[DC Comics/Batman] Joe Chill ends up shooting all three of the Waynes, instead of just Bruce's parents. Only Martha Wayne survives, and she vows vengence. Assuming she eventually takes up the Cape & Cowl, how would her approach to crimefighting differ from Katherine Kane's approach?

After the Wayne family leaves the theatre, Joe Chill ends up shooting all three of them in Crime Alley, before running off with their wallets. Only Martha Wayne survives, with just a flesh wound, and the traumatic loss of her family drives her on to become a vigilantee.

I'm curious about this after watching the Flashpoint Paradox movie, and going on to read some of the comic. For those of you already familiar with it, we've seen from Flashpoint Paradox storyline that Martha Wayne actually does have a vengeful & violent side to her, and that all that it takes to bring this dark side out of her is to witness the death of just her son, Bruce Wayne. Upon seeing this, she quickly became the Joker in that timeline. Upon this premise, if she loses both her son and her husband, I want us to assume that she would likely decide to become Batwoman instead of Joker, and hunt down criminals rather than become one.

All that being said, how does Martha Wayne's version of Batwoman differ from Kate Kane's version?
What differences might we see between them in terms of fighting style/skill, tactics, gear, investigational skills, alter-ego, persona, etc.?
Is Martha likely to take in sidekicks (Robin/Batgirl/etc)?
Also, assuming that they both end up operating in Gotham, would they get along with each other?

The bibliography list her maiden name as Kane. Is she, and by extension Bruce, related to Kate Kane (a.k.a. Batwoman) either in the Arkhamverse or one of the comic continuities?

Batman chronology in the Arrowverse

I think we have enough information now to put together some timeline for Batman's life and career in this continuity.

A few dates are not based on anything on the show, but I've picked them based on factors like Warren Christie's actual age (which I assume is close to the character's age) and how things were in the comics.

Here goes:

1975(?): Bruce Wayne is born to Thomas and Martha Wayne.

1985(?): Thomas and Martha Wayne are murdered.

2000(?): Bruce Wayne becomes the vigilante known as Batman. Early in his career, he is at odds with the GCPD, led by Commissioner Loeb.

Early 2000's: Batman fights super-villains such as the Mad Hatter and Killer Croc. The latter is killed by the police bombing him with thermite.

2003: During a battle with the Joker, Batman tries and fails to save his aunt, Gabriella Kane, and cousin Beth Kane, who are missing, presumed dead.

Late 2000's: Superman entrusts Batman with Kryptonite, which Bruce in turn entrusts to Lucius Fox for safekeeping. Lucius discovers it can penetrate the Batsuit and adds this fact to his journal.

2010: Lucius Fox is murdered.

2011: Poison Ivy terrorizes Gotham City. Batman works with Renee Montoya, Ivy's lover, to neutralize her. He buries Ivy under the Batcave.

Early 2010's: Lucius' son Luke Fox becomes Batman's new partner and confidant.

2015: Some time after he presumably kills the Joker, Batman leaves Gotham and is never seen again.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I'm at a wall and can browse goodreads for hours before finding something. Please help!

I've just finished A.G Riddle's The Pandemic. Looking to get into another book.

Previous titles I've enjoyed by category.

Sci-fi: Murderbot Diaries by Martha wells (LOVED it, if there's anything else "quirky AI-human esque id love to know). Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. (Very good. Again, the characters seem to have to a strong pull to me). And of course, Dune.

Historical: The Eagle series by Simon Scarrow (read each book a few times over the year. Very enjoy reading them). Clash of Empires by Ben Kane (enjoyed the difference in styles and cultures between Greek/Persian & Roman life. Both socially and militarily.

Dystopian: The Pandemic by A.G riddle. Girl with all the gifts by Mike Carey.

I'm into lots of things. Spies, fantasy, military etc.

I'd love to start curating a list from any replies so I can jump straight from one book into another.

Any help is so appreciated!

Every Batman Comic Reviewed Part 1: Detective Comics #27 to Detective Comics #43

Welcome to an ambitious and arguably insane series, where I attempt to review every Batman comic (which includes ones showcasing other characters from the franchise), 20 issues per week (may increase if I decide it would go faster that way).

So, I guess we need no introductions, let's just get into it, with the first 20 issues!

  1. Detective Comics #27 ("The Case of the Chemical Criminal Syndicate") (Notable: Debut of Batman, Gordon, Batmobile (sort of), Wayne manor): "Batman tackles a crime syndicate and stops them". The first ever appearance of the greatest superhero of all time and... It's just kind of eh. Okay, that's a little harsh, I know, as it's still got some cool shots (especially the first ever one of Batman) and a decent intro set up to Bruce and Batman, but, really, it's just a very by the numbers story in which Batman kills and everything feels a bit off, which granted makes sense for a very first attempt, but still, a tad disappointing. Also, you're gonna hear a lot of whinging about Batman's no kill rule here XD.

    1. Detective Comics #28 ("Frenchy Blake's Jewel Gang") (Notable: Debut of Bat-Rope, first instance of Batman being chased by police and communicating with Gordon): "Batman tackles a jewel gang". Wow, say what you will about issue 1 but at least it had SOME style. This is the most mediocre continuation you could do. Batman hears about jewel gang. Batman stops jewel gang by killing them. Outside of the notables listed above, I could not care less. What a crappy start.
    1. Detective Comics #29 ("The Batman Meets Doctor Death") (Notable: First proper villain, Batman starting to use more gadgets, Part 1 of the first two parter Batman story): "Batman tackles Doctor Death, who is going to use a lethal pollen extract that will hold the world's wealthy hostage until they pay tribute to him". Arguably the first proper attempt at a villain, and admittedly while it is far more interesting than the first two stories, I hate this one the most. Cause you know. Batman is just totally okay with murder and or people dying. Okay, okay, I'm sure this is getting frustrating, but it's not the only reason. Again, it feels very by the numbers, whatever cool panals there are are wasted by the meat of the story, and oh look, complete with racist depictions, the one thing I hate more in these stories than killing! Yay! Worst one yet.
    1. Detective Comics #30 ("The Return of Doctor Death") (Notable: Batmobile seems

Winter/Snow movies for the holidays?

Not necessarily Christmas/Thanksgiving/New Year's movies, but do you guys know any 1910s-1950s movies involving things like snowy mountain lodges or ice skating? Romance movies that put you in the holiday season mood. Or wintery, murdery film noir. Either way.

Movies that are set during the holiday season (although I'm not a fan of all of them): Pandora's Box, The Unholy Three, The Thin Man, March of the Wooden Soldiers, Scrooge (1935), Holiday, A Christmas Carol (1938), The Shop Around the Corner, Remember the Night, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Meet John Doe, Citizen Kane, The Magnificent Ambersons, Holiday Inn, Going My Way, Christmas Holiday, Christmas in Connecticut, It's a Wonderful Life, The Bells of St. Mary's, I'll Be Seeing You, Lady on a Train, Miracle on 34th Street, It Happened on Fifth Avenue, The Bishop's Wife, Lady in the Lake, Holiday Affair, In The Good Old Summertime, The Reckless Moment, Dillinger, They Live By Night, The Man I Love, Cover Up, Mr. Soft Touch, Meet Me in St. Louis, Neptune's Daughter, Little Women (1949), The Great Rupert, A Christmas Carol (1951), Mr. Arkadin, All That Heaven Allows, White Christmas, An Affair to Remember, Walk Softly Stranger, I the Jury, Backfire, Night of the Hunter, Flame of the Islands, Bell Book and Candle

Wintery:

- The Wildcat is set in a mountainous snowy area and is full of lovers sledding together.

- Flesh and the Devil takes place during winter and the climax happens out in the snow.

- The Lodger (1927) takes place during winter. A scarf is a murder weapon.

- The Lodger (1944) takes place during winter.

- The Frozen Ghost takes place during winter.

- My Favorite Wife takes place during October, but they discuss Christmas plans at the end and Cary Grant's character tries on the Santa suit. Movies! channel actually played it on Thanksgiving.

- The Strange Love of Martha Ivers takes place during winter and there's a scene where they make a bonfire.

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
