god make the Secret that Ultimate Gravion is a unit, not an attack.
10.Getter Robo Armageddon can sit on the bench for once, ShinvsNeo Getter Robo, Getter Robo Go as a secret.

When the Armie Hammer BDSM/cannibal story broke, and Iβd read the text exchanges, this story from Ireland came to mind.
In august 2012, Elaine OβHara, an Irish childcare worker was murdered by architect Graham Dwyer. She was last seen alive at a public park in Shanganagh, Dublin, Ireland, on 22 August. The remains of her body were discovered on Killakee Mountain, south of Dublin, in September 2013. The investigation of her disappearance and later of her death was widely reported.
The 2015 trial and conviction of Dwyer led to the circulation of evidence concerning O'Hara's and Dwyer's involvement in the BDSM sexual subculture. Evidence of Dwyer's sadistic sexual practices led to the murder being called one of the most shocking crimes of recent times, in Ireland.
Like AH, Dwyer was successful, and married, with children.
Texts sent from Dwyer (master) to OβHara (slave) included:
βI want to stick my knife in flesh while I am sexually arousedβ¦ I would like to stab a girl to death some time.β
βMy urge to rape, stab or kill is huge. You have to help me control or satisfy it.β
For anyone who wants to read more of the exchange: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/the-texts-between-graham-dwyer-and-elaine-ohara-on-day-of-murder-38984815.html
It begs the question of how far AH would have gone, if this had been allowed to carry on.

Hey, I've been thinking, with all that's happened, and all the big focus on what superheroes do, like, is it moral to fervently consume all the info about all the superhero fights and events? Is it ethical to produce it?
I was thinking about how I'd love to see a superhero fight in person, but I live in the Seattle area so there isn't really a whole lot of that out here. Well aside from "Phoenix Jones " but obviously he doesn't really count.
But I was reading about the ethics of the true crime genre, and how it's really exploitative of the people that had to deal with the crime, so I started wondering about the ethics of all that attention on superheroes. Like, after New York there was all that media about superheroes that people lapped up, but a lot of people lost their lives, homes, and/or family in that mess. Not to mention the whole JJJ and Spiderman thing.
I don't know. I was wondering what other people were thinking.
Iβm not sure who else to even ask about this. I LOVE YWA because they do thorough research, are respectful, and discuss how certain things can affect our world (specifically criminal justice system) as a whole. They have fun teaching each other but a huge part of it is respect for the topics. (Also it was capitalism all along.)
I listened to some true crime episodes of a podcast recently (not my normal go-to but I thought Iβd give it a try). I felt so disgusted by the way they spoke about the cases, the victims and the perps (of course βpsychopathβ βsociopathβ and βmonsterβ were thrown around). They sounded like friends gossiping over brunch, just laughing and talking over each other. It also sounded like little actual research was done. Is this normal for the current true crime fad?? Iβve watched documentaries about certain cases or serial killers (obviously itβs an intriguing topic as we all know) but Iβve never heard things discussed so flippantly but maybe Iβm out of the loop. It felt super exploitive and gross and there were plenty of ads.
Also, there were no comments or reflection about how this tough on crime rhetoric could actually be detrimental in other instances which was a huge omission IMO.
Am I being too sensitive? Do I just not get it? Maybe I listened to a bad example. Most of my fellow liberal white women friends love true crime so Im not asking them yet, but maybe I should.
Anyway I listened to YWA to cleanse my palate after. Thanks for hearing my rant.
I was listening to the first episode of the new True Crime Doc, Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel and I knew I recognized the voice of one of the reporters being interviewed for this doc!
It's interesting because he mentions that before this case he had never written about kidnapping/murder.
I'm excited to watch the rest of the doc now, The Hollywood Con Queen was one of my top 3 favorite podcasts of 2020, so it should be interesting to hear about Josh's first real true crime case he was involved in!
So, Iβm a true crime fanatic who has studied many other high profile cases and serial killers but Iβve never done a dive on JBR for some reason. Iβve been seeing this sub pop up on Reddit and Iβm intrigued.
Iβm a βscholarβ and studied heavy on Bundy, Manson, BTK, Green River, Gary Ridgway and many others and Iβm ready to go hard on JBR. I have the Lawrence Schiller book and gonna start it tonight. I know all the basics and major players in the case and have a rough outline of what happened. But Iβve been reading some of your theories on here and now Iβm interested in going down the rabbit hole on it. This will probably turn into a 2 year obsession with me so here goes lol. Start me off people and give me your best topics to look into and favorite insights of the case. Thanks!
I posted asking what were some of the best posts from last year but the post only got one nomination, and that's ok. So I went back throughposts from the past year and found some of the best posts from that time period on r/TrueCrime. Everyone has been given one month of reddit premium. Here are those posts:
##Post of the year

####Other great posts of the past year.
NXIVM sex cult leader Keith Raniere sentenced to 120 years in prison
[Can we talk about people who actually stumble upon bodies? I feel this is not widely spoken about. Has anyone here found any
Idk, every request for suggestions on this sub seems to be flooded with it. Maybe I just notice because I'm not interested in it myself and scrolling past? Interested in any opinions on this.
In the last Delphi episode, they said there was a former co-worker of Chadwell - during the time of the crime - that made a post on Reddit claiming to have been suspicious of Chadwell immediately after the murders. Nick said the guy submitted tips regard Chadwell, all of which were ignored
edit: this is link, in case anyone's curious. It wasn't actually posted by the employee
Always thought it was an amazing game, especially for the time. Anybody know if theirs a remake floating around in the ether?
