Not really Azula related, but 15 years ago we lost Mako Iwamatsu, the original voice actor for General Iroh. I think General Iroh had an impact on all of us, regardless of what we think. He gave an amazing performance and made an amazing character. He is missed.

Why does Iroh have such a distinct accent while everyone else sounds American? Besides his voice actor being Mako and Greg (who I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world) I don’t see why his voice is so distinctively Japanese. He’s rich and well traveled, which usually weaken distinct accents.

I like how general Iroh went into excile from the Fire Kingdom which is ironic because thats actually happened to the real life parents of the characters voice actor, Mako. They were anti-militarists and were forced to flee Japan just before the war with United States.
