A list of puns related to "Maamanithan (film)"
It has certainly been asked before but an update wonβt hurt.. First one that pops into my head is M. Night Shyamalan. To me he is unique because he went from Sixth Sense(one of the most shocking and terrifying movie I ever saw growing up) to a 4 film streak that could be considered all time bad. Lady in the Water, The Happening, Last Airbender and After Earth.
A good Cast.
Itβs time to talk about this ridiculous story that is constantly showing up on reddit, youtube, and popular star wars podcasts. They believe there is an ongoing battle within Lucasfilm between the Favreau/Filoni supporters, and Kennedy supporters. Iβm not going to get into how ridiculous that is βIβm going to focus on the theory that Filoni/Favreau should supplant Kennedy as President.
Simply put, Kathleen Kennedy is a straight-up businessperson, and Filoni and Favreau are creatives. Kathleen Kennedy sits in meetings that are more likely to be about complex financing arrangements for film production than anything related to a Star Wars story/canon decision.
Favreauβs position currently is ideal β he works on Star Wars basically on his own schedule (unless they are actively shooting), he writes, brainstorms, and pushes creative star wars decisions and storylines. He is able to work on Marvel movies (both from an acting and creative standpoint), and other endeavors like The Chef Show, a passion project of his.
Kathleen Kennedy on the other hand is in every day at 9, and is jam packed with meetings about Lucasfilm business until probably late into the evening. People forget that she is a high-ranking executive at one of the largest publicly traded companies in the world. She has fiduciary duties that Favreau and Filoni have no interest in even learning about.
So you want Filoni and Favreau to run the Star Wars ship story wise. Great β THEY ARE ALREADY DOING THAT. Filoni is the Creative Director of Lucasfilm! Kennedy has clearly given them rein to lead the stories for many shows.
Itβs time this sorry excuse for a conspiracy goes with 2021 into the past.
Edit: a few minor things because this blew up. First off, read the post: it is not defending Kennedyβs decisions. It is a critique of the idea Filoni/Favreau should run the company in her stead. That is a made up theory perpetuated by youtubers. Itβs the Qanon of Star Wars fandom.
Edit 2: everyone yelling that Favreau has the skills to do the job should realize that making him President would put 50% of his time into negotiating financing, health care benefits, special effects deals with other studios, Lucasfilm real estate investments, and detailed reporting to the Board of Directors of Disney. Wouldnβt you prefer he spend his time writing, directing, and leading the creative team?
For me a recent example being, The Empty Man. The trailer made it seem like a generic demon/ghost killing teenagers flick. Instead of the bonkers Lovecraftian detective story it actually was.
Come to think of it, Underwater was the same thing but to a lesser extent. It seemed like a deep sea disaster flick with some sort of creatures involved. And while that is kinda true, it neglected to mention that the creatures were Deep Ones and that the movie was secretly about Cthulhu. Lol. Donβt get me wrong, it made the experience of seeing that for the first time MUCH better.
That being said, I actually love both of those films but feel they werenβt promoted with accurate representations of what they actually were.
Any more thoughts or examples?
I was so excited to see Richard Kelly's cut of Donnie Darko after reading all about it, and was thoroughly disappointed when I saw it. The studio really did make a better version of the film. The same with Payback (1999), another film I love. I heard Brian Helgeland talking about how the studio ruined his movie, they made some pretty major changes. But when I watched the directors cut, it was really not good. The theatrical version is fantastic. Whoever made those changes knew what they were doing.
It's interesting because usually when a studio cuts or makes changes to a movie, they're likely ruining a bold piece of art that they don't understand (Blade Runner, Brazil, Once Upon a Time in America, The Magnificent Ambersons, Justice League, etc.. one could go on) but every once in a while, the studio gets it right and turns a mediocre film into a great one, saving the director from his own tunnel vision. Any other examples of theatrical / studio cuts that are way better than the director's cut ??
The cast, made up of high-profile action stars, were choosing their roles.
Sylvester Stallone went "I want to be Mozart!". Bruce Willis said "Then I'll be Beethoven!" and Jean -Claude Van Damme, "I'll go with Tchaikovsky".
After a moment of silence, Arnold Schwarzenegger stood up, looked at everyone in the room, and said "I'll be Bach".
I'm asking because whenever any mainstream film has gay characters or the focus is on a woman, some come out of the woodwork and start accusing the film of being woke and I wonder, can you ever have gay characters or a woman lead or a black lead and not be woke?
Was "Aliens" woke? Was "The Wire" woke? Was "Independence Day" woke?
I understand when some films contrive to be inclusive however many have forgotten what the point of woke was as a criticism and it has taken a life of its own. It stopped being about something and it turned into a weapon by bigots so they can complain about women or minorities invading their territory.
Hey guys,
Just finished watching Dinosaur which came out in 2000. While it made a solid amount of money in theaters, itβs kinda been swept under the rug as far as movie recommendations as compared to its contemporaries like Toy Story and Lion King.
In your opinion, what would you say is the one film in these branches that doesnβt quite get the love it deserves as opposed to some of its other counterparts.
I want to see what horror films rank highest for you, name up to 5 horror films that you give a 10/10 and they don't have to be in order.
Here's some horror that I give 10/10
Halloween (1978)
The Thing (1982)
Candyman (1992)
American Psycho (2000)
Midsommar (2019)
Let's see some 10/10s!
Everytime single time I hear the song "Goodbye Horses" by the band Q Lazarus I instantly recall the scene in Silence of the Lambs where Buffalo Bill is dancing around in his robe. All the while his next victim screams from the basement well in the next room. It's part of cinema history at this point and instantly recognizable.
I'll never be able to separate the song from this scene or movie. What other songs are like this for you and forever linked to a film that instantly draw you back to a scene or the movie?
Iβve always felt like this would be a creepy idea for a movie. The closest I can think of is the movie Relic which was alright. Are there any other movies that focus on this kind of body horror?

Pelicans beat writer, Jake Madison, replying to fans about the Zion situation
>What about him skipping rehab workouts? What about him falling asleep during film session last week? Or
He later insinuates the Pelicans organization is terrified of upsetting Zion, so they let him do whatever he wants
>Maybe I'm not allowed to say some of that. Maybe they wouldn't tell me. Maybe nothing happened because the team is terrified of upsetting their superstar so he gets away with things others wouldn't. IF that is the case the answer to all of that would be no.
Looking for similar films to Lockstock & Two smokin barrels, that type of Guy Ritchie style, humorous but serious
Edit: Nice one guys quality responses, gonna make me a list from here and smash em off nice one!
