I just found out that the Lee family line.. are all puns. Braev Lee -> Bravely Mahzer Lee -> Motherly Edea Lee -> Ideally
I am.. SO MAD that I just found this out. I knew of Braev, but god DAMMIT.

This is what I have heard since moving to Colorado as a nurse. We pay our nurses below industry standard simply because we can. I believe this is complete bullshit, brilliant corporate bullshit, but bullshit nonetheless. People want to live where they can afford a good life or be near there family. There are plenty of places (about 50 states worth) people "want" to live such as Idaho, Montana, Florida, North Carolina, Oregon, Wyoming, California... well maybe not California. Hawaii is the highest paying state on average for nurses, people don't want to live there? Colorado is 46th. I am told "Colorado doesn't pay its nurses well because people want to live here." AND YET we can NOT staff our hospitals to save our lives (pun intended). Shitty pay and insane cost of living! How does this even make sense?
I created a production ready open source library that can detect deadlocks and livelocks at runtime with nanoseconds overhead:
https://github.com/shuvalov-mdb/thread-liveness-monitor
The library requires code instrumentation to add checkpoints. When any instrumented thread is not visiting a checkpoint for some configured period of time all sluggish threads will be printed and user callback will be invoked. The overhead of each checkpoint measured as 2 nanos on my workstation.
While detecting deadlocks with checkpoints is a known approach (e.g. here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/43622603/ways-to-detect-deadlock-in-a-live-application) I was unable to find a feature complete library doing that. Obviously, there must be many closed source implementation.

Now with my Tourettes Iβm a living pun as I repeat tic everything my boyfriend says.
I still love my name, but I canβt help but laugh every time he says βIs there an Echo in here?β
Look I know the narrative and Iβve followed for awhile now. As well as the naked shorting and short shills that have dominated the r/CTRM chat and told Everyone to sell while they profit off their FUD and Short position. Iβll be honest, I bought the shill narrative at first as well. But I dug deeper and Heres my opinion take it or leave it.
The RS gave the shorts life and yes Citadel is short CTRM and so is a lot of big money. Imo the RS is bearish short term but bullish long term. The shorts tried to bankrupt Petros and CTRM. Like they do with many stocks. Shipping is the most hated sector in the entire market and for good reason to some degree. Shipping sector is extremely volatile and a lot of shipping companies went bankrupt in 2008-2009 market crash. A lot of investors probably got burned that were in the shipping sector. Big money use to invest in shipping companies. But since 2008 that big money forgot about shipping and instead went long tech and growth and shorted the entire shipping sector to death and they are still short.
One has to look at the big picture if your bullish on CTRM or even the shipping sector. The reality is that BDI determines the rates that the ships charge to transport goods. The BDI had its last bull run from 2003-2008, when you look at the big picture. With some good pull backs as well for BDI from 2003-2008. Since 2008 BDI has been in essentially a downward trend or corrective pattern until 2020. Thatβs when BDI first had its bullish crossover since 2003, was in 2020. The BDI is known for very long patterns that take around 15-18 years to manifest its next bull cycle. These BDI bull cycles are extremely rare and take a long time to manifest in real time. Imo those in the shipping industry know these BDI cycles, and how could they not. Iβll repeat again, that the last time BDI turned bullish was 2003. The top of that BDI bull run was 2008. I personally believe that BDI will hit 5569 and then pull back. But itβs also possible that BDI hits 6100 before it pulls back. But thatβs a wait and see type of scenario. Now why the BDI is important to shipping and CTRM is obviously when BDI shoots up, shipping companies will charge more to ship their goods. Meaning more profits for their earnings.
Ok so the Petros factor. Yes the RS put down pressure on the stock. Facts. Shorts will hunt stocks that do RS so they make money shorting it. Some literally make it there goal to short stocks that do RS. It put less shares out in the open

Iβm an Avid user of Ableton Live (pun intended). I have been using it since the day I started recording music 3 years ago as my daily driver with other DAWs (Pro Tools and Reaper). However, I have run out of ideas to improve Liveβa performance on my laptop. I think my laptop is powerful enough to run the daw smooth. Here are the specs:
Core i7 (6th Gen) - 3.5 GHz 16 GB RAM (DDR4) 512 GB SSD
Yet, I see a lot of CPU usage by Ableton on loading maybe one heavy instrument rack. In fact, when I check my task manager to see whatβs happening, I donβt see any over load on the CPU while Ableton maybe giving me clicks and pops and showing a high CPU usage because of it. I use an external sound card as well, so my computer is free of any conversions.
All my power settings are on βhighβ as well. Not sure what to do to improve this.
Any tips are welcomed. Thanks!
Hi all,
Can you share some insights on what are some of the popular or recommended techniques for kafka consumer liveness ?
We are talking about plain Kafka consumer app and not Kafka Streams.
Currently we have 2 approaches that we follow for different apps.
publish a heartbeat msg to all the partitions of a dedicated Kafka topic in a fixed frequency and the consumer which is listening to our main topics will also listen to this topic as well. Once it receives the heartbeat msg it will persist somewhere and liveness probe will validate it based on the last processed liveness status. The issue with this approach is that if we are scaling our main kafka topic by increasing the partitions, we have to increase the partitions for this topic as well. If the main kafka topic had an inconsistent frequency of msgs then this approach is helpful.
for consistent frequency of msgs in kafka topic, we rely on the incoming msgs only to validate the kafka liveness probe.
We are avoiding publishing heartbeat msgs to the main topic to avoid polluting the main topic as there are other consumers as well other than our consumer group.
Is there some other approach that can be used to check liveness of kafka consumers.
Thanks.
I read Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews recently, and thereβs a character whose name is Sean Evans. All I could think about was the host from Hot Ones which is really hard to take seriously. Great book otherwise!
I just started PS I Spook You by S.E. Harmon and a ghostβs name is Shawna Paul. Cue me singing Sean da Paul, so me give it to, so me give it to in my head. Luckily I think mentions of her will be short lived (pun intended).
I was reading a steamy KJ Charles book and was in the middle of a scene when my friend Kim messaged me. A MMC was Kim. I set the book down for the day.
During the claims identity verification, what is one supposed to do at the "check liveness" photo opportunity? There's no instructions at all.
A little background: I've been in therapy and treatment for a severe depressive episode for more than a year now. I got better and was expected to make a full recovery last December, but I got worse in March this year. A stressful work environment and of course the pandemic has made my recovery more difficult.
I was warned by my doctor, who referred me, before starting my treatment that my therapist was seen as direct and unfriendly by some patients, and may not be for everyone. I decided to take a chance on her, however, and was fairly pleased with the treatment overall. There were some incidents where I felt like she misunderstood what I was trying to say, or was overly critical in her responses, but nothing major. She did help with a lot of things, and as I mentioned, I did initially get better.
Recently, however, two incidents has made me wonder if I should stop seeing her.
The first thing that happened was a clerical error she made in filing my sick-leave, which lead to me have to do some major damage control with my employer and various government agencies. The end result is that I had to spend all my vacation days to make up for the days I was away from work, which is devestating for me as travelling is something that helps my mental health, and I've been unable to do it for so long. The whole process was exhausting. I don't blame her for making the error, as anyone can make a mistake, but she was extremely reluctant to admit she had made an error, and when she finally did, she blamed me for it. She did retract that statement when I called her on it, but she did not apologize nor admit fault.
Secondly, and more seriously: When I had my session with her earlier this week, things were going very smoothly until the last few minutes. We went over my issues with sleep, and going to bed too late, which is something we've talked about a lot. She suggested that I try to get to bed by midnight every day for a week. Wanting to be honest with her, I said that I agree that this is a very reasonable suggestion, but that I didn't think I'd be able to do it. I spoke briefly about how staying up late is a coping mechanism for me, as I've also told her before. She responded by saying that I "react like a toddler" when I encounter the least bit of resistance, stubbornly refusing if anything is asked of me. I was a little stunned, and told her as much. She went on to say that I make absolutely no effort to get better, which made me break down completely. I cri
... keep reading on reddit β‘Ok, so here's my theory for YJ: Phantoms, with some evidence to back it up. This is coming mostly of NeedleMouse Productions's theory of how Wally West isn't dead. Go watch that if you haven't yet, it's really good.
So, as you can probably tell, my prediction is that Wally West is alive. This allegation is based off 3 core items, which I will be covering throughout the post. These are: Speedster Powers, DC Lore, and Small Evidence provided inside the show, suggesting he's alive.
Before I get into all the explanation, I would like to say that the thought I had, what made me realize Wally wasn't dead was a simple rule that is used in all DC content. 'If you don't find the body, it isn't dead'. This applies to the Flash in Crisis on Infinite Earths (the comic version), or we can use Joker as a "living" (pun intended) example of this, as he falls to his presumable death many times, but always comes back a few issues later. Anyway, onto the explanation.
First of all, Speedster Powers. As all fans of wally West probably know, he's a speedster. For those who don't know what a speedster is, it's a metahuman with powers connected to the speed force. Since the speed force hasn't been mentioned in YJ, speedsters in this case are people with incredible superhuman speed, along with extremely increased stamina and durability, intangibility (if done correctly), and extreme resistance to g-force and friction among others. Another perk of being a speedster, is being able to run so fast, that you can go as fast as the speed of light, and travel through time. So, my theory includes Wally West going forward in time, specifically to the 30th and 31st centuries, and anywhere in between. For all of you big DC fans, you probably know where I'm going with this, But, we will have to move onto DC Lore.
In the extensive multiverse of DC Comics, there's a little thing called the Legion of Superheroes, that takes place way in the future. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a future version of the Justice League, most notably including Braniac 5, Lar Gand, Saturn Girl, among many others. I'm not exactly and expert on this subject, so I won't be getting into it a lot, but if you feel curious, there's a lot of comics and other forms of media that I recommend you explore. Anyway, I think Wally West travelled to the future, to the Legion of Superheroes, and stayed there for a while. Now, why do I think this, you may ask? We'll discuss that in the next paragraph.

So as mentioned by the thread days ago about live Arena and how players will be able to pick 5 monsters each and Ban one. Which monsters do you think will get banned the most?
My guess would be Tiana, seeing how Will runes are so important in this game and the fact that she is so relevant in competitive play I can see her getting banned in most matches that involve her. ^^^No ^^^hate ^^^against ^^^Tiana ^^^though, ^^^just ^^^a ^^^thought.

Anyone knows how to add feature of liveness detection in facial recognition related tasks ? If knows please share related approach also! Thanks in advance.!!!

Kaieteur News β Georgetown was always a fascinating city. Hello again Cosmonauts. If youβve been following along from the first post then youβre probably becoming familiarized with the Cosmos vision. I think itβs really cool going back and realizing how far ahead the core team were thinking.
Today we are continuing yet again with the founders series. This one isnβt as much of a beginners discussion though, we are getting a lot more technical as we listen to Ethan Buchman discuss consensus mechanisms on the Software Daily Podcast:
https://open.spotify.com/episode/7z7qnOrLTVGa5T0s0MquJd?si=HwTzUthRRDCzOrYTn8I_Xw
In this interview Ethan explains the history of consensus mechanisms. Tendermint uses a combination of ideas from previous research papers. He goes into the details of how Nakamoto consensus and Bitcoin really opened the door for what is possible with Byzantine fault tolerant networks. A very technical and in-depth breakdown of how proof of stake differs from proof of work.
This interview is more about Tendermint than the Cosmos hub but without Tendermint there would be no Cosmos vision.
Tune in tomorrow for another Cosmos classic podcast replay.
