A list of puns related to "Marina Abramović"
Who inspired her? Who did she try to resemble? Who were her references? I haven’t found yet a moment where she states who did she looked up too when she started, etc.
They can’t sell their art. So how do they make money? Are they paid by the hour? Before the performance, or after? Does the museum pay? I need answers!
Every video is filled with comments linking her to: satanism, the Antichrist, adrenochrome, drinking babies blood, Bill gates, brainwashing, pizza gate, witches, podesta, spirit cooking, the Clinton foundation, and an overwhelming amount of complete hate, disgust and violence towards this woman. Many comments are advising boycotting channels that show or upload videos with her in it.
As an example among many - https://youtu.be/80QTY91WpQk
I knew some of her stuff was controversial but I also thought a lot of it was really quite groundbreaking in terms of paving the path for a lot of today’s post modern performance art.
If someone could give me a full rundown on everything related to her that would be great because I seem to be seriously out of the loop here

Above is an article about it. Within this artwork, Marina sits at a table while audience members are free to sit opposite of her. The main similarity that I’m looking for is that there is no direct intention or concept that is portrayed - it is purely up to the emotion and interpretation that the audience feels is correct. Does anyone know of any art works similar to this, or have any advice on how I can go about searching for them?
Thank you!
So I came across this performance art piece by Marina Abramović called Rhythm 0. In the piece she places herself in a room with the audience as well as a table with 72 objects on it, ranging from harmless to potentially lethal. She told the audience to do to her whatever they wanted for 6 hours. This apparently started out docile, but after three hours her clothes were cut off with a knife, another hour later she was being cut with the knife, and near the end the audience even tried to let her shoot herself in the head with a loaded gun (that was also on the table). After the time was up, she confronted the audience, after which they fled.
I’ve also been reading about the deconstructivist theory and analysis in art specifically, mainly Derrida’s text and wanted to apply this to Abramović’s work.
It seems that she was trying to convey several messages, one of them being that women are continuously objectified and that if nothing is done or if one is conforming to that, people will take advantage of that and abuse and mistreat you. At the same time, when those same people are confronted with their actions, they flee in shame, proving that action needs to be taken to stop behavior like this from happening.
I was wondering if anyone has a different view on the art piece, and if they feel like she was trying to say something else, or if maybe the focus lays somewhere else.
Would love to hear your thoughts!
