Iβve seen a couple reviews popping up already so I thought Iβd throw my two cents in.
To start, Iβve been a diehard Champs fan. I would agree that their best work is Finer Things and more of the bangers on ATWAB (Shape Up, Breaking Ground, Losing Myself, History, Secrets). When I heard these first couple singles, Iβll admit I was worried. Dead and Gone had that unbearable Feldmann aspect (chorus still banged) and despite the common saying that βCrystal Ball sounded like a Finer Things bonus trackβ I really didnβt agree. Mine is Gold was my favorite single, but if these were the strongest songs I was slightly worried.
Then I heard the album and all worries went away. Itβs like the picked some of the mediocre to worst songs to release as singles.
My personal favorite track is Lightning. Man that track fucking slaps, catchy as hell also. Criminal and Cut Through the Static are also top notch bangers.
For someone who isnβt the biggest fan of softer songs, Our Time to Go might be a high track for me on the album. As a ballad, this song is easily some of Champs best work.
Frozen and Safe Haven are also great tracks that have infectious riffs. Let me mention that Iβve named 6 songs to this point that I enjoy more than any one of the singles. Something About You also has a great rock chorus, a song slightly different for champs.
I will admit I am not a fan of Time Machine. Derekβs vocals are still top notch but they tried something very different there and I donβt think it worked out for them. Sidelines is still a great closing track that has a lot to offer.
The best takeaway from this album is the instrumental improvement. Something I noticed from the start and Ryan later emphasized is they wanted to write βgroovier riffs that can be built on and layered rather than just plain old pop punk powerchords.β Derekβs vocals are incredible as always, quite possibly the best theyβve ever been. My opinion has always been that Derek is the best vocalist in the scene but this album is incredible.
Safe to say, Champs has not sold out and this album is some of their best work. This album is straight up infectious, packed with catchy choruses. Enjoy!
In honor of the two year anniversary a few days ago, Iβm curious to gain the consensus on this album two years down the road now that weβve had awhile to digest it?
Iβll admit I was unashamedly on board from the get-go. I felt that many songs had Alex Gaskarthβs fingerprints on them, which naturally clicked with me (still love ATL, Wake Up Sunshine is an incredible return to form).
I will say, I think the deep cuts and non-singles on Living Proof have aged incredibly. I find myself returning to Cut Through the Static, Something About You, The Fix Up, and Criminal (up there for me as a top 5 Champs song) regularly.
Anyways, thought Iβd throw this album some love in honor of two year. Iβd love to hear some thoughts. π€
Just received my copy of the album, and I haven't seen any confirmation of who produced what songs on the album.
Album credits as found on the inside booklet. Rear cover as well for song titles/numbers and artwork.
Probably not a huge surprise to most as to which songs certain people produced.
If anyone is interested mine came in the old (relatively) plastic CD case with a sleeve and the lyric book folds out to a signed collectable poster.
I want to know what everyone thought of Living Proof, I personally am a big State Champs fan and really enjoyed it.I would give it a 9/10. I want to also know what some of your favorite songs are.

Title says it all.
No but seriously. This album holds up so well years later. A brief look at my comment history and you'll know how I feel about the road the band took. Not to say they're bad, they're an extremely talented band. Derek has one of the best voices to ever grace the genre. And also not to say the music is bad either. Very technically sound, creative, mixed very well. But it really isn't pop punk anymore. The Finer Things has been one of the best post wonder years albums in the genre. Without a doubt.
What do y'all think? Am I crazy?
Not as many as other giveaways but 2 State Champs albums up for grabs.

Enjoy!
I know people have brought up this documentary before but I just watched Living Proof by Matt Embry (you can find it on youtube) and I felt like ranting. If you donβt know about him, Matt Embry was diagnosed with MS in the 90s and his dad came up with a diet for him as there werenβt great medications out at the time. The documentary followed him on a speaking tour talking to people about the diet and basically trying to convert them to it. He also randomly explores the CCSVI procedure (which he received). He states he doesnβt want to vilify drugs but had multiple speakers in the documentary who basically did just that.
Thereβs a lot of questionable stuff with the pharmaceutical industry and I am always skeptical of that kind of thing but this documentary was released in 2017 and there was no mention of the success of newer drugs or anything. I guess there wasnβt time to add that to the film.
I went to Mattβs website to check out his diet plan and I was like blown away by how strict it was. I was just thinking, I would rather have MS than try to follow this diet. Maybe that makes me a weak person but idk.
Like most aot fans on reddit I used to think r/yeagerbomb is toxic shithole ,anyone who posting on YB must have something wrong in the head. I first discover YB sub in r/okbuddyreiner , they were making fun of a very fucked up post in YB, I tried to enter YB to see what this sub is about and I was immediately disgusted by it. YB became my most hated AOT sub on reddit, I hate it so much I sometime enter YB just downvote random post that I donβt like. Everthing changed when chapter 139, my favorite aot subreddit r/okbuddyreiner become extremely toxic, they defend the ending like it was a masterpiece, anyone who criticize the ending will be accused a Erehisu shipper or a Yeagerist, I am included. So fed up r/okbuddyreiner current state I decided to left the sub and posted a rant about OKBR on the subreddit that I considered OKBRβs enemy YB (I also join this sub after that because this is the only place left for people who dislike the ending). I was surprised because the majority in YB donβt call me a cuck just because I am an alliance ,they actually discuss the manga with me respectfully unlike OKBR who immediately assume that I am a Yeagerist because I donβt like the ending. I also found out that YB was not an echo chamber, I see many post worship Floch as a best AOT character and think if I dare to criticize him I will get downvoted to oblivion but no I make a post said that I fking hate rumbling Floch and still manage to get 100+ upvote. The comment section on that post was people peacefully discuss it, no one called me a cuck for not liking Floch, this is enough to prove that YB was never an echo chamber. People who complain about being called a cuck just because they disagree with YB deserved to be called a cuck. YB usually donβt call you a cuck if you just respectfully discussing things with them like I do, you got called a cuck because you intentionally disrespect the majority in YBβs opinion to provoke them so you can make a βLmao YB canβt handle different opinionsβ post.
YB is by no means perfect, and I still donβt think YB is a wholesome aot discussion sub and YB still very bias most of the time but calling this sub an echo chamber is an absolutely wrong statement. I still see a lot of fucked up post l
